it's really good for low sat hairs which AA2 handles awfully due to the really inconsistent gradience in the default texture
but the real annoying thing about the vanilla hairs is the vanilla hilight. looks fine sometimes, but other time it doesn't at all. it's too bad there's no global hilight replacer.
i still prefer the vanilla texture generally speaking for 40 sat+ hairs, but the other flat look is very anime too, and for a lot of non-oc it looks objectively better

There's quite a few hairs that have no place in HEXAHP imo. Characted-specific like Mass Effect hairs, Byonetta, Celty's Helmet and arguably Junko's hair as well as front hair 112 and side hair 102 (pilot helmet) should all be in HEXAOC because they're never used in other characters.

We have a lot of hairs that could fill those slots but they're included in HEXAOC instead even though they're not that char-specific. My guess is that's because people loose their shit whenever something changes slots and HEXAanon has to listen to their bitching so he's reluctant to do it. And modders never make hairs specifically to be included in the nonextra slots so we may never fill them.

Clothes are probably very high up there with how difficult they are to implement, the system this game uses is very archaic. It's why we barely have cloth modders that can put out full releases, most of the time sviex is enough to scare them off.

It was more of a side effect really because I was unable to build it for x64. trying to reproduce non-oc givrd you an objective standard to strive for and you learn a lot about general anime proportions.
at some point, the sliders will stop being as important and things like iris textures, color coordination, and interesting hair combos will be the real hard part.
like, for example, there is this card creator I like here who uses very similar proportions for his eyes and face for most of his cards. you can easily call sameface on that and call it a day, but he comepensates for the homogenity of the eyes with very good use of color, great iris texture choices and hair combos.
sliders are easy for the most part, its the other stuff that can be difficult in my opinion.

The meshes are fine though, anime style isn't very detailed at all. It's a flat anime face. Arguably the only thing truly wrong with the faces might be the nose, but that's more an issue with that section lacking sliders.
CM3D2 has a very similar mesh, it's just low poly in comparison, the texture is even more flat, and the nose is more of a line. Not sure what you're looking for.

CM3D2 resembles a lot of modern 2D styles more accurately. The way the eyes are done in AA2 really bugs me, and yeah - the noses aren't great either.
I could go into long, detailed specifics why I think they're stylized better in CM3D, but no one in in AA2 threads seem to agree with me whenever I bring it up.

I don't know if I can really agree with that except in terms of maybe a few eye shapes that AA2 is lacking. A direct comparison of the two mesh shapes from both games though proves that they're very similar styled faces, the only main difference is the nose, really. Though that's really only in a comparison to the DDH mod, the vanilla AA2 face have issues in my opinion. What with the jaw line being extremely big (some people like it, though) and the face being too wide, the distance between the eyes, ears, and nose being nonsensical when you look at most anime stuff.
There are mods that fix that. DDH makes the face less wide, the jawline also gets pushed up and it isn't a monkey-esque as the vanilla faces are. There are variations on that face that bring the ears down to eye level, overall it resembles a anime face just about as much as CM3D2, except the mesh quality is better. I still don't think the noses are that great though.
In terms of eyes alone I think AA2 is better than CM3D2. In-fact, I didn't really like CM3D2's eyes until the game was released when they (very quickly) added 3 more faces which were far better than the 3 previous garbage ones they had going on. AA2 gives a nice general shape without the hand holding crap from CM3D2 in that you have more customization options over the eyes, lashes, upper eyelashes, bottom eye lashes, iris texture and reflection are customization completely utilizing the textures that you have made. And Faces 1, 2, 3 , 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 all have different eye shapes that can accurately reproduce most anime eye shapes (though there isn't a face that can reproduce high vertical eyes that great unfortunately. CM3D2 has a pretty good face that can do that). AA2 also lacks the sameyness that CM3D2 has in comparison just due to the larger amounts of eye customization.
Have you been through HEXAOC? There are a lot of face options in there. One might be what you're looking for.

The problem with AA2's eyes is that they are very horizontal and place emphasis in width, while a lot of 2D art styles go for height. I don't know about you, but I find that setting eye width between 120 and 150 while keeping height below 100 gives out the best looking results. Trying to set height much higher tends to make eyes look like garbage and never anything like what you're probably referring to.
That's what CM3D2 does a damn lot better than AA2. Unfortunately, it also loses on the more horizontally inclined styles, and has a lot less eye customization which causes some homogeneity in character making.

You didn't really address my points or my question, but oh well.
Going through these points, I don't really think they're fair, or, at the very least, it's pretty biased in the sense that you didn't even bother to launch the game and make a static reference like you gave for CM3D2. That screenshot from the thread and the screenshots you took from CM3D2 to illustrate "bad neck anatomy" aren't even really comparable reference images in the first place, one is at an angle, in a pose, the other is standing still, and you have two completely different angles for both of them. The other examples are, I assume, not supposed to be an example of good neck anatomy since the neck is covered up anyway.

That guy is using a mod. And in any case, the way the hilights are set up in AA2 is probably better anyway since they actually look like reflections in movement. CM3D2's just look like turned over hour glasses and are static in movement. It really depends on what you prefer, but hilights are so inconsistent and anime and your reference from CM3D2 isn't really indicative of what a lot of animes utilize for their hilight system.
