What I did when I first started out was, farm old raids for pets (and mounts for myself), farm sfk for twink gear, do some garrison treasure hunter stuff everyday, and farm some other shit.

Once I got to about 300k is when I bought my first wow token (only had 5 days left on sub, and I had spent most of my month just grinding for gold) which was 35k at the time. Then I used all my remaining money to play the AH. Now I have a shitton of mounts, gold cap on 2 chars, and am living easy. I rarely ever need to be afraid of losing gold, because as long as I stay above 500k I can just make it back by auctioning for 15-30 minutes a day.

Most of you probably don't know who he is but he was arguably Blizz's best writer and instrumental to a lot of BC/Wrath lore. He was one of the very few people who had the ability to change Metzen's mind when Metzen wanted to do something retarded. He even argued against a lot of the stupid shit in WoD to my knowledge.

In the past few years he hasn't done as much lore/writing cause he was mainly in a manager position for the novels/comics/short stories etc but he still had a fuckton of influence.

It's only downhill from here now now that one of the few support beams keeping everything upright is gone.

I can tell you right now that it's more profitable than ever. A grandfathered item came back in wod and a shitton of npcs started dropping the gear (instead of just the 5 bosses).

Gloomshroud usually sells for close to 100k, shadowfang is like 20-30, assassins blade and mindthrust bracers are both like 10-15k. If you are a rogue you can also go pickpocketing level 22-24 mobs (worgen in duskwood are best imo) for a chance at Black Venom Blade which sells for 100-300k. Should be easier with an addon like serverhop, but I haven't tried it yet.

Also one more tip. The biggest 19-29 twink server is bleeding hollow, so if you just want to use the SFK method purely for wow tokens you can just make a dk there, get it to 70-80 and farm SFK with that.
