They're good for countering soldiers but that's about it. Scouts out dps and out speed them, demos may have a bit of trouble but they have sticky spam and ways of keeping them back, they can't pick med effectively because of no speed and no viable long/mid range options. With defensive options there is engi and heavy which can be used for area denial or offense, so those have their uses. Sniper and spy are pick classes so while situational they are still useful. Pyro has little to no advantage over scout/soldier/demo and should never be played.

Nope, most people play him incorrectly. I had the similar problem with the scout when I first started. I thought he was under powered as all fuck. >Afterburn can easily be countered by multiple things (Medics, Dispensers, Jarate/Milk/Sandvich, health packs, other Pyros)
>Afterburn resistance as a trait on Pyro is somewhat useless if the enemy team lacks a Pyro, but also hurts when trying to use your primary against an enemy Pyro
>Has to be in someone's face to be effective, making it a high risk for a low reward if not going for a proper pick

Where as Sniper:

hey guys so I tried this dubious strategy in MM.
I died as scout then when my timer was at 7 med died. I switched to med and told med to switch to scout so we would have a med back in faster. Is this a good idea or no?

Well, sometimes the sacrifice is worth it if it means you live, and it's not like I always have a trap laid somewhere (I say I here because I don't know how you play demo).

That's why jumping towards an hp kit or a med is always a good idea and what you should try to do.

The whole one shot thing is very difficult to pull off and against competent pyros will only work with surprise. I can't remember having ever done this outside the range of like 2 meters or around a corner. It is a bit faster then you would think though (a bit more than 0.7 seconds to be exact).

Otherwise you're denying yourself a weapon that can do great damage, both in the air and on land. I mean, play the way you want to, but traps work for me. The game is goal oriented, it's easy to guess where people are coming, what space needs to be denied ect. It's not like I just set them up and leave them. I blow them up and reset them constantly. I do use the stickylauncher offensively if I don't have a trap up, but I usually do.

I would say there is a time and place for traps but I primarily use the launcher as a spam bombs and blow shit up thing. Traps often take time to set up, require watching, and just usually are not worth the effort put into them. If you are being pushed back I can see how traps can be useful but most of the time you want to be acting offensively and blowing shit up constantly.
