Bumping request from last thread. Anyone know a mod that will give a heavier impact on dying besides just losing my items? A long-term debuff on respawn, or (semi-)permanent HP loss if I die too often, would be great.

Actually, maybe I could just work in reverse and build myself HP as I progress, with the danger being losing that on death along with the rest of my items. I vaguely recall a mod like that, but can't recall the name. If anyone knows it, that'd be great, too.
>>
>>126187149
> I vaguely recall a mod like that
Maybe I wasn't specific enough. I vaguely recall a mod -that would allow you to change how much HP a new player in the world starts with,- and I think there might have been some in-mod way to increase your max health, too. I also have no clue whether it was for 1.6.4 or 1.7.10; I sorely hope it's been updated if the former is the case.

The 'wrong' part is that if you don't want your mod or modpack badly represented, you're suddenly the WORST MOST EVIL bad guy because you don't want your mods in their horrid pile of shit. And they usually throw your mod in there eventually, anyway.

A 'wellness' system would be cool. You start out at 10 hearts, but as you die or starve, your maximum hearts slowly lower to 5. And the longer you survive in relatively good health, your hearts can raise up to a maximum of 15.
>>
>>126187825
I think there was something like that on 1.7
It was in MadPack and BnB(maybe).
>>
>>126187997
I wonder if I could cobble this together. I have very little modding/programming experience, but I recall parts of similar features from other mods that are hopefully on github.
>>
>>126188412
The way I see it, whenever your health and hunger are both full, your 'wellness' should slowly increase. When it hits a certain threshold, you get an extra heart.
When you take damage due to starving, your wellness begins to decrease.
When you die, it takes a HUGE chunk out of your wellness- enough to lose a heart or two.

If you're below 'default' wellness, then it should increase faster. If you're above default, then it should decrease faster.

I'm kinda interested in what the mod has to offer. DSS doesn't work with TiCon swords, so I figured a bit more variety would be necessary.
>>
I'm modding again.

Trying to get a bunch of work done in the next week in time for Asie's Better-Than-Minecon thing. Unfortunately, it'll still be real unfinished.

What I have done:
* In-world finite gas blocks which are not tile-entities
* A dirt-fueled engine with the downside of producing a bunch of poisonous smog.
* A heat system and some basic blocks to test it (the system works - I just don't have any content that uses it yet).
* Acid blocks that will fucking kill you (with a terrible horribad texture)
* A fuckjillion lines of library code that allow me to more easily write new stuff, especially for GUIs, config options, and initializing blocks / items.

Now, the reason I'm posting here is, I have no idea what to prioritize for my next task. Here are the few things I want to get done:

* Burner blocks which heat blocks above them, and the ability for those burner blocks to turn water blocks to in-world steam (Since I have gas code and a bunch of GUI code the hardest part of this would actually be rendering and fueling logic for the burners)
* Better textures for acid + a chemical thrower item which can spit acid to rapidly mine away dirt, sand, gravel, and stone but not ores
* Sticky wall-climbing gloves, like those ones mDiyo briefly added to TCon and then removed
* An early-game alternative to the Reliquary Void Tear that I can't be bothered writing about right now.
* Atypical tree-harvesting system, which consists of railguns (or pressure guns) and buzzsaw blades - the guns can be set up (like dispensers) to fire the buzzsaw blades at trees. The sawblades would treecapitate whatever they hit.

What should I focus on so I can have the feature done by BTM16, hm? And what should I avoid working on for that reason?

Here's the next task you should work on.

Smog biome. Slowly blackens the sky around where your engines run too much. Rain becomes acid rain. The biome grows the more smog you pump into the sky, and eventually condenses into a thicker, even worse biome, that constantly rains ash and that no light enters.

Soft Hardcore, mentioned earlier in the thread. It sounds absolutely perfect for the pack I'm working on, but I'll never use it.

>>
>>126205808
Look up the Sync mod.

It's based off of Corridor Digital's Sync video.

IIRC, it's compatable with HC mode.

