Backup your SD card somewhere, install Menuhax through Iron, then try it. It has a higher success rate with Menuhax it seems. If that doesn't work then update to 10.3 and try again. You don't lose your games once you downgrade.

If by that you mean a sigpatched sysnand, you can do that with miniPasta. Otherwise, if you don't trigger ctrbootmanager at all (by not triggering menuhax) you'll boot into a clean sysnand.

1) Gather files

I WOULD RECOMMEND TuxSH's build since its lead to less bricks compared to steve

Get one of those and the correct region and firmware update for your console that can be found here:

DO NOT FUCK THIS PART UP

get the 9.0 or 9.2 updates

2) when both are completed you should have a two zip files

3)extract the firmware update zip file and inside of it should be an updates folder. put that folder on the root of the sd card

4)extract the other zip file and there should be a folder called "sysUpdater"

5)take that folder and put it in the "3ds" folder of your SD card

6)run homebrew launcher preferably through ironhax or menuhax

7)find sysupdater in the menu

8) plug in your charger

9)click it and choose downgrade. if you get to this step and dont immediately see the option to downgrade hard reboot and try again

10)???

11) Profit

Give it a couple of minutes and boom you've successfully downgraded to a firmware possible of running custom firmware.

Well I tried to install the 9.2 payloads for ironhax on a seperate save file before downgrading, and upon rebooting none of my ironhax save files work.

RETARDS GUIDE: AUTOBOOTING RXTOOLS EDITION

prerequisites:

>unlinked nands
>between 9.0.0-20 and 9.2.0-20 FW
1)download starter kit on smealums github

download this rxtools build

2) delete any old hax payloads on SD card from when you were on 9.3+

3)put starter kit and rxtools folder in the zip all on the root of your sd card

4)go to https://dukesrg.github.io/?rxTools/sys/code.bin in the browser so rxtools can install data for the first time.

5)once its done quit and this time run browserhax to install menuhax 2.1

6)once menuhax 2.1 is installed go to configurations and set it to autoboot. it will ask you to set a button to launch menuhax. tapping the touch screen is the autoboot option

7)turn off system and go download ctr boot manager from here

So then I removed the unlinked sysNAND folder from the Nintendo 3ds folder on the SD. I booted into sysNAND but managed to use the browserhax to get into rxTools. What can I do so that I autoboot into rxTools or my emuNAND? Send help

It has region free but it doesn't screenshot. but there's an app that runs over rxtools called NTR CFW 3.2 which is essentially both of those things. it makes DLC region free too(rxtools doesnt unfortunately).

They can work but only if you boot into Rxtools sysnand mode. if you dont use rxtools sysnand mode, non legit CIA's will not work on your regular sysnand

I know this and this isn't my problem.

The problem was that I unlinked my NANDs but the 3ds would autoboot into my sysNAND rather than rxTools. I managed to boot into rxTools via browserhax but I want to autoboot into it.

Now I managed to get menuhax on my sysNAND but when it autoboots, it goes into a yellow screen. I don't know what to do.
