HMS, despite being described as an arcane weapon, doesn't actually get much benefit from ARC. It's a true quality weapon that benefits from a combination of high STR and SKL.

Triggering frenzy with the Bloodletter does significantly less damage than allowing it to proc normally. You can L2 when your head's about to pop to essentially reduce the damage frenzy deals by half.

By the way, ARC only really effects the attacks that shoot out those blasts of moonlight. They already do pretty decent damage-- even with base ARC --so I don't think there's any reason to go above the base requirements unless you wanted to use hunter tools as well.

So unless the 2h form gets really out of control arcane damage from scaling this bitch is a quality build weapon, its an exception to the split damage rule with gems ie blades of mercy with +arcane damage. They do continue scaling past 50. You can actually go to 99 and still get great bonuses, but 70 is also a good stopping point if you want more room for VIT or another stat.

Kos Parasite is a pure ARC weapon, so no other stats are necessary in order to use it. With base offenses, you have access to four weapons, three of which have passable ARC-scaling:

>Threaded Cane
>Saw Spear
>Hunter's Axe

Unless you want to use something like the Kirkhammer or the Beasthunter Saif, there's not much of a reason to raise any of your other stats aside from VIT/END. Personally, I'd put those points in END into VIT instead. You could always equip an Anti-Clockwise rune if you feel like you need more stamina.

Bait his lava vomit/wide swipes and get a few hits in, then back off. If you're on him when he starts crawling around, you'll get 100-0% stunlocked real quick. If he's crawling at you, dodge towards your left, away from the big arm, and get him to go in a circle around you. The rest is up to you.

fwiw i disagree with this advice. for pitiful state investment arcane builds can unlock a lot of weapons, e.g. 2 points in SKL on cruel fate gets you saif. that's a good deal. 1 point in STR gets you beastcutter and 2 points gets you tonitrus, 5 points in SKL gets you church pick, etc.

it depends a lot on what weapons you like, and if your weaponfu is saw spear then obviously you're gold. but IMO the only reason not to do it is if you're really scraping points to go over the arcane softcap at 50 (which is a pretty serious softcap, yes tools go up but your weapons won't meaningfully)

You're right. You should be able to.

In the case that one becomes of bored of the Kos Parasite or the starting weapons, then it's nice to have other weapons you can fall back on. I'm starting to get it now.

Bloodborne's pvp is actually kinf od mediocre, and the fact that the damage is so high means that a slight skill gap results in immediate 1-sided victories ~60% of the time, and drawn out, reactive waiting games the other 40% (often with healing spam). There's a good reason for that

Starting off a new character in this game takes too long.

In Dark Souls (even in 2 to some extent), you can choose where to go, do things out of order, go through a higher level zone at a low level with relative ease as long as you're not a scrub, grab whatever weapons and armours you want ASAP, and be well on your way to your new build.

With bloodborne I feel too pressured into playing in a certain order and feel that it takes too long to get to a more "open" point, such as after you've killed amelia.

Arcane is int/fth combined, it's the generic 'magic' stat.
Bloodtinge is primarily the firearm stat. It boosts the damage of guns and a couple unique weapons. The running theme of blood-based damage is coming expense of the user's HP. You have a very small number of bullets to use guns for damage, but can generate more at will by sacrificing your own HP. Weapons that rely on bloodtinge generally consume your own HP to do so.

Neither arcane or bloodtinge are ideal as a primary damage stat until about halfway through the game, when you finally start encountering viable damage sources that use them.

So I'm going for 50 BLT. Am I just using the bowblade for its shot attacks, and are they worth it over a gun? Also, what is the main purpose of bloodletter's L2? Just a useful AOE attack that helps reduce the damage caused by frenzy? It seemed to bring the hotdog down to his knees when I was in front of him and not close enough to seem like I should have hit him, so I assume it has some pretty decent range and some stagger potential.

On average as a summon it takes about 2 hits to break limbs of large bosses, compared to several R1 combos it's a big improvement, and keep in mind bosses have much higher poise and stagger resistance with summons
I've been meaning to see if I can bully the shit out of Loran Darkbeast or NG+ Paarl with it solo but I've just been too lazy

BB's camera is just a special kind of shitty. So between using this setup of nourishing gems and a simple +10 MLGS with 27.2% gems i barely see the difference of overall damage output in pvp even though it certainly feels that enemies with huge arc resistance are getting more damage from lost version.
I honestly don't know what damage formula this thing uses, probably gonna grind a few millions souls and level up to test different stat combinations later.

So far i think that a little more optimized nourishing setup with +15 phys secondary effects is going to beat physical MLGS even on my stats.
