If I upgrade my computer to not toaster status, what Total War should I play?

I haven't played anything past Medieval 2 and I really love that and Rome. I feel like I would like the gunpowder ones because one of my favorite things to do is set up defensive positions. I love defending sieges and every single run of M2 I do now is planning on defending Antioch from the Mongols from turn 1. Rushing to get there early to build it up. Taking a huge army around Europe getting XP, and even setting up the provinces around it to provide defenses for it as well. You gotta get there early if you want citadels by the time they invade. And you want citadels because they have balista towers.

But then again the new ones might have great combat and neat troop variety. I bet they fixed that shit where your cavalry would split up and move slowly thinking it's chasing fleeing troops.

I think it is a case of both. What makes GW that worst company in the entire world, is that they are so out of touch with their consumer base.

In WHFB, a game which I loved, you might have needed like 60 + models to get a game going, which buying directly from GW, is a lot of money. So a lot of people, me included, starting buying their minis from ebay or based chinaman which lead to that only space marines from WH40K outsold the entire WHFB range of miniatures.

Which in turn lead to GW killing WHFB and its universe and replacing it with a dumbed down game that is AoS. When the solution might have simply been to add a smaller skirmished based game instead of replacing WHFB. Sorry for bringing this up in /twg/
