I really hope Dark Souls 3 isn't as grindy as Bloodborne.

I'm already glad that Estus Flasks are returning so that we don't have to grind for healing items in that game.

I also just hope that super rare drops are available at merchants on the release date version of the game instead of waiting 7-8 months for that feature to be patched in (the way Blood Rock purchases have just been patched in for 60 Insight).

It's never fun playing the game and hoping that you can get that 5% drop rate item within a reasonable amount of time.

The gems have level rating, right? Rating 19 gems, they should have level requirements and let them be universal to characters, for example.

You have to beat mergo to unlock the item that lets you transfer gems, and the character needs to meet the level requirements for the gem itself.

Lets say rating 12 -15 require levels 50 and up, rating 19 requires level 100 and up. Level 20 requires level 120.

This makes new characters a non issue, and removes twinking of low levels with top teir gems.

Remove summon health penalty to go with this. Open up invasions.

Fixes everything.

To be clear, I don't think hyper armor is necessarily a bad thing. I like it in DeS and pre-DLC Bloodborne, I just think they took a slightly heavy hand with it in the DLC. Like I don't get why Saif has hyper armor when it's about the same speed as tricked saws, and why HMLS has more hyper armor than Logwheel/Kirkhammer. It feels like almost everything from the DLC has some hyper armor on it, which in turn makes hyper armor less special as a property to have.

idk I haven't done a lot of PvP since the DLC came out, maybe I will like it more with time. It just feels like having hyper armor on so many moves leads to similar problems as poise.

This forced a lot of people to go SL100, where they quickly realized how much of a bullshit advantage FAI builds had with Heal miracles, the only way to heal in the arena, and buffs that stayed active after death.
So you went FAI / DEX at 100, or you played with SL200 gigafucks with everything.

Here are some particular reasons:

Matchmaking separated into SL tiers that didn't fit the meta level of 120 that everybody had been playing at prior to the DLC releasing.
Queue times were fucking enormous.
Killcount deathmatch format is a terrible format for 1v1 PvP for so many reasons. TWoP spawncamping, "get one kill then run away" was a real strategy, and just the fact that after killing your opponent your health/casts don't reset, but theirs does.

Generally you want increased stamina curses, but if you're PvP'ing then you can just get away with beast/kin curses. You can even run two different weapons with each curse so you don't have to deal with swapping gems out for PvE.
