The issue I've had with it isn't that I need to build bigger structures, but rather that the largest structures you can build are actually small unless you want to incongruously dwarf if the largest naturally occuring turrain. So, funnily, a castle actually looks best on a flatter and less vertical biome, because there isn't anything large enough to compare it to, but when put next to something like Extreme Hills you realize how tiny these supposedly "extreme" hill are.

I have a fishing golem setup and I discovered that all the Enchanted Books I get from the golem have the same fucking enchantment (Protection III, Soul Stealer II). Same goes for the Bows I got.

Sorta. They're different sizes, and the designs and features and extra "fluff" on them is all different. I've made sure it doesn't look repetitive. A few buildings combined to a ++ shape, and the buildings at the docks are sort of a t shape.

And now after finally deciding to give Full Throttle Alchemist another try, I realized that most of the mod is focused on making farming easier or just outright removing all wait times, mostly thanks to the watering can which makes things even faster than they were in Dartcraft (although back then you could give animals a liquid force bath too). Said watering can completely cuts down the time required for farming crops as well, and the enchantment vellums do the same for enchanting in general.
At least the other part of the mod with the transmutation is interesting enough, but I guess would enjoy it more if my pack didn't already have so many mawmaw item transmutation mods.

tl;dr Dartcraft 2 doesn't have the tool infusion thingy anymore so into the trash it goes

I just played Minecraft recently and I'm amazed how much I've been drawn in. I dug underground tunnels for the hell of it and managed to find a zombie nest and two chests full of rare items. Every other time has landed good results since. Fucking Creepers are the worst, though. Is there any way to get around the world faster? That's my only gripe so far.

It looks like only half of the plant generated, maybe that slab generation you have there cut it half and maybe it's blockstate/model is setup in a way that its never supposed to be seperated from the other half of it's plant block so when you look at it your machine doesn't know what to do and crashes.
Have you tried placing it in a regular world via creative? Whats your crash log? Mod list?

I think you're right. The game crashes if they spawn on slabs and I can't place them on slabs even in creative. If it is placed in a regular way (two blocks tall), everything works fine.

Horses, but they often run faster than chunks load and makes travel extremely annoying.

The best thing you can do is farm endermen and use ender eyes to get around.

Packed ice and blocks two high can make a really fast road you can sprint jump on

Else, you need mods. Once you get the hang of vanilla and learn the basics you should probably move to mods before you start hating the game

I think you have too much faith in mod devs. everything you've just said basically amounts to, in the eyes of modders, "take this ore and run it through a handful of machines for your ingot"

That, and that process doesn't really sound "fun' in a game context. Accurate, yes, requiring infrastructure to set up, not sure if that's fun, depends on how material heavy it is. Maybe setting up the automation for it might be fun once?

I don't know about the Nature fork in the OP, but I think it's pretty good. Not sure.

PrimitiveMobs, ExoticBirds, GriomoireOfGaia, and MoC are all mods that add decent creatures to the game. PM and EB are good with their content, but MoC has terrible config for creature spawns (ie it takes forever to set up, although it'll probably work). Its items thankfully don't extend too far into the non-mob drop range. GoG has unchangeable mob drops but the rest is modular.

Snowfall mod, if you want.

AOBD for Thaumcraft ores and TiCon.

Update your BoP. It's outdated, current version fixes a bunch of shit and is version 1889. You'll probably want to disable hive spawns.

ThaumicBases, ThaumicAlchemy, and ThaumicExploration are all TC4 addons I use. Not sure what the entail, and as far as I can remember they're not necessarily must-haves. Still, check them out.

Waypoints mod adds easy and fairly balanced waypoint blocks (you require a 3x3 square of them to work, so 9 ender pearls for one waypoint).

DamageIndicators is VERY helpful for combat. Better than fucking 1.9, at least.

I also have a TiCon addon called "ExtraTiC", not sure what it does.

That's because it's better used for details, floors or other simple things than just getting spammed all over the place. Of course, my opinion might not mean shit because I'm physically incapable of building anything that looks decent but given the amount of shapes and details in most Ztones blocks that's what I get out of it.
The mod also has this garden soil that works great when you want to plant sugar canes without water nearby.

