RETARDS GUIDE TO DOWNGRADING

1) Gather files

THERE ARE CURRENTLY TWO RELIABLE BUILDS

I WOULD RECOMMEND TuxSH's build since its lead to less bricks compared to steve

Get one of those and the correct region and firmware update for your console that can be found here:

DO NOT FUCK THIS PART UP

get the 9.0 or 9.2 updates

2) when both are completed you should have a two zip files

3)extract the firmware update zip file and inside of it should be an updates folder. put that folder on the root of the sd card

4)extract the other zip file and there should be a folder called "sysUpdater"

5)take that folder and put it in the "3ds" folder of your SD card

6)run homebrew launcher preferably through ironhax or menuhax

7)find sysupdater in the menu

8) plug in your charger

9)click it and choose downgrade. if you get to this step and dont immediately see the option to downgrade hard reboot and try again

10)???

11) Profit

Give it a couple of minutes and boom you've successfully downgraded to a firmware possible of running custom firmware.

Guy from the last thread trying to edit his CTRBootManager boot.cfg to support rxTools 2.6 - changing the path to /rxTools.dat doesn't load anything in CTR, it just hangs. My HomeBrewMenu loads fine. Some people said it might just not recognize this version of rxTools?

So I've been trying to get FBI to install legit cias that came from the torrent in the other thread using menu/iron/browser hacks but always end up freezing at "Done!", and noticed from the previous thread it seems to be the same with the downgrader.

So will powering the n3ds on and off so many times in such a short time frame damage the hardware?

Anyway hopefully a better modified FBI to install legit cia on 10.3 will be released until downgrading is safe on n3ds.

Which FBI Injection should I use?

Softbrick on both tux and steve sysupdaters. Made sure I have 9.2.0-20U(Full) on my sd card for my old 3DS xl but it still just softbricks on startup, whether or not the sd card is in.

Can't think of what I'm doing wrong. The updaters seem to go through fine but it just doesn't work on reboot.

here's what I did

1)download starter kit on smealums github

download this rxtools build

2) delete any old hax payloads on SD card from when you were on 9.3+

3)put starter kit and rxtools folder in the zip all on the root of your sd card

4)go to https://dukesrg.github.io/?rxTools/sys/code.bin in the browser so rxtools can install data for the first time.

5)once its done quit and this time run browserhax to install menuhax 2.1

6)one menuhax 2.1 is installed go to configurations and set it to autoboot

7)turn of system and go download ctr boot manager from here

I'll spoonfeed you since I had the same question when I got mine.

you have to take off the screws on the back cover and pry it off to access it. it's a major pain in the ass, the screws don't come out all the way (captive), you have to pry it off and make sure not to break or chip it.

My advice is to put in the biggest, name-brand SD you have around the house. Probably best to stick with 32 or 16 Gb, apparently bigger ones work but have to dick around formatting them and shit.

Once you have your big SD card in there, you can transfer files wirelessly to and from a windows PC. I haven't tried it yet with a linux or mac client, but I will. I hate having to use my cuckdows machine instead of my linux daily driver for it.

Few tips for those backing up and doing other stuff their sys/emunands:

>They compress really well, so you can easily halve or more their size.