Basically, what it does, is it allows you to make clones of yourself. You can use them sort of like waypoints (In that you can switch bodies at will, even between dimensions) and on death, you will be placed into the clone that's nearest you. It doesn't transfer your inventory, though.
>>
>>126206434

Yes.

The way sync bodies work is this:

You have a Constructor (powered by either pigs on treadmills, or other power mods)
and a Container.

You create a clone in the constructor, and then anytime you enter a Container, you can possess any clone of you that's inside a constructor or container. So yeah, you could make bank after bank of clones. You only really need power for the cosntructor, while the containers just need a redstone pulse (DO NOT DESTROY THE REDSTONE PULSE WHILE THERE'S A CLONE IN THERE)

Guy who switched SD cards the other day here. Apparently FAT32 partitions just fuck their shit when being resized. So it was actually everything but the emunand getting fucked up, and the error was probably menuhax failing.

What I ended up doing after using dd to copy the 16GB SD to the 64GB SD was then to copy the actual files off of it (so everything but the emunand), expand the partition again, reformat it after that (all the while leaving the 1024MB of preceding space alone since it's emunand) and then copying the files back on to the NEW larger fat32 partition. Worked like a charm and now I've got room to install games again.

What would you say is a fair EMC for various blood magic slates? I was thinking 256 for the basic slate, and then double it for the next tier, and then double it again, etc, because it doesn't take any blood that way.
>>
>>126221595
>fair
>EMC
pick one
>>
>>126222236
Right, sorry, I'll reword my question.

What would you say is an EMC for the Blood Magic slates that's relatively equal with the effort required to make the slates normally?

Take Iron as an example. 256 EMC for one ingot.

... Or maybe I could just balance blood cost directly with EMC cost. Blank slate costs a thousand, Reinforced slate costs 3000 (2000 for the upgrade, 1000 for the base), while the imbued takes 8000.
>>
>>126222693
Well I don't use EE myself (was mostly just memeing in my previous post), but if you ask me given what I know of the mod the more expensive they are the better. So if I had to choose, I'd go with your second suggestion there. One slate is definitely a lot more effort than one iron ingot, so 256 even as a baseline in a multiplicative series seems really low.
>>

Here's an idea-

Cut out the flowers.

Instead of generating mana via flowers, make a botania addon that's all about ley lines, sapping power from either the lines themselves or a nexus. Instead of working like nodes, where it's a block you tap for vis or whatever, ley lines are kind of like a chunk-wide modifier. You find a ley line with some kind of locator compass, and it'll glow when you're in a ley line chunk. From there, you can plonk down a crystal (made with a diamond and a few petals or something) that taps the ley line for mana.

Each ley line has a different Y-coordinate that acts as a 'sweet spot' where you gain more mana.

Or, alternatively, you can make a higher tier detector- this one made with runes. The higher tier detector doesn't point you toward the ley lines- instead it points you toward a Nexus. Nexuses are extremely rare, places where two or more ley lines all point the same way, and they give a much larger amount of mana- possibly enough to power an elven portal.

Hell, you could also throw in Standing Stones, which are obelisks that, when hit by mana, gives some kind of global effect. Like a supercharged beacon, when active. So if you're lucky, you find a Standing Stone and a Ley Line in the same location, so you can just use the Line to power the stone immediately. You can't move the Stone, at least not without end-tier gear, and you can't choose what bonus it gives you, but it might be pretty useful if you end up with a stone that, say, gives you constant Saturation. Or gives you constant Flight. Or opens a True portal from the elven world, causing enemy pixies, monsters, and random elven items to spontaniously spawn all throughout the area in an uncontrolled fashion whilst open.
Then again, I'm one of those useless 'idea guys' whose never made a minecraft mod, so I have no clue how feasible any of this is. Probably not very.
>>
>>126251504
The fact of the matter is that ftb has huge sway over the community. If you mod is in an ftb pack and for some reason comes off as a piece of shit, good fucking luck.