Just recently I was building my second story farm and there was a Hornet from the recently updated Hardcore Mobs and Girls. Somehow she jumped over my 3 tall fence and I nearly jumped out of my seat.

I also disabled Gazers from that mob which adds large flying eyes with tentacles that blind you with projectiles and made unsettling sounds.

Got bored teleporting around the Middle Earth dimension. The terrain gen is really interesting though. The White Mountains stretch up to 10 blocks of the world height.

Good news, though. Most of the armor and weapons are craftable, but only a few can be crafted with the materials I already have around my base.

Personally, I made a modpack with an emphasis on creature comforts. I mean, yeah, there are some tech mods and such, but it isn't jam-packed with tech to the point where you feel obligated to push through them. Hell, even now, my entire system is being run on an IE water wheel.

Seconding thaumcraft, that's what got me hooked on modded mc. In consideration for the future most people itt consider big reactors to be a tad over powered. This can make the game too easy and boring so perhaps consider removing it in your next playthrough. The same goes for quarries to a lesser extent.

Almost done blocks aside from the new fences and doors.

Todo: Items, mobs, other entities, particles, tentatively GUI.

Before I had fucked around with 3x item sprites, and 5x and I think 7x (going for odd numbers because fuck multiples of 8).

3x it's almost impossible to tell what most things are, I generally made lazy compromises anyways with things like entity textures (chest is just vanilla res but filled), and a recent torch fix.

I'll probably end up doing 3x, 5x, 7x and then mixing what looks best.

If the answer to both of these is yes, the boring start of blood magic is minimalized quite a bit, and you can easily get into the armor levelling and demon summoning bits somewhat quickly.

If the answer is no, you will be spending a lot of time recovering hp and empty-hand pulling things out of a gui-less interface for ages.

If you do get into it, look up how incenses works, and/or the blood letter's pack/coat of arms

As much as I like blood magic, it's a bit lackluster compared to other magic mods. It has no nice building blocks, but it does force you to conform some building to the altar, since it's huge. That said, it's by and large a mod about making the player themselves powerful.

Thaumcraft is likely going to be the definitive "comfy" magic mod, dispite the eldritch shit. It has nice building blocks, banners, candles, it doesn't expect you to do a whole lot of automation to progress, unless you just want to for overboard stuff

What? enderIO is super easy at pretty much every point. Basic mining and crafting is basically all the mod asks

You can't get into bloodmagic in 1.7 without a diamond at least, anyway. you will want to get into assmagic asap though, make SURE your first spell is projectile-dig, that one levels you up the quickest. Damage spells are shit until you get to level 20 or so, but this lets you ween xp out of them easier at least.

It feels dreadful because I'm not playing it with TCon. I did luck out with an Ender and enough Dark Iron for a Dark Pick and an Enchanter.

AM2 is just different from the other three magic mods I used.

Anyway, I'm forced to do some progress with Blood Magic because it's the only way to transmute Rotten Flesh into Leather.

assmagic does have a bit of a rough start. Aside from the whole level grinding bit, which is definitely the roughest part of it, spell component parts might be a small pain to come across.

playing it the right way, at level 20 you'll be able to make a 3x3/1x1 toggle projectile dig with silk touch
make sure to settle down near an ocean biome because you're going to spend a good chunk of your time grinding the water guardian, and it's basically gaia guardian toned down if you played botania, you'll also want to take frost magic after the digging spell first because he's vunerable to it
don't listen to the "level grinding is awful" shitters, it only becomes a problem when you're farming red infinity orbs instead of blue ones, and that's a LONG way in
also if you'll ever feel short on vintium (as if that'll ever happen) you can easily duplicate it using a calcinator and just smelting things over and over for free neutral essence

This. If they added stuff like a modding api or something they actually had planned, I'd like it. Expansion of potions, or enchanting, or ffs even cooking would've been welcome. The Nether in vanilla still feels bland, and overworld dungeons are still mediocre and never as mysterious as the "original" dungeon.

The game still feels like it's missing quite a bit, and it's fine for them to flesh out pre existing areas, but when they do less than most major mods it's really disappointing.
