Wait, you could get Fastcraft and Optifine to work together? Optifine really helps with FPS and adds a lot of graphical improvements, but Fastcraft fixes the lag you get when you open a new world or when generating chunks. If I use them together, I get a crash.

Textures are John Smith Modded.
The github has a lot of updated mod textures that aren't in the site's download.
Now that I learned about Essentia Mirrors I'm gonna keep a big library of jars nearby and connect it to the Altar that way.

I'm also wondering if trying to ward off my base with powered lanterns was a bad idea. Might fall back on Magnum Torches or something.

Kinda sounds like you're making an area that stops mobs from attacking rather than just stop mobs from attacking.

Anyway, I implemented it such that it's a 1 minute cooldown buff that lasts 30 seconds which makes mobs not attack you, unless you attack first in which case the buff fades away immediately.

That's the basement. I was under the assumption it affected multiple vertical levels and I haven't had a spawn inside my base yet so I'm assuming that's true.
Is there a reason they sometimes bug out? Some of them go dark but there's still light being cast, other times both the light and lantern go out. I thought even a string this large could support one hundred lanterns without running out of power.

Warded blocks would float, yes, but mc blocks float anyway, your logic is 1 step behind.

Worry more about the aesthetic implications of floating than the mechanical ones, how to show it properly. maybe build runic stones jutting out the bottom, whose symbole glow with power.

Spellcasting is basically tied into the armor (in my mind at least) since you can't use 80% of the spells without it. However, you are right, I should have specifically mentioned that aspect.

And my golem is specifically a mining golem. armor body, suction head, claw and hammer arm. I tried it, and have no interest in using it compared to other options on 1.8. Programming mining spells in psi is more fun, and tcon is more useful, as well as more fun to explore the changes of. You shouldn't, in 1.7 you can override the render method to use an object model of your choice for rendering blocks, tile entities, etc. For 1.8 everything uses the json model system by default, in that case you can copy or atleast use the vanilla blockstates as a guide and replace it's json model with yours. You could just use the tesr but it's going to be a pain in the ass down the raod.

Wish TC 1.7's smeltery wasn't such a framerate destroying piece of shit when automated and mass processing. EIO seems to have the best yields, but it's kind of boring. Probably ignore Thermal ___ entirely, I only installed it to bridge compatibility between TC and IE. IE's look great, they just seem less efficient than the others and I don't see the point of the Crusher unless I'm silk touching every gemstone ore.

Tip: if you find magicbox machines boring, try to spice them up by yourself. Make a structure around them with conveyors dropping items into a hopper that sends items into them, then make them shit dusts out of the back or something.
As for IE's crusher, its strong points are speed and how it doubles as a mob grinder (if you can get things to fall in there). It has the same yields as TE's pulverizer, including bonus dusts, so you don't lose on efficiency at all.

The door on the back leads to the Necromancer's personal room o' shrooms.

What do we really need to be full immersed in our terminal autism? for food we have already growthcraft (minus bamboo and bees), salty mod, gregtech. spice of life without iguana tweaks and only because i like having a balanced diet

For tech, we have immersive memengineering (because it has a in game manual), railcraft, ic2 and greg 6 (because ingame manuals and because i really like how it's going), warp overdrive and thaumcraft.

Also, witchery and mystcraft for a touch of magic and because owls are awesome.

The worlds are limited with world border and we are willing to live *different* avatars inside, so no ridiculus teching to the top, but instead we want to build things in all our world.

Also, bibliocraft, dynamic surroundings, garden stuffs and other for comphyness

Magic block: MFR planter, a machine which requires little to no tweaking and just puts saplings 3 meters away from it. No robot arm animation, no engineering on the part of the player just, poof, saplings are there.
Not magic block: Pistronics rods and pistons push around a block placer which places saplings and is refilled by a hopper.

Magic block: Vanilla furnace which causes chunks of ore to turn into ingot-shaped pieces of refined metal when you shove (you don't even have to light it, mind) a piece of coal under it.
Not magic block: TCon smeltery, a big giant basin where you put ores (the heating by lava is still a little magical though fampai) and then when they have been melted, you pour the molten metal out into a cast in the shape of an ingot, which then cools into an ingot.

I can only guess the mentality or tradition of always moving forward is swaying it. Even though we all know it's horrible we can't help but keep trying to move forward. There are some positive things that 1.8 has done and i know some modders love those changes and those few haven't run into any of the negatives yet or anything severe yet and have been able to drop 1.7 entirely so now we're getting a divide and people still on 1.7 almost feel obligated to move onto 1.8 despite it being a completely different experience because those individuals are running into the problems the others haven't. Its kind of hard to explain. Here's an example, modder A updates their simple mod and doesn't run encounter and of the major changes. Modder B tries but runs into those changes and has to retire or rewrite everything. Modder A then bitches at B because it was so easy for them and that B is holding everyone back. Now B feels obligated to do the impossible. I think in the end no one actually thought any of this update and it's bullshit through all the way.

uhm. i'm not too much into the technical side of things. but... let cables burn not only with eu/p but with eu/t too. make a special type of cable that permit energy transmission for very long distances in a straight line. Make it that you can use overclocker AND different energy interface. irl you have a different cable for different volts, make it that you don't blow up because the wrong cable automatically connected to your machine.

add a power fail switch and a button for shutting down the machines. Add fusibles.

Currently not, but I'll be on /mcg/ every day, just ask for the minetest fag and I'll answer and stuff.

Is there some kind of /mcg/ approved modpack? I really want to get back into the whole modding scene (I last played like, summer 2014), but all the modpacks seem like they just randomly shoved shit into the mods folder and gave it a name.

Have you guys ever considered making a modpack/server for this /vg/ thread? Could use something like ATG Launcher or MultiMC to distribute it to everyone, or just drop a zip down or whatever.

I just want a balanced modpack that isn't easy enough for me to hit endgame at the end of the week.