>>
>>126209528
>>126250497
If there's one thing I'd want from a Botania addon it's a proper Alfheim dimension. No more tossing shit through a portal, get your ass into elfland with its magic blue/cyan grass and trees, a whole new set of mobs to discover, and elven villagers who replace the current input/output system. I don't care how much handwavy backstory you put into it, building a huge portal like that just to toss items into is fucking stupid and it's easily my least favorite feature of Botania. Even worse than the memes.

Vampiric poppet so that any damage you take goes to him, teleporting him away whenever he's trying to do something.

Become a vampire. Hunt them! (And make sure you have a huge store of ritual supplies to make it nighttime. Set it to become night via daylight sensor so it's constantly night)

I'd say that's the best idea. Make up an EMC value for life essence and use that to calculate things you craft with it in the altar - something like that is what Thaumic Equivalence does, obviously using vis and essentia instead.

14hr reply, but I figured out how you'd do it while in the showers.
Basically take the warp system from thaumcraft (as in literally just copy/paste), how you get whispers/etc every so often.
The more jew steel you craft, the more warp/holocaust points you accumulate, the more frequent/intense the messages become.

Because its one of the only mods that adds machines that aren't magic blocks. It's the most believable machine mod I think there is so far.A few gears, some redstone, and glass dont make a quarry, and likewise putting a 64 square meters or ore into a 1 square meter area is just magical, which kills a lot of the fun. IE goes about Microcrafting in a way thats good, because the machine parts all have multiple uses other than chest clutter.

>>126308408
TE is magic blocks, and thats great if you want everything compact in your little dirt hut with your quantum suit and laser miner, but minecraft's main focus is building, building large factories isn't as satisfying with magic blocks as it is with huge machinery.

The best things are the power lines not taking up blocks, and the power generation requiring world interaction (water wheels, height based windmills). This encourages expansion rather than compaction which I believe modded minecraft needs to. Other than that though, everything else is visual.

A Minecraft mod thats based off of Little Maids, but has Morph-like capabilities that let you turn your maid into any mob they kill, and also compatible by default with any texturepack from previous verison of Little Maids,
It would have several extras jam packed into it with several gun types that are fully compatible with them, as well as various armors that could not be enchanted but were instead pre-enchanted upon crafting.
The maids would have much better AI, and would stop shooting or firing arrows at their target as soon as their owner got in the crossfire.
They would also have a better trigger interface so that they could go through your chests and pick up smeltable items that theyre toggled for and smelt them then put them back into a designated chest.
The mod would lastly have 9 different voice types for you to pick and choose from in-game.

> machines that aren't magic blocks
They're... big furnaces. Power/items/liquid in one side and out the other. If you can attach it to AE/Logistics Pipes and instantly have it running forever, it's a magic block.

I want something where you get to put together pistons/mechanical contraptions to have something visible happen, not watch meters filling up. When you make a mob trap or frame tunnel bore, it's yours to tweak and improve... Redesigning spawn pads and killing mechanisms, lighting up caves for spawn rates, designing for water/lava/gravel. But 'infinite' frame motors are a bit out of place, and processing the output tends to be AE again, which is a bit boring.
>>

It's kind of ironic that "magic block" is a tech mod term, yet magic mods are the ones that tend to have animated and visual stuff happen like you said.

Except they're not, functionally they're the same as magic blocks from TE, but in IE's case you see them working, it takes effort and time to build them, and once you get a stable supply line up your factory becomes that much better.

>2nd part
This is basic vanilla redstone. AT leats most of it is. A vanilla way to do interesting ore processing would be neat though. get sticky pistons, put obsidian on them, have them crush things. Would be nice.

Last I checked, no magic block mod does this. IC2 might have way back in the day, but I have no idea if it does or not anymore, but I assume it doesnt because no one brought it up Aside from that, you dont see magic blocks doing anything that lets you know theyre working other than spitting out items.

>So that's just a texture and a sound, dumbass.
It's the modder caring about how his mod looks and functions so that its not another magic block mod.

