The fact that an AC/10 and an AC/20 are visually indistinguishable is triggering my autism, considering the AC/20 is TWICE the barrel diameter of the AC/10. THAT is more important to me than 2k textures.

The numbers refer to the caliber of the gun. An AC/10 is a 100mm autocannon. An AC/20 is a 200mm autocannon. Caliber is the internal barrel diameter.

This is incorrect. It's strictly the damage per shot. A Marauder's AC/5 is a 120mm gun that fires short bursts, while a Victor's AC/20 is a 100mm gun that fires a much longer one.

Of course, PGI makes them all single-shot unless muh Clans.

Even with four lasers and full armor, it still has enough weight left over for plenty of ammo and heat sinks. Here I use only the bare minimum for a typical public queue match but sinks can be traded in for extra ammo.

DDC is something i've personally been pining for since I started playing but every time I come close to buying it, I don't, other mechs catch my eye.

The Marauder is honestly a lot of fun, if you have the spare MC for a 3R I'd recommend it. Probably hold off on the 5D and 5M until they drop for C-bills in like a month but the 3R is a STD instead of an XL so it's actually reasonably priced in MC.

I stopped playing MWO a long time ago, way back when they were still doing the tweaking with LRM damage and the hottest thing was jump jet sniping. This was way before the ghost heat, 3rd person view and gold Clan packages that caused so many people to quit. I've heard that the game's improved since then, can someone give me a quick summary of how playable the game is now? I still have most of the $30 I spent on the first batch of founder's packages, and I've been mulling over whether or not to get back in.

Game is quite playable. Weapon balance is better than it's been since open beta and there's a large variety of mechs available and a fair number of maps. Mech combat is fun as it's always been. Tutorial means that even people who've never played mechwarrior can get into it.

There's still a lot lacking. Gamemodes are still lacking. Tiers work to seperate the goods from the bads but there is too much mixing in the middle and not enough granularity at the higher end. Ghost heat is still stupid and whatever system they will replace it with is likely to be flawed in some way.

Most of the things in the game are significantly overpriced, but that shouldn't stop you from just playing it for free.

You might as well try it out and figure out whether you like it or not for yourself.

I'm leaning towards the Roc precisely because it is the most unique out of the bunch, but I fear that will only make it the least optimized. The Roc will go well with a full brawling build while the KK might be more for using big lasers or even a PPC poptart like the BJ-3. The thing about the KK is that it's just a slightly altered version of a standard PHX-1, so it can either be really boring or be a really good cash farmer that plays similarly. I wish one of the variants had 4 ballistics for proper MG spam.

It's a Clan mech, so it'll be faster with nicer armament but no kwirks.
