They're profitable as fuck as long as you plant them at the start of the season, especially corn which goes all the way into autumn from summer.

This is all i have to my crops right now, haven't gotten anything from the grapevines yet (should soon)

I've gotten two harvests out of the cranberries after 14 days, the second being shipped tonight when i sleep.
The first harvest made me over 20k.


Also go for fishing, it's fairly profitable if you're not shit at it, eats up plenty of spare time.
And if you're fishing, make sure you collect shells, urchins and shit on the beach, then sell them to the fisherman. Some of that stuff is like 200+gp each, and there's a lot there.
Repairing the bridge on the beach opens up the tidepool, where even more shells spawn.