I've always thought they're a fungus. They feast on giblets of living animals, so they get up, move around, and then blow sheep or cows or people up. This also doubles as a method to spread their spores. Then the spores grow, eating up whatever blood or gibs end up around, and then consume eachother, until a fully grown creeper is there.

Don't you see the problem here then?

You like IE because it's flashy and space consumptive, which is fine, but it's not making you be more creative. If you want this set machine, you HAVE to build it this certain way. You aren't doing anything more creative than someone plonking down a block. You are just using more space to do it.

There was an anon here posting his aesthetic pseudo-multiblock machines here (a magic block encased in shit like chisel and carpenter blocks to make it look machiny). That's something you might like, that's some actual creativity and effort. IE multiblocks are just big in-world crafts that give you LESS options as far as dolling them up. You like it because it's an aesthetic hand-hold.

Why isn't there some sort of multiblock Engineer's Toolbox yet anyway? By that you mean you'd place things like the pulverizer block, the item input block and so on in some shape, place upgrades and whatnot as blocks and well and then when you've made something in nearly any shape you'd hit it with a magical wrench and bam there's your multiblock machine.

The tools module adds a lot of bloat in the form of armored mobs and gear made of ridiculous materials like glowstone. Also stuff like the Paxel are annoyingly overpowered.

Besides the tools, stuff like the Digiminer is ridiculous. Many defend it saying it's hard to make or that it's endgame, but certain things just shouldn't exist regardless of how hard they are to make. Another example of this issue is any item that gives infinite creative flight.

The power system is pretty messed up as well. On several /mcg/ servers I remember people just setting up dozens of windmills at the height limit and then wiring them all to a tesseract to get lots of free infinite power.

Now my last major complaint is pretty superficial (and may not even be true anymore), but last I played Mekanism, the textures were some of the ugliest I've seen in any mod ever. Uglier than Dartcraft. There was also no support from any resource packs, so if you used something like F32 it just made the textures look that much worse.

Since Mek runs on its own power system that is balanced with itself, assuming it would be run alone, it is balanced. But once you throw in even something as small as Growthcraft its suddenly thrown out of whack. Apple trees produce a ton of apples, and apples are worth 4 biomass to burn in a bio-generator which is something you can get in the first hour of a fresh world.

But, that can all be tweaked in the config. Complaints about Mekanism's balance only last to how the configs are set up. Vanilla, its overpowered. Otherwise, its all in how you decide to tweak it. And most things can just be turned off anyways, like the Baby Skeletons. That shit goes off immediately.

anon from wizards vs industrial fags war
we successfully manged the curse one of them but unfortunately before we could steal more blood samples or perform new rituals they found uranium veins with excavators and nuked our base to a pile of rubblerip all the resources we gathered
they gathered all their irons and made a modular power suit designed to hunt and bombard any camp we make with nukes
we are currently on a bedrock level mini camp that we made to store our voodoo protection dolls with meager resources trying to find a way to get back to surface to get the stuff we need for rituals without getting shot/bombed to death
on the other hand thanks to the anon who told me to use the curse if misfortune one of them joined our cause because he couldn't handle the curse anymore but we are still outnumbered

anyway to take down flying giants that doesn't need a lot of resources?
also is there an equivalent of nuke in magic mods?

Blood magic has some interesting options. The 3 most useful would be a ritual that teleports players away from your base if not whitelisted, one that summons a demon portal, and one that makes mobs spawn regardless of light level. But those are mostly annoyances, you need witchery to fuck em up

>>
>>126345670
Bottled taint will fuck things up at a biome level, but may take a while to spread.
Use blood magic to telepose a hungry node into their base
Or as >>126346432 mentioned, a BM bound pick will remove a 13^3 area around right click. Failing that, BM spells - especially a mining spell (particle generator>earth former?>shitloads of augment upgrades) will totally ruin anything you point it at.
>>
>>126345670
You also want VAMPIRE dolls. Stick their blood in it, and then your own- then they take any damage you take, until they die. Then the doll needs to be reset.

