a run would end after monoblos in the permanent urgent list, but there are some interesting things about the game, like it being possible to contribute to the next stagger during a current stagger, making stagger locking mad easy, also the fact that rust stone weapons are right in the toppest tier of weapons, i think it'd be pretty sick to see a TAS (or god forbid someone has the autism, a segmented run) that gets a rust stone weapon from the basarios quest (obviously it would be mining earth crystals throughout the whole run) then uses it to sweep the few remaining quests like mad

in a lot of the games the go-to is HBG, but in MH1 you really don't have enough cash at the start to get good support

in freedom you at least have a few weapons to sell and a bit of starter cash to buy an arbalest and some ammo, then after velocidrome you generally have enough dosh to upgrade it. mh1 is a much slower, more money-starved start, hammer and lance could both be completely viable, i'd lean more towards lance for first gen it has the kind of speed and control you need to shit out stagger locks
