Haven't played them yet, but EDF2 and Freedom Wars are pretty popular at the moment, and they might have a more "western" feel. Than, say, Neptunia or Atelier. The Vita Killzone and Uncharted games get recommended a lot, too.

Just to clarify, Vita games themselves are region-free. The extra account(s), and thus card(s), are for the sake of online and DLC. Online is region-specific for some games at least (not all, IIRC), and DLC can only be purchased from the appropriate region's PS Store.
The specific case of Monster Hunter Frontier G is one that would presumably require a Japanese PSN account as currently the only servers are the Japanese ones. Also, the game is in Japanese, obviously.

You have to do a system restore to switch accounts (e.g., take the US card out --> format/restore --> put the JP card in). It's a good idea to backup your data so you don't accidentally fuck up the order and delete it.
But you should be doing that anyway: memory cards have been known to die on occasion.
Note that because of the system restore, you also have to reenter all of your network settings, etc., every time you switch accounts.

I finally powered through Ys: Memories of Celceta today. Was anyone else massively disappointing? I fucked up playing it after Oath in Felghana, which is incredible. The story was boring and the structure of the gameplay didn't capture my interest very well.

It's my first Ys, and thanks to that I now have bad image of Ys games. I should probably try some other that people say are better, but I really lost any will try any more after MoC. That really isn't what has been happening in /vitagen/ though, 750 posts is usually reached even if the image limit has been reached earlier. And 750 is the more preferable since you can't bump the thread after that. But I do agree that after the image limit is reached, the thread almost always slows down a lot. They should just increase the limit by 50 and that amount would probably be enough.

However they have slightly better attack patterns so it's harder to mesh buttons through the entire game. Similarly, there are also more boss-like type of monsters and you can't just mesh buttons for them. Hence, while the game is still easy for story mode, it's harder than U.
There's also an online quest mode, that you probably will only want to do for post game. That mode has something like 10 bosses. Those can be a little challenging when your level is "normal" say 30-40. At level 99 you take little damage so it doesn't matter too much.