Finally, something you need to do is attack them from the spirit world. First step- Go to the spirit world on your side. You'll need to mine and progress through witchery all over again, but once you can do it, make as many spirit brews as possible. From there, make two portals out of snow- one at your base, the other at the enemy's.

Step two- make fetishes/effigies. You want sentinel, ideally, but disorientation or shrieking works too. Once these are made, slap them down, and go back to the spirit world. From there, you can manifest in the real world as an astral ghost. Astrally loot the effigies, take them to the enemy's base (In the spirit realm, not actually their base. Just the same coords equivalent there), and slap the effigies down. Customize them so they'll attack anyone who they don't have the taglocks of.

Then these effigies will manifest and attack/disorient/screech at the techfags whenever they get too close to these invisible, astral effigies.

More than that, you can keep manifesting in their base to break stuff. Then leave. Then come back and break stuff. Then leave.

They won't actually be able to keep you out because you can make as many portals as you want. You can overload their reactors. Take their uranium and make it into nukes, which you set off in their base.

The possibilities are endless!

Blood magic is probably better for outright destruction, honestly.

Also, the absolutely best ritual would be to make a circle above a platform in the nether, and summon all your foes.

Or teach your owl to attack someone by mixing a taglock and waystone, and give it to the owl.

Then give him splash potions. The owl will become your bomber.
>>
Don't forget about warded blocks and the portable hole, they could be useful
>>
>>126347582
I figure I should also mention how the spirit world works, if you're unclear.

Sleeping potion makes you keel over, and your body will lie down and do nothing. For this reason, you should prooobably make an extra-secure shelter somewhere weird where they won't find you, like under an ocean.

When you sleep, you'll wake up in the spirit realm with no items. The spirit realm itself is an exact copy of the overworld at spawn- it's either a nightmare, meaning it's dark and spawns a bunch of nightmare mobs, or it's a happy dream, meaning that it's constantly daylight. If you die in the spirit world, you 'wake up'. Your dreamself doesn't even lose its items.

However, there's a particular potion you can make called Flowing Spirit. This Flowing Spirit means that by making a portal with eight blocks- like a nether portal, except 1 block shorter- out of snow, and pour spirit on it, it becomes a portal to the real world.

The astral portal means that you lose everything again, but you can still fuck around with anything as a ghost. It's usually time-based... unless you slap down an effigy that lets you manifest forever near it.

Effigies are funny. They have area-based effects, but here's the rub- they work both in the normal world and the spirit world. And if they're in the spirit world, then they still effect the normal world.

---

Now that I've ranted a bit, I need to add another idea to the pile.

Magic mirror. Use an enemy's taglock on it when that enemy isn't online. Or when you have that specific enemy trapped in a warded glass cube, where he can see you.

Then you get his FACE. And his text. And his nameplate.
Then you can just STROLL the fuck in. Say 'hey bro' to your other enemies. Say 'I died and lost all my shit, it's terrible, please deck me out in all of the valuables you have'.

And then smile, and blast the fucker down.
>>
>>126345670
It's time to use that elemental fire, anon.
First though, you need to slip into a pocket dimension to build up your power, but you'll need a very learned mage to do something like that.

Use bottled taint and gaseous tenebrae to darken their base and fill it with magical blight that just keeps growing back, they'll be fucking furious.

Place hungry nodes (if you can find any) in their base, they won't know what the fuck it is

seriously just taint the shit out of them and the surrounding area
>>
>>126347582
>>126348214
this is our next move al though we have to do all the witchery shit again and surface is the red line for us
>>126348443
we cant get near their base because of the turrets and ALWAYS one man stays behimnd and defends the base and as i mentioned before the flying iron giant wont help us either but its not impossible to break in its just takes alot of effort and man power
also thaumcraft is at halt since they bombed every node they found our only hope is the underground nodes
>>
>>126348608
Be warned, though, the spirit world wipes your items out whenever you change from one world to another. You get it back, though, when you go back to that realm.
Really, though, anon's 'spirit world' idea isn't bad. Just use it with a twist.

