I just tried the Odin Sphere demo on PS4 and had a fucking blast. But I'm just wondering, I heard some awful things about how the original Odin Sphere's endgame worked. Like you needed to play the entire game again, or at least every single boss in a challenge rush to get the ending? Apologies if I got the specifics wrong I just heard a lot of complaints about how people didn't even bother finishing it.

Is that fixed in Leifthrasir? If so I'll buy the stupid version of this since I'm so interested in it.

The big problem is that it's so damn easy. But the single post game dungeon just requires obscene levels to even be relevant and then it too becomes so damn easy.

Which is a shame, because aside from physical attacks being mudane, the enemy count not being high enough, and the transformations being boring and uninspired it really feels like this could have been great.

Both this and Omega Quintet had surprised me. The former because it was too easy, the latter because on the hardest difficulty it can get too hard.

You had to grind a shit ton of materials, because towards the end of the game unless you were outrageously level (actually even if you were) alchemy was twice as important as being able to play. Which meant you were running chapters again every few last game attempts because those bosses were fucking brutal. I ended up doing the entire ending sequence 3 times before I got it right. I didn't actually beat the game until after my first deployment.

Naturally as the gameplay is different, this isn't a thing, and mind you what I mentioned above I couldn't really call a negative, since alchemy was really important and not using it to its fullest got you what you deserved.

It's a night and day thing. The combat alone would allow you all that was necessary to avoid having to be a potion wizard, and since the alchemy system is apparently even MORE complex than before, (where before it was just boosting grade and then mixing ingredients) and the foot system is more elaborate (including the ability to be prepared for in the field) you won't be a potion wizard unless you try the hardest difficulties, but undoubtedly the hardest difficulties are going to be hell, which is great.

The reason alchemy was so important in the first iteration was because you were rather committed to your actions. Anyways when this finally hits I'll be able to space out my Muramasa DLC Fury sessions.

Not him, but I heard there's a classic mode, so if you didn't get the original or on the PS3's PSN, you've got a chance to try the original gameplay here.

He wasn't joking about needing potions. I always kept food seeds and revisited stages for mandragoras just in case I wanted to make something. I haven't played it in a few months, but Painkiller, Unlimited POW, and Napalm are really good. Managing your POW meter is pretty important since it's your ability to attack/guard (on Gwen and Cornelius) and draining it completely made you a sitting duck.

Anyone know if in Makina Domain in Meruru the bosses respawn when I leave? The first boss in Makina is kicking my ass, I think I could take him on with the correct items but if he respawns when I leave I'd rather just wait until I'm ready to face all the bosses inside at once. I know the red dragon in the volcano respawns so I was wondering if it's the same with these or different because they have a development attached to them.

It's pretty easy if you grind for 10 hour, otherwise it's a challenge and you need to min max. NG+ is easy as shit tho. You don't "need" life rings, stack vit/men, make sure you have all your buffs up and if you are missing too much it mean you don't have enough tec, use all 6 party members, buff rotate damage and repeat. Kinda like E&L really.

I actually love Atelier, it's my favorite series, I posted about sophie on the vita for a while after release but I don't say bad things about neps, mainly because I've played them in japanese so I didn't get a meme translation. Atelier are "deeper" but Nep is fun sometimes when I just want to smash things, it feels like a beat um up, you can just spam circle and win without having to go into Menus.

Vita is hold atelier back imo, never buying another atelier on the vita.
