1) Backup emunand and backup its folder in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/ (easier method: add a _ or something at the end of the folder so you don't have to copy it off your SD card, OR cut/paste it to the root of your SD card)
2) Go in emunand system settings, pick system format
3) Let it do its thing
4) Log into your NNID on newly formatted emunand
5) Restore emunand backup and put its folder back in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/

Running 10.3 CakesFW, how do I install cias to emuNAND?
The only way I've gotten cias to install is doing
Boot>Bootmanager>PastaFW>Bootmanager>Homebrewlauncher>FBI>install cias
but after I try this, the cias show up (missing thumbnails) in sysnand for a second and then disappear.
When I try a reinstall them, FBI says I already have them installed. What am I doing wrong?

It disappeared, meaning it injected properly: OFW doesn't like unsigned CIAs, so it hides it until you run a CFW in sysnand. Try using pasta or cakes in sysnand and you should see H&S again. If you run it and it's FBI, use it to install FBI.cia

yea i have all three 3DS homebrew links open and nothing talks about my firmware.

I've downgraded to 9.2 installed menuhax, etc, backed up NAND, injected the correct FBIs (3077) and rxTools is telling me "Failed to load NATIVE_FIRM: 4 Reboot rxTools and try again".

EASIEST METHOD: If you have a DS flashcard that works on your 3DS, open the MSET folder in the rxtools download and put the .nds file (rxinstaller.nds) on your DS flashcard's SD card. Now run it with your DS flashcard and select "rxtools 4.x".
To install MSET with FBI, you need to have FBI 1.4.14 or higher on your sysnand. Simply launch rxmode sysnand, launch FBI, and press SELECT. Now, select "rxtools3.x 4.x". MSET should now be installed.
To install MSET with the internet browser, simply put the rxinstaller.bin (from the MSET folder) on your SD card root. Then launch the browser and go to http://dukesrg.github.io/?rxinstaller.bin or http://dukesrg.no-ip.org/3ds/cakes/?rxinstaller.bin . It should freeze and crash, and send you back to the home menu. MSET should now be set up.
To launch rxTools via MSET, just turn on your 3ds, go to System Settings-> Other Settings-> Profile-> Nintendo DS Profile, and rxTools should boot.

2. Insert your Old SD card into your PC.
3. Extract your EmuNAND from there and put it somewhere sage.
4. Copy the entire contents from your Old SD to your PC.
5. Insert your new SD Card into your PC.
6. Use a tool like MiniTool Partition Manager to format the card to Fat32. Don't fuck that up and wipe your HDD or something.
7. Insert your SD card into your 3DS after putting the Gateway Launcher.dat on there.
8. Do the Backup Emunand thing again on your new SD card.
9. Inject your old emunand file (that you put safe) onto your new SD card.
10. Copy the contents of your old SD card to the new one.
11. Insert and you should be done.

If v1.0.3 gives an error, try v1.0.1 of EmuNAND tool.

I moved my MK7 folder to save some space to play Layton. Once finished I removed my Layton folder to play MK7 but the icon won't appear on the menu, and Layton's icon is still there. THis is weird because I did the same thing with MHX and it worked fine. Any info ?

Browserhax to set up menuhax. Download gateway-3ds.com latest .zip, put launcher.dat on root and merge the /3ds/ folder from the 3dsx.zip in that same archive

Homemenuhax to HBL (need starter.zip contents on sd card too) and launch GW.3dsx

Press A while holding Up on Downgrade Console to flash NAND.bin back to SysNAND

Reboot into homemenuhax, launch pastaCFW, hold trigger button to prevent menuhax, run browserhax into HBL. Run FBI.3dsx in HBL and install FBI.cia to SD

After that, format EmuNAND with EMUNAND9, then format SysNAND with TinyFormat.

Once again, reboot into homemenuhax, launch pastaCFW, hold trigger button to prevent menuhax, run browserhax into HBL. Run FBI.3dsx in HBL and install FBI.cia to SD

Finally, copy all your files back on your 3DS

If you followed those instructions as-is, you should now have FBI (CIA installer) on SysNAND and EmuNAND, and you should also have all your games+saves reading from emunand, but sysnand should look clean.

At this point, you should be ready to prepare a CFW like RxTools or Cakes so you can boot into your new EmuNAND.

Good luck. Please note that even if you do get FBI on SysNAND you won't actually see it unless you run a CFW like pasta on SysNAND.

This is because OFW doesn't like non-legit CIAs on home menu and it tries to hide them. When you boot into a CFW like pasta (which boots into sysnand, not emunand), it patches signature checks so you can see+run your non-legit CIAs.

Emunand exists to prevent bricks by installing bad stuff to sysnand, so you can recover from emulated bricks

Try entering eShop on your EmuNAND. Update to 10.3 if you're on O3DS via system settings (double check that you are truly in emunand by setting a theme on the NAND that won't let you install. also exiting system settings boots you into sysnand).

If N3DS, let eShop fail to load and don't update. Try to install CIAs on emunand again and see if that worked.

My SD got corrupted(apparently it just died on me after 5 years) and even though I have my old emuNAND.bin I had a few games already installed on the curropted memory. Lucky I could manage to save what was inside of it after a few attempts of troubleshooting but here is my problem


Can I inject my OLD emuNAND.bin to my new microsd and copy my files there? Will the games that were installed work even though it was After my emuNAND.bin ild backup?


Please help me clarify this

Yes I remember doing that during the CFW installation process. I didn't use TinyFormat though which is why my eshop doesn't work now.

Alright so I injected FBI into emunand health and safety app, however my system version is still 9.2.0-20U, isn't it supposed to have RXE at the beginign now? Or do I need to follow this guide?

You can't. Forget about it. Be glad it isn't 3.52, so you can still run native homebrew via Rejuvenate.

Well, technically it's possible via hardmodding it, dumping the NAND, corrupting the current firmware partition and flashing it back. Vita will fall back to recovery partition with whatever firmware it had installed before updating to 3.50.

Hey guys, could use a little help here. I'm on CakeFW, n3ds, 9.5 emunand with 9.2 sysnand.

I'm trying to run GBA cias but I'm getting a black screen with an error saying to reboot. I've installed the cias on both sys and emu, no luck. Do i need AGB_FIRM? I thought I didn't, I was reading that cakeFW had working gba unlike rxtools.

Honestly, despite what everyone says, this is the hardest part now. Getting to 9.2 is baby, getting the actual CFW up has a billion different guides that all seem to fail a billion times before anything gets done.

I'm tempted to get pic related for Wii U games once WII U hacks happen (bestbuy because I have a giftcard).

On the other hand I feel like I should wait until the hacks are released to make sure games will run off SD cards. It's only on sale till January 14 though. Best deal I could find on bestbuy for a 128gb microSD or SD, and I already have a spare adapter.