Make a player inventory machine. Not sure which mods you guys have, so I don't know. An inventory interface or whatever.

But the important thing: you could just use it to transfer items between the spirit world and the real world. You could mine and do all that kind of stuff in the spirit realm, make shit in the spirit realm, and then hit the switch and dump your inventories into the real world.
>>
>>126348608
There are nodes in the nether as well.
Honestly it's probably a better idea to set up in the nether, they probably won't even look there, plus it's almost impossible to find anything buried in the nether unless you have the coords

If you manage to find a hungry node you'll want to use it yourselves instead then.
One man staying behind isn't very useful, they'll just shit on everything if they ever find it - stealth is key here.

Use portable holes to pop right into their base from underground, set down a crucible and just start shitting cobble into it to generate flux, do that over and over and you'll taint everything.
You can do that from underground as well, you don't actually have to enter their base for it.

I've never used witchery but it sounds pretty good, i think i might be able to find something in it that'll fuck them up if i can get some experience in it someday.
>>
>>126348772
Having a backpack from the backpacks mod allows you to transfer stuff over, too. Just get an ender chest or something to send it into the spirit world.

You should be thankful. What you think is a lighting bug is really a feature. Similar to trees not being able to fall the lighting is unique and unlike the real world.

1.8.8 is not 1.8. Notice the only mod which moved explicitly to 1.8 is ComputerCraft, everyone else is going to 1.8.8 while FTB is staying on 1.8 for the time being and so is Thaumcraft - until 1.8.8 Forge gets more stable. Here's the crack in your little conspiracy theory.

The stability argument only really makes sense for avoiding stuff like 1.7.2 or 1.8. Waiting this long to get on 1.7.10 is odd and not just going on to 1.8.8 at this point is also odd. Both versions have had their shit together for a while now.

dartcraft was huge during 1.5.2 and 1.6.4 days

very fun mod that didn't give a fuck about muh balance for the most part

it wasn't completely unbalanced, but time torches fucked up the balance of other mods, and the force wrench was a tad unbalanced until they made it cost fuel
>>
>>126433073
Dartcraft is a mod from 1.6.4. In a way, it could be seen as the botania of it's time? Loose core set of items/abilities, a bunch of useful side items, a lot of references (mostly to zelda. the armor, tools, fairy fountains, bombs, very few items weren't zelda references, even though the mod isn't explicitly a zelda mod).

A lot of people disliked it because it was "OP". You could make pretty good (but definitely not the best) armor cheaply and control it's enchants. You could make powerful tools that could, for instance, get fortune 4 I think? It tied into ic2, by having drills and upgraded versions of basic ic2 machines. It could generate BC power too, using it's force fluid generators, which was easy to make since you could grow it from trees.

It's fun, but it's not something you'd want if you are a gregtech fan, for instance.
>>
>>126433073
Dartcraft is fun for the sake of fun. There is no such thing as "balance" in dartcraft, because the whole mod is about having fun, making life easier, and giving no fucks about anything else.
>>
>>126433201
>le op is bad meme
well it's more like OP things suck the fun out of the game really quickly for some people

and in the case of modpacks I guess you could say OP things are bad, considering they may negatively affect how other mods were intended to be played
>>
>>126433565
>It's fun, but it's not something you'd want if you are a gregtech fan, for instance.
when ftb made separate packs on 1.5.2 for gregtech and non-gregtech I actually played the gregtech pack and manually added dartcraft, which was normally only in the non-gregtech one

you can like both greg and fun stuff!
>>
>>126433852
dartcraft dosn't really add anything out of ordinary other than tick speedup torches and tps killing fairies so it's just invalid to claim it as op off the bat
>>
While we're talking about Dartcraft, I just wanna say the clipboard was the best thing that it added and it changed Minecraft for me.

Back in beta 1.7.3 I think I had a portable crafting table addon for bukkit or spigot or whatever that let me hit c to open a crafting table. This was the start of me getting hooked on portable crafting, but it was just giving you this ability at no cost so it felt a bit cheaty.

