No real romance.

Hisao just spend time with each cripple, learns about and from each one. The story is about him progressing as a person via friendship, rather than romance.

Cripples have more interaction with eachother, something I felt was missing from the VN.

By the end of the series, he will will have brought all the cripples closer together, and have learned a great deal of life lessons from all of them. He also picks up a few talents and skills, like appreciation for art and tea, gets some signing skill, gets better at running, and learns patience and compassion when dealing with people like Hanako.

I was there when the project started, though, and the shitstorm will always make me see this project like it's shit. Basically the guy created proclaiming it was KS 2, but he wrote like he was retarded. It got way more attention than it should, 4Leaf devs were pissed, then the guy said he got a lot of people interested that would work for him and they would change the game's name because he realized he was retarded. All the initial projects for girls were LITERALLY new renditions of the 5 katawas with the same disabilities or sometimes looked like one and had the other's disability. They didn't even got inspiration from the background characters, it was ridiculous.

Everyone thought they would realize it was shit and give up, but a couple weeks later they changed the name again, a lot of the girls and everything. I still think at least the main writer is retarded and if people agreed to work with him, then they probably aren't any better.

I think this, then with perhaps a lead-in to Hisao's story at the end would make a good story. Then make each of the routes from the VN into 1-3 OVAs (maybe one per chapter, except for Hanako and Emi which are pretty short) each. You can get more out of the screen time this way by not redundantly showing the opening stretch in every one.

1-2 mini-stories per episode should be fine. I don't think there's any need to separate character sagas, have it more like the Western TV formula of two situations happening, but separate and not mish-mashed unless the stories actually intersect with each other. Opening theme would be variable, especially in the stretch, doesn't matter as much if the stretch is a bit long, as the characters are the focus in KS anyway.
