Hi, /feg/.

I have this issue. See, I'm not very good at games like Smash Bros or Fire Emblem unless a certain requirement is fulfilled. I play very terribly with characters and utilize units incorrectly unless I can envision them right next to me, cheering me on to use them to their full potential within the game itself. Why is this important?

Well I plan on maining Mamui. He obviously isn't real, so I require help at fulfilling my criteria. I need someone to come to my house, go into my bedroom, and cosplay Mamui for me so I can get good in this game. As this with be a long and hard training session, I recommend you bring snacks and whatever else you need.

neat. I actually saw a Good Smile Lucina figure at Frank and Son's Collectibles in Rowland Heights, California. that's also where I acquired a Robin amiibo. Unfortunately Lucina was the only non-amiibo Fire Emblem merchandise they had there. I've been looking everywhere for more but in the meantime I used the amiibo to get Robin in Fire Emblem If Special Edition. and Thoron looks fucking weird in this game. it's like the Levin Sword and Thoron work like in Smash as opposed to how they did in Awakening. the fact that I can dress up even the Einherjar and give them colored glasses is pretty cool I guess. shame I need the Lucina amiibo to even use the Parallel Falchion instead of Lucina's replica.

Tsubasa is the one who is not keeping up the pace, any magic skills you may want to use are irrelevant once you get Kiria, any physical lance stuff Toma is more useful for, she doesn't even learn many buff skills and she can't take hits. Forgot to mention, even with healing, Itsuki is able to learn Dia, I even have him with Dia+1 right now. It's not as effective as Tsubasas since lower mag or whatever and he has less EP reserves but still. And even then there's also items you can use to heal. She also has some status removal skill but as far as I can tell I think it's only been able to remove poison only, and there's items to do that too. So as of now, Tsubasa is least best girl.

Just finished playing Birthright through the translation patch. Can't comment on characters since the supports and endings aren't translated. Played the game on hard classic. To give a spoiler free review:

Presentation/Graphics: Overall much better than Awakening. There are some pretty cool critical animations (Trueblade kick, lancer, and Adventurer come to mind), the models look better, and the cutscenes that make use of battle graphics are handled very well. As far as character designs go, honestly, PoR and RD are the only games I'd say have more appealing looking characters.

Music: This was also greatly improved over Awakening's, and I'd say it's definitely in the top 5 of the series, with me personally putting it at 4th behind FE4, RD, and FE12. While I liked Aqua's song, is does get kinda annoying hearing the same one song so often.

Story: From how people talk about the story in Hoshido/Fates, you'd think it was complete shit, but honestly it wasn't that bad. It feels more like the story just didn't meet the expectations that people were hoping it would. The two main problems I felt the story had were that 1. The format is very episodic, and its structure really does feel more like something you'd see a manga author write compared to a game writer. 2. The whole story is really just one big long arc, making the pacing feel kinda odd. The mysteries that I'm guessing IK reveals didn't really feel that huge, but it's obvious there's some pull for it there. Story feels more strongly defined by a few select moments than as an overall experience The route didn't portray Nohr as evil as people seem to imply as it really feels more like Garon is evil rather than Nohr.

Gameplay: Everything up to chapter 14 and after chapter 22, along with the paralogues, are pretty fun chapters. Ryouma being too OP is the only thing I'd say brings the gameplay down, but it's overall a really fun and great improvement. Final boss battle was good.

Marx is probably the closest thing to Ryoma Nohr has (from my experience at least) and he's not ridiculously broken. He won't pull a Ryoma and become an Astra Crit Monster with a buffed lightning version of Killing Edge.
Siegfried is a pretty good weapon and does a decent amount of damage, but you'll need to keep using Marx and stop him from slipping too far under the enemy levels if you want him to be useful, red beam shooting sword and all.
I'm kinda pissed that Yatogami doesn't have magical beam/projectile shooting properties.

The thing about said "heavy investment" is that it's actually worthwhile. LTCs basically consist of hyper strong Marcia flying Ike around with the eventual help of Jill and Titania.

It doesn't matter how much investment it takes by itself as long as the return is worthwhile, and giving Marcia a bunch of BEXP in a situation where no one besides her needs BEXP isn't bad. Marcia is one of the best units of PoR and that happens purely because BEXP exists and her early availability.

PoR is more or less the same situation as Awakening. Tier lists are completely useless because you only need two or three character tops. If Ike didn't have to fight Ashnard he wouldn't be used at all period.

The difference here is that this isn't because of the maps being shit, but because the enemies are ridiculously weak and Marcia is all you need to trivialize most maps by rescuing Ike around, add some Jill to the mix if you want to shove more turns and there you go. You still use other units as shovebots or to setup rescue chains, but on combat? Marcia and Titania are pretty much the only ones to do shit 90% of the time.
