Somebody help me out real quick:

I've been trying to host a modded server for me and my friend to play, but everytime he tries to connect to my public IP it fails.

I've portforwarded 25565 to my Internal IP and portchecking tools confirm this. Great.

Me and said friend have the same version of MC with exactly the same mods installed.

I can run the MC Forge server jar file and the console sees no issues. I can connect to my own server fine, but he cannot.

What could I be overlooking here, because I have no idea what the problem is.

ATG is okay, but it doesn't do Oceans which is bugger all useless if you have Railcraft installed, but it nicely spreads biomes which RTG doesn't.

Looks okay. It is weird that the water is coming out of nowhere, though.

Practically, you could get more RF out of it by putting running water on more sides of the wheel: top, back, and bottom. Just make sure the water is all flowing in the same direction around the wheel.

If you weren't building at crag heights you could even put liquified glowstone/aerotheum, which flows upward, on the front side to squeeze a few more RF out. They dissipate or turn to solids above Y=128, though.

After fiddling with Custom Ore generator for a while. I have determined that i am retarded and can't get it to spawn how I want it.. I want ore to generate exactly like it does in vanilla except make it rarer and you get more per vein. I looked at Harder ores and that is pretty much how I want it, but without all of the extra types of ore and items that mod adds. I tried turning off the harder ores features I didn't want, but there didn't seem to be an option for it in the configs. Anyone got a mod suggestion or setting parameters that would work?

What are some good modpacks for playing with friends that are on Curse's thingy?

Trying to have a bit of fun with my friends since one of us is finally willing to host a server.

We're doing Regrowth now, trying to stick to packs that feature an HQM guide.

I think a good Skyblock pack might be fun for us to do, or something like Crash Landing, but I'm not sure, and want to hear some other opinions on the matter.

Doing that makes the mod seemingly have no effect. All the ores will gen to what looks like vanilla standard even if I put the ore frequency to 0.05, the ore deposit size to 0.05 and set all ore types to spawn as vanilla. It works pretty well if I leave the ore type to it's defaults, but anything else and it seems to fuck itself sideways.

To add to that, I can't seem to actually use harder ores. Even when I remove every mod except NEI,RTG,CoG and harder ores. My game refuses to run harder ores. it takes about 10 minutes to prepare the spawn area, then it hangs until I force close Minecraft. Which is why I am looking for another way to get that ore setup. Minus the extra bits and bobs.

If Steelworks and the drawbridges were separate mods I might stop using TiCon, but having a silky hammer is still really useful.

Technomancy is a Thaumcraft add-on, including stuff to move and store essentia more effectively.
It also adds a fucking PEN which lasts about ten times longer than the fucking quill and ink. If the rest of the addon ever goes to shit but that stays I will still use it. That pen is a godsend.

Performance went up, as now you have two separate threads doing different tasks - even if you count the slight fall caused by the need to pass data from one to the other, it's a net increase in available horsepower on anything that has two or more cores, especially in terms of how much can tick in your world - however, latency went up too as now one thread has to wait for the other to get data and process it, creating lag.

The problem with porting traincraft is how much of it relies on IDs for everything and all the fucking render code has to change. On top of that, each loco runs from a base 'bogie' entity which needs to be fixed which would be painful to do without the unobfuscated source since pretty much every function and method is "func_666diks".

Frankly it'd be easier to write the underlying features of the mod from scratch but re-use the models.
But with real source it could be done way faster.
it's a lot to do for someone like me--ie, no modding experience whatsoever and little experience with Java but understanding of object-oriented programming.

Here are the innards of the big guy. Yeah, I know the inside is shit because it's wool, but I didn't want to throw in a big balloon or anything on the sides.

It includes: Furnace! Crafting table! Four chests! Energy condenser with 4 MK2 collectors! A rope ladder system that either creates or destroys a ladder as needed! Warning: You might have to replicate some rope ladders eventually.

Also, the reason the glowstone moves in the small picture is because that small one was taken last, after I flew it around. Apparently microblocks aren't taken along for the journey when I fly around. I had to take out some airbags to replace them with glowstone.

Only thing I need to do now are add some airship engines in the rear that I can flood with coal, but other than that, it's done!

And yes, I'm fully aware that I will regret all of this. But who cares! I'm having fun!

You need to mix ardite, obsidian, and blood to make Fairy. Then, mix iron, cobalt, and blood to make Pokefennium. Then mix the Fairy and Pokefennium with Draconium and Liquid XP to make Primal Mana.

I guess the best thing to do would be to have both a realistic water physics mod and a mod that raises both the ocean level by 60. Maybe raise the terrain outside of the sea by 60 as well so that there is a similar amount of land but much deeper oceans.

I just have a massive hard-on for realistic water physics (I've always wanted a mod that adds stuff to the ocean and made complex airlock construction a necessity), and it would always be fun to design fail-safe measures to lockdown the underground facility if the walls were breached by a monster or machinery explosion.

Forge OreDict changes a lot of vanilla recipes to use oredict entries instead of items. It probably replaced the oak plank items in the vanilla door recipes with <ore:plankWood>. You may have to use minetweaker to remove the recipe for vanilla doors and re-add it using plain <minecraft:planks>.

I've never really gotten into terrain gen mods, and i'm not really super familiar with the whole of the modding community at this point because i stopped playing for a long time after the hunger update, but i got some really shit luck on a world i'm invested in recently, so i was thinking maybe i should go for it this time.

The only terrain gen mod i remember was biomes o' plenty, but at the same time i remember it being referred to as bloat o' plenty, which really isn't ideal for me and my system.
Can anyone suggest a good one, maybe note why it's your personal favourite?

Well, yes they do stack, and no they don't exactly cancel each other out. The "treasure" modifiers cancel out, but the speed bonus from Lure increases your income enough that it beats a plain unenchanted rod.

An unenchanted rod has 10% junk, 5% treasure, and a 500 tick average cast.

Flying might make fighting certain bosses a bit better since I personally find the ones that spam fireballs/explosions to be annoying as fuck when you get thrown around all over the place.

it's a weird mod, unpolished, ugly, and with bad english, but it has some nice, useful items. I don't know if I can really reccomend it, but if you are feeling adventurous, might as well try it.

Decided to change things up a bit and jumped to the latest snapshit.
With the combat and mob changes spelunking on hard is now straight up scary. You need to be very strategic approaching mobs and always have an escape route.

There were some nice changes though, you can get from very low health (like in the screenshot) to full health in like 5 seconds when your hunger bar is full, thanks to the new saturation/regen changes.

Dying can be really painful as-is, if you don't have gravestones and despawning destroys, let's say, a bunch of Thaumcraft infusion items and a full suite of top-tier TCon tools.

This is along the lines of what I was looking for. The HP thing in particular sounds pretty good, especially since I have TiCon installed so I could always- to a certain limit, and with a fair bit of resources and effort- make up for lost heart containers that way. Would any mod let me do that?
