I knew arcane was and has been for ages, but my guild said I should level a mage since we are flush with melee DPS and lacking in range.
Holy shit. It's mostly 1 button rotations with a second button you push sometimes. If you're lucky there is a third ability on a fairly high cooldown you also throw down every so often.
Arcane has mana management, which is a thing, but the others have nothing that make them at all tricky.

It gives you valuable information in a neat and tidy matter that doesn't clutter the screen (unless you are an absolute retard that can't make boxes and place them in an organized fashion) and improves performance.
Like for example, lets say you play warlock. You always want to keep track of your dark soul, but you don't always want to stare down at your bars to see when it's off CD, it's inefficient. So you'd make a weakaura for it and put it close to your character. You can track when it's off cd, and how long the buff is applied to you. Or lets say you get a good trinket that gives a lot of crit, so you want to use chaos bolts whenever that trinket is procced, but staring at your buffs every couple of minutes to see the trinket proc is probably the most inefficient thing you could do in the entire game, so you can make a weakaura that tracks the proc of the trinket and place it anywhere you need it to be.
Here's an example. I have my weakauras set to only show up in combat. As you can see, I have a weakaura to track backdraft so I know when I can/can't use a chaos bolt, and when I need to reapply it with conflag. I also have a weakaura to track my dark soul, and that third one that's procced is my weapon enchant.

I think you misunderstand what the word meme is.
It's just an idea that has been passed between individuals. The use of weakauras by plaers wanting to be top players is, by definition, a meme.
Doesn't make it bad, it just means its use has a lot less to do with its value as an addon and more to do with the acceptance of using it if you want to be like a high level player.

To get into normal raiding, first you really need to do LFR, so they are basically forcing you into that (especially because LFR is personal loot so you are always guaranteed to get something you want). You get rewards for sitting in a que and get FUCKING NOTHING for running to a dungeon. You could not use heirlooms, but what's the point? The leveling is all fucked up and is nothing like how it was in vanilla/tbc/wotlk where you felt like questing was an integral part of the game and you actually progressed your character and felt you were getting stronger, so if you don't use heirlooms you are just going to be miserable and feel like a fool. etc etc etc
All these little nigling things that blizzard added to the game to "appeal to casuals" ruins the game for none casuals because we don't get rewarded, in fact it's almost like we get punished.

I think he's more or less talking about leveling dungeons and heroics. In leveling you get a 5% damage buff if you use the dungeon finder, you also get a shitton of exp and a bag if you finish the dungeon. Then at max level, you get garrison resources for using dungeon finder to do a heroic, you also get valor and gold.
They are basically saying "you want to run to the instance with a group of friends? well fuck you, no extra shit for you, use our streamlined system!!"
The only thing that guarantees is the group may actually know how to play the game and can do a dungeon without fucking up, but even then you can still just que up with a party of 5 to get all those extra rewards, and if you don't do that you just feel like a fool because you could have gotten valor capped sooner, or made gold, or got some extra resources, etc.

There are people who never stepped foot in a single raid in Vanilla or TBC and were content with the game because there was much more to the game itself. Fast-forward to WoD, you either PvP, get geared to raid, or raid. That's all there is. Communities are dead. Gear is handed out like it's nothing. I've geared alts in full 700 gear within hours of hitting level cap.

I need your opinion, I got two pieces of my tier set and I want to do Manny since I rolled gold twice on Xhul. So far no one seems to join my PL raid that much, and I often hear complaints though not many about how people prefer to roll for their loot instead.
Is it truly that better to ML than PL? Part of me wants to do it, but at the same time I want to reserve a trinket and tier piece that could be beneficial but I don't want be an asshole for reserving something.