Later when I got into real mods in Tekkit and such, I used the philosopher's stone or whatever from EE2 as a portable crafting table a lot. Dartcraft kind of perfected this concept by making it its own item, allowing it to be opened without having it selected (just keeping it in the hotbar), and also adding neat features like persistent inventory, shift-clicking into the crafting grid, auto-balance, auto-distribute of items in a ring, etc.

I do think that iBench has also further improved on the clipboard, but at the cost of a shitty name.
>>
>>126433852
And yet Dartcraft was extensively configurable. I don't think that people bothered much with configs back then, at least not to the extent of things like expert mode Infinity.
>>126434076
The one thing that makes iBench worse than the clipboard is how it can't place incomplete recipes with shift+? click on NEI, or place unstackable items that way either. I have no idea how Bluedart managed to circumvent this problem with NEI but the madman did it and it was amazing.

portable crafting is a basically vital in modded mc these days.

My favorite is from evilcraft, the exalted crafter. There's 2 kinds, the wooden one (has it's one 1-chest sized inventory) and one that's inventory is tied to your enderchest.

It has balancing and hot-key clearing, and you can control if the items automaticall go into either the things inventory, or yours. the only thing it's missing is the rotate. The storage button, and the fact that nei's come a long way and has shiftclick crafting makes up for it by far though.

>>126434256
I think the incomplete shiftclick thing is a longstanding NEI quirk, but I might be wrong. I never would have figured it was dartcraf fixing it, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I really miss shiftclicking incomplete shit.

Factorization's? It has been cloned as a separate mod by BlayTheNinth, I believe.

If anyone doesn't know, you can have different cast types with them

like in 1 spell, you can make it switch between "heal myself" or "heal on touch"

No. Vanilla cake's recipe calls for the specific vanilla items, not oredict items.

You can make Pam's Harvestcraft cakes with tofu, however.
>>
>>126417330
This.

Hunger Overhaul is actually better/easier than default hunger mechanics depending on how you configure it. Like you don't actually *have* to stay at 9+ shanks constantly, you get regen as long as you're over I think 3 shanks.

I also like the debuffs you get when starving or near death, but those can also be turned off in the config. You definitely do NEED to configure it though as it's complete masochism-mode otherwise. It also breaks Pam's water crops by default if you don't turn off the option for needing an actual seed to plant something.

I've got a config that's mostly based on the Blightfall one which I can put on pastebin if anyone wants.

You would only take damage from one of them then. There's a grace period after taking damage where arrows just bounce off harmlessly.

Vanilla 1.9 does this.

Just as long as you remember to remove the annoying as shit passive Slow, Weakness and Nausea effects that happen once you're below a certain number of shanks or hearts.

List of mods i've never used;
>industrialcraft
>gregtech
>reika's mods
>apple milk tea
>ars magica
>witchery
>railcraft
>dartcraft
>blood magic
>botania
>terrafirmacraft
>immersive engineering
>metallurgy

>pneumaticcraft
>RFtools
>agricraft
>forestry
>computercraft
>opencomputers
>steve's factory manager
>draconic evolution
>engineer's toolbox
>factorization
>matter overdrive

