Actually, if you want to have a genocide run and you're worried about it ruining your True Pacifist run then worry no more, there's a very simple way to avoid the consequences and it's not even cheating:

Simply play the game on a different user account. Undertale saves are saved to a folder that is specific to each user account on your computer. That way you don't have to "juggle" your saves around as you'd have to if you were using a single user account, and more importantly, you don't have to worry about Steam Cloud ever "infecting" your Steam save files accidentally because you can either play with an always disabled Steam cloud on your other account (Steam settings are also bound to your PC account) or you can just make a new Steam account as well to be double-triple sure that your saves will never mess up, no matter the Steam Cloud settings (it may happen sometimes perhaps that the settings get turned on again without you noticing when Steam updates or something).

Furthermore, it's easy to rationalize doing a Genocide Run this way, because since you're on a different PC account, you can pretend that that's not really you, you are *merely* pretending to be (roleplaying) an asshole.

That protects your conscience and allows you to sleep easy at nights.

Experimenting with the mechanics I ended up killing couple of froggits and just muffet and undyne because I couldn't figure a way past them. It did feel kinda dissonant. I wasn't even convinced that Undyne had died because they were the only one who didn't shatter to dust and you couldn't see their soul shatter. Which I still think is just weird.
