There's 2 or 3 tiers of coldblood above Great One Coldblood. The highest known, Revered Great One Coldblood, gives 100k souls and has yet to be actually discovered ingame.

There's also a 3rd tier to the Guidance rune introduced in the dlc that exists only in chalice dungeons and has yet to be discovered. We'd still question if it even exists were it not for the guide confirming it.

kos only benefits from arcane. pure arcane builds have stuff like the beginning weapons + parasite of kos now. a good HMS build could obviously use kos, but it'd be terribly weak.

if you still want to do it, look at the arcane beginners guide posted around the thread. if you're going HMS, then you'll have some STR and maybe you can use whirligig saw to get through bosses (gem it up).

Attire has stats and looks
The stat differences are small and largely arbitrary, they're mainly just there for show
The main purpose of clothes is just fashion, so wear whatever looks best.

The only stats tied to clothes that matter are beasthood and frenzy. The former only matters if you use beast pellets regularly, and the latter only matters in like 2 areas in the game. In both cases, insight and runes have a much larger impact on that stat than your attire.

Attire means very very little. It's mostly just for being stylish, except for a few stats.

For instance. Charred Hunter set has great fire resistance. Black and White Church garb has good poison resistances. Ashen Hunter set has incredibly useful Frenzy resistance. Henryk's Hunter set has good Bolt resistance. The Cainhurst set supposedly has the best physical resistance in the game, but that's basically pointless.

Keep Ashen and Black/White Church around because it has tangible effects, equip when needs be, everything else is pure Fashionborne.

Insight doesn't matter statistically, since it lowers your frenzy resistance the more of it you have. Just don't worry about it.

Looking through the chalice speedrun guide, what's the point of lower loran? It says you don't need to complete it.

Loran is for waning gems. Only arc builds want waning gems. Arcane itself is better off with a triangle gem instead of a waning one, and fire can go either waning or triangle. Only bolt actually requires a waning gem to be optimal.

So unless you're an arcane build with the intent of using bolt, you have no real reason to access lower loran root frc dungeons.

The only other thing of interest in them is the tier 3 stamina rune, but clearing all of lower loran and killing camerabeast just for that one rune is kinda pointless when you can make do with the 2nd tier for only a 5% difference.

Amy arm is pure strength. The arc damage is token, just like the BoM and BB. Probably just there so you can't buff and double-dip the flat bonus on the R2s.

HMS is strength-leaning quality. The arcane is its weakest scaling stat, but gets a large modifier in tricked mode, making it as efficient as skill in that mode only. The projectiles are pure arc damage and based off your arc AR, but the actual swing portion of the R2 acts as a normal split damage swing.

If you want to optimize for most of the attacks, 50/25 str/skl is probably best but without any arcane the tricked R2s will be useless. You can compromise skl for arc to make the R2s worthwhile, but the untricked form will lose a fair bit of damage.

Ideally you want all 3 but you can't really fit them all onto a build at a reasonable level, so just choose which you want to compromise.

And remember, regardless of how you build it, you want triple nourishing gems for best overall damage.

My first FC was a few weeks ago and I had about a ~60% winrate using dlc brain gems. I fought more people using gems as bad as mine than I did people using top korea. I've spent some time in Seoul since then, but I'm sure there's still gonna be plenty of people that aren't perfectly gemmed.

He's a gigantic chore who seemed to be designed by "XD, so hard prepare to die LMAO!" people. You have no breathing room at all, and he's incredibly hard to punish if you have a slow weapon. That would be fine if not for the giant HP pool which doesn't match it at all, and turns it into a laborious endurance match just like most chalice/DLC bosses. This trend of making all bosses have HP bars the size of the universe is cancerous and makes me lose faith in the future of the souls series.

It sounds like you just have shit damage. By the time I fought both Abhorrent Beasts (you fight two relatively close to each other) I was doing good damage with my +10 kirkhammer. Not to mention, he has one of the easiest movesets to memorize and his damage isn't large enough to give you trouble unless you stupidly attack him head on. Also, saying most chalice bosses are endurance matches is laughable, get some better fucking equipment and git gud. The only consistently difficult bosses in the game are Gehrman, Orphan, and cursed/defiled chalice bosses.

The first chalice is accessible after blood-starved beast and balanced for that point in the game (eg., +2-+3 weapon). They progress in difficulty from there progressively. Lower pthumeru is around endgame (eg. +7 or 8 weapon) and everything from Loran onwards is effectively postgame content and will be more difficult than anyuthing you encounter in the main game (dlc notwithstanding)

The final end-tier chalices were balanced around 120, but by the time you get to them you should have acquired enough skill to do them by 98. Honestly though, since that's just PvP meta, you shouldn't worry about that until you want to become a minmaxed munchkin

Chalices are confusing as fuck to get into, and the overall opinion of them can be kind of polarizing. Just worry about playing through the main story first before you bother with this shit

Depends on your weapon. You can catch him after dodges just by spamming R1 with ludwigs untransformed or saw cleaver, just be mindful of being parried.

Blood Flask, 10 max uses, heals pretty much your whole bar, ability to sit at lamps to refresh the area, enemies no longer drop vials, no need to farm for it, bullets are renamed to just Quicksilver and it's treated more like a mana bar that recharges slowly and you get a burst back with visceral attacks, enemies drop chalice materials and more bloodgems instead

The Tower of Latria was the most atmospheric location in a Souls game. DeS was full of random drop offs and ambushes, making it feel especially scary on your first playthrough if you were new to the Souls series. It also made it feel like the game didn't give a shit about you, which was a unique experience. Tower Knight, Flame Lurker, Maneater, and Allant were all good bosses, although it did have a lot of dumb, gimmicky bosses. More locations were tedious and mediocre than good, but that's also true of Dark Souls. DeS is horribly overrated, and the weapon movesets are samey and boring, but it has its merits. It would have been better than DaS2 if DaS2 didn't have the DLC.