I haven't tried these because i don't have much time to scout out mods. Hell, i don't even have much to time to play. Can you tell me if your favorite mod is in the list and why i should use it? Help a bro out.
>>
>>126442187
>>reika's mods
Never used, Reika's a cunt but I've heard his mods are okay
>>witchery
I really like it. I feel it does the best job at blending in with vanilla Minecraft.
>>railcraft
I like the quarried/abyssal stones, coke ovens, blast furnaces, and other misc. additions, but I still feel like it leaves Minecarts as a lackluster feature.
>>dartcraft
Used it once a long time ago, seemed a bit mawpc.
>>botania
It's shit, if you've played any decent number of mods it just feels like this guy just haphazardly stitched popular features together into a single mod. Dev is an insufferable shit.
>>terrafirmacraft
Early game is fun, but the fun quickly fades away as you start progressing through the "just like last ore, but +1 betterness!" metals.
>>immersive engineering
Never used, but I'm thinking about giving it a shot soon.
>>metallurgy
Bloat. TiCon is already too powerful by itself, the last thing you need are two dozen more ores cluttering ore generation and upping the power creep even further, especially when those ores can't even be used for anything else.
>>galacticraft
Never used, from the little I've seen of it it just seems like just another dimensions mod
>>pneumaticcraft
Used once, it really felt like a half-assed mod, had to uninstall it because it kept crashing my server when it wasn't too busy slowing it to a crawl and filling the landscape with shitty textures.
>>forestry
It's okay, although advancing through the tree/bee progression should be done as a side project since the RNG and waiting can get on your nerves pretty quick.
>>computercraft
Used once (was included in the server's pack), but I can't program for shit and was using pastebins like a degenerate.
>>draconic evolution
Never used, heard its power creep is the worst of any mod.
>>factorization
Only used once for barrels before they became mainstream.

The rest I've never used.
>>
>>126442187
My favorite mod in the list is Witchery.

I love witchery because it's a 'magic' magic mod. It's not just fucking around with relabeled pipes and relabeled 'power generators' like thaumcraft. It's expansive, and has a few different 'wings' of the entire mod to deal with.

You got your alchemy. You can customize potions to a ridiculous level. I once made a potion that would not only give me the ability to fly, but also to shrink me down to 1x1 size so I could fit through small spaces. And a different time, I made a gas that would linger and grow plants near it... And would also harvest them.

You got your ritual circles. These circles can do basically anything, with the right setup. You could make a contract with an imp for arcane powers. You could mark a location with a Waystone, then teleport there later with the right circle. You could change the biome of the world. Or you could sacrifice a villager, summon a demon and trade with them.... Or carve the demon's heart out with your athame.

Then you got taglocks and voodoo. Steal someone's hair, and then you can use all sorts of rituals on them. Or you could stick your own hair into a protection doll, which will literally save your life.

You got familiars- a pet that you can revive whenever you want, and can do a few cool tricks with. The owl is my favorite, since you can ask him to deliver items to people.

Make a sleeping potion, and you can go to the astral realm and fuck around. From there, you can astrally project into reality- while your body is safe and happy sleeping in your bed.

Finally, and this isn't even things you need to delve into witchery to do- Werewolves are added, complete with lycanthropy, and you can become one. Same with vampirism. Not to mention that villages get an upgrade, with walls and proper guards.

There's a lot more to it, but with the circles and alchemy, it feels like real magic. Not just making a machine that has the word 'magic' written on it in black marker.

>>126442187
The only mod in that list that stands out as a "Must Try" for me is Immersive Engineering. You hear it take a lot of flak because of how expensive everything is, but it is unique for being the only flavor-oriented tech mod. Every single block and machine has its own look that fits the copper-and-steel theme of the mod. (well, aluminum scaffolds look like crap but they are a very recent addition...)

Instead of the same boxy item/energy/fluid pipes you see in every other tech mod, IE uses detailed conveyors to move items (they don't have a "pull" function, so you are forced to use hoppers or other mod blocks that push items out). The fluid pipes look like big fat iron pipes joined together from various segment types. And the energy "pipes" are cables that hardly take up any space at all compared to common energy pipes, and you can move RF over longer distances with a minimal material cost.

The big downside is that pretty much everything is a multiblock structure that costs at least a stack of iron or steel plus other materials. The ore doubler costs about two stacks of iron and doesn't have any speed upgrades. The advanced smelter costs 5 stacks of steel, requires villager trading to unlock, and uses more RF than any other smelter in history. Even the entry-level powered furnace is technically a multiblock, since you need to place it next to a vanilla furnace to use it.

What's wrong with Factorization? Everyone and their mother used it (at least for the barrels) a long time ago before it changed its license to "post something neat!" and the FTB guys couldn't be bothered to do that, hilariously. It also fits well enough with vanilla.
