Also the short duration means that the HP lost is minimal and you can afford use it in pvp without it just killing you while somebody turtles you out. You can largely negate the HP cost with the regen ring.

This is my first dark souls game and I had some questions. I just got to the cleansing chapel. Should I still be using the Deep Battle Axe I got off the chest monster on the wall? I wanna do a Faith build, so that'll be 60 faith. Some anon suggested Astora Straight Sword with the Sunlight Talisman. I'm guessing, since I'll be using only the base stats, that I should go with Raw? Or should I do Lightning for that sweet faith scaling?
And what about the Astora Greatsword, specially with Lightning Infusion? That thing has S scaling, boys.

You can normally get 2 Aldies without a finger. Aldies do not take up red/purple slots, so you can get 2 Aldies + a red without using a finger. You are very unlikely to get that red invader if you're solo, though.
If you pop a finger, you can get 2 red/purple phantoms and 3 aldies at the same time.

Also note that blues will not respond to aldie invasions, only red/purples.

I net 1500 damage with a combo with my Kumo with it. Basically when I see I'm close to dying, I switch to RTSR, cast this and trade a hit for a combo when the opponent gets greedy. If it was a fight I knew I was gonna lose anyway it's worth the risk because it works 1/3 times.

proof of a concord kept, how the fuck are you meant to get them? i've gotten 30 sunlight medals, 30 vertebrae shackles and 10 human dregs in this one sitting, but i havent even gotten a single fucking proof, the drop rate appears to be the lowest, the farming takes the longest and the covenant was dead on arrival - what the fuck are you meant to do?

I wish parrying wasn't a thing, or maybe something exclusive to straight swords and katanas.

It makes the fights overly defensive and boring. I love when I find someone who, just like me, it's basically two handing his slow weapon and has nothing else. The fight usually gets intense and full of risky trades, with calculated hyper armor, timing and spacing playing a enormous role.

After experimenting a fair bit in PvP, I concluded that straight swords are hilariously broken and terribly designed in every sense. Longsword R1 spam has enormous horizontal + forward reach, is stupidly fast with no wind-up, has enormous damage, costs almost no stamina and is easily spammable. The worst thing is that it's actually very hard to punish. You can't roll behind the user due to the tracking, and you can't parry it mid-combo like you can to previous R1 spamming weapons (e.g., Demons Souls Halberd, which was very easily blocked + parried). It's probably the most poorly balanced and skill-destroying weapon in the Souls franchise.

And thing is, this is easy to notice. Just playing the game for a few hours is enough to realize something is wrong with the weapon balance. What the hell was Miyazaki thinking?

You can quickstep through the first R1 with a dagger and the second R1 has already reached its hyperarmor frames before your punish comes out. The only thing that can safely roll-punish the 2HR1 of a glaive is Gotthard's, because its rolling attack is the fastest attack in the game.

Yes you can. You can even parry out of hitstun between the second and third hit half the time, and setup parries are as easy as they've ever been.
R1 spam is shit and loses to long weapons or hyperarmor really hard.

I think quicksteps have longer recovery than it looks like they do. They have crazy long i-frames but you can't attack that quickly after them.

Is the base dragon roar the only good dragon stone (in pvp)? Dragon covenant is pretty shit in DS3, but I feel like rolling around as an anorexic dragon anyway.

Oddly, Farron Keep has less people with player phantoms than most areas tonight. Sure, sometimes I invade and the host is fighting the crystal lizard with two phantoms, but most of the time they're solo or just have Pale Shade. And Pale Shade's phantom is easy.
