Are there any detailed guides for Settlements I can read?

How do you get large amounts of mechanical materials outside of physical collecting? I have all my settlements attached to a single focal point but I'm not seeing any supplies or more materials in the Workbench.

Also, how do you get more Settlers even with a beacon? I wanted Sanctuary to be my main base of operation. All the smaller settlements are connected to only Sanctuary and for the most part the four, five settlements have Settler Beacons too but they've only ever brought in one or two settlers and they don't go to Sanctuary, they go to the settlements with those beacons.

All dumb questions; was hoping there was a guide or something I could read? Also are there any recommended mods for Settlements I should download

Hey guys, I have a few ideas on mods I'd like to make but I have no skill in coding and I'm not the brighest light on the Christmas Tree as it were.

Mind telling me what I need to learn in order to make these mods?

First one would be for the new DLC, having tons of those ball robots being able to go out into the field and come back periodically to put materials into a chest. Sort of like in Factiora where those little bots go out do things and come back.

The second one, and this too would be from the newest DLC would be a modification you can install onto your robot that automatically sucks up Junk without any animation sequence to be heard of and each upgrade increases its radius of automatically picking it up.

I don't mind if people take these ideas and make them for themselves but I'd be interested in learning how to do this and making it a mod on my own.

I don't want to be just an idea guy but coding and that sort of thing seems daunting to me. And I'm not intelligent at all to figure the mathmatics of it all; maybe it's genetics or something.
