Hey. Maybe some of you guys can help me, because I'm sorta at my wits end. I played Stardew Valley for quite some time on my Mac using Wine. It worked like a charm until recently. Whenever I'm about to reach level 120 in the mine, Stardew Valley just crashes with the message: "SDV has encountered a serious problem…". Is anyone else using Wineskin and can help me out? Would like to fix this shit as soon as possible.

if you right click and do Show Package Contents and search for your character name, you'll find two save files: "SaveGameInfo" + "YourCharaName_RandomStringOfNumbers". in theory you should be able to copy these over to another folder, then trash the Wine wrapper & built it all over from scratch, and then paste those two save files back into the new game. can't 100% guarantee this b/c I haven't tried it, but unless there's other config files you'd need to backup, i can't see why this wouldn't work.

Ideally when seasons change is the best time to reformat how your farm looks, since you have to completely replant everything. The best time to really start worrying about your farm's looks is in Winter, since you can't plant anything then.

As someone who was weak willed, you will absolutely destroy the joy of this game if you start trying to minmax and look shit up. The discovery is the best part. Talk to people a lot, be inquisitive, think critically, and you'll have a blast. It's a very chill game so don't worry about "best" Just have fun fampaitachi

Clicking or clicking and holding moves the green bar up. not lets it drop. You're trying to keep the fish inside the green bar until the meter on the right tops out, catching you the fish. The bar expands as you get more skilled and better rods. Don't worry if you get out fukken skilled by some swole fish. It's fine.

Now get off this thread, stay away from the wiki and anything else referring to stardew valley until you beat the game. You can never get your first playthrough back so don't destroy the magic early.

All trees in the wild regrow in the same spot after you cut them down. You should be able to get through all the trees in your farm and still have an abundance of wood left over. i think this depends on your play style. i don't always have the day meticiously planned, so sometimes i'll need my fishing rod/pickaxe/axe to gather resources or fish. after you get a decent sprinkler system going you don't really need to carry the watering can anymore, it's pretty useless. hoe is only useful for worms/artifacts but as far as i know worms don't de-spawn instantly so you can always come back the next day if you don't have your hoe.

What is there to look forward to for the future of Stardewd?

Co-op, sure, but it seems kind of out of place to me. What will expanded marriage stuff entail?

I still remember how excited I was as a kid, learning that Harvest Moon 64 would let you continue past the 2 1/2 year mark. But once you hit that mark the game became stale... same with all the other HMs.

This is really no exception, so I'm curious as to what ideas people might have for extending interest past the 3 year mark.

The band doesn't really do much, since you've pretty much finished all combat.

The pickaxe is pointless since bombs are overwhelmingly more valuable.

The hoe is semi-pointless since outside of 1st of the month you never really have a use to justify it

The watering can is also semi-pointless since you're better off with sprinklers by this point and there's no energy saving.

The axe was the only one that kinda made sense, but then you don't really need wood by then.

I ended up making a few crystallariums and never really got around to anything else.

I'm hoping for a lot more secret areas. More areas the bus can go to. More dungeons. A "community center II" setup where you send dosh or goods to help with the war effort. At the end of or as part of the rewards you get NPC's that start showing up at the saloon that you can romance/employ. You equip them and can send them to an abstracted dungeon with food, pack animals, storage backpacks and maybe a cart with crates, armor, weapons, tools, etc and they'll mine and bring back stuff a week later or whatever More differentiation between joja and Pierre's seed stock . Maybe with pierre offering hierloom seeds with better stats/grow speeds and shit like some weird local herbs and shit vs joja having foreign stuff. More plants that you'll find secret locations with snazzy looks Maybe some neat cave fungus/cave plants/cave "trees" you find down there. I love having a purple amaranth farm

Maybe a way to "tame" more dungeon monsters for ranching and they can make some niche products. A farm of those rock crabs would be 2cute. An abstracted export to national market option to load onto a train that stops by once weekly. The market has some supply and demand to it so prices fluctuate to make what you grow less of a no-brainer. Service contracts with the bar to supply them with raw ingredients or dishes or whatever. Maybe fish farming in your ponds? I could see that being tight. That and aquaculture in general. More depth to the shroom/bat cave with subquests for expanding it with robin's help and growing the populations Windmills and grain milling. Dye crafting and many sources of dye across the professions. More detail to the weaving allowing you to learn how to make stuff. To buy a vacant lot and build a shop you can sell goods at prices you set and staff yourself or have a wife/hired npc man. Wider selection of livestock

i definitely agree there needs to be more quests/stuff to do with the areas you unlock later in the game. the sewers are completely disappointing: what, they have a fish you can only catch once + a shop? desert's not bad, but wish there was more to do there, or else, other areas you could take to the bus to that are like the desert. more exploring/more combat/more quests that take you outside of the town.

You shouldn't have to buy seeds after every healthy harvest, only GMO plants are infertile.

Starting the second week of my first autumn, I feel like the game has stalled to a grind.
I'm no longer exploring, looking for new and undiscovered content to run through, I got to the caves and upgraded all my important tools to gold and I don't have anywhere near as much gold as I'd need to get to the desert.

I feel like with a few modifications you could have some interesting challenge modes.

But for the most part you're right, the explored content and mastering the systems is all there is, there isn't a huge amount of content and the systems are meant to be somewhat casual.

What keeps people hoping is the fact that the fundementals of the game are so fun that hopefully it will be easy to expand on in the future.

Ultimately, this game is sort of the ultimate "how many hours of game is worth how much money" because post-eval you're kinda scraping at the bottom

I think it's worth 15 bucks though, and could easily be a once-a-year replay like HM Gamecube was for a long time.

With version 1.06, the first steps are taken to improving marriage in Stardew Valley! Each spouse now has a unique dialogue sheet, and leaves the house at least once a week to visit town or take a walk. In short, they retain a lot more of their unique "personality" after marriage.

Changelog:
Added unique dialogues for all spouses.
Spouses now leave the house on mondays.
Value of most animal products increased.
Holly is now poisonous.
Missing events problem shouldn't happen anymore.
Minor bug/grammar/graphics fixes.
