Like many other weapons in the game, it's only balanced for near-endgame performance where ~50 bloodtinge, +10 and at least middling chalice gems make its damage output offset the numerous disadvantages.

You gotta admit one thing about this game. You won't do it though because you're a bunch of fanboys.

When you're fighting bosses, you're not so much fighting the bosses as you are fighting the shitty performance of the game. By this I'm referring to both the framerate and the duplicate frame (stutter) issue which results in variable input lag.

When you press circle in Bloodborne your character will register the dodge/roll movement at different timings depending on what's happening on the screen. This means that when you fight bosses that fuck with the framerate and/or cause lots of stutter you can't really rely on your character dodging as soon as you press the button. Due these technical issues, you end up using trial and error methods to find out when the appropriate timing is to press dodge at what point during a boss's attack animation in order to find when the character will actually dodge. If you had a true 60fps experience, or even a solid 30fps + no stutter/duplicate frames, that didn't result in variable input lag, you could reliably dodge so many more attacks the very first time you fought a boss; rather than the current form where you press the dodge move and even though you've clearly pressed it before being hit your character doesn't respond due to the input lag variability.

This is honestly why Bloodborne is a fundamentally flawed game in terms of its combat.

I didn't play at release, and I know the frame rate was improved between then and now, so maybe that's why I never noticed it. I do notice the framerate drop sometimes, but it's infrequent, like vs. specific bosses or in chalice dungeons sometimes. I also don't know how a lower frame rate would cause a variable input delay. My usual problem with dodging while the frame rate is dropping is that it changes the roll timings for attacks, since the attack will play out slower.

Well it depends on your definition of average. There is this one guy for example who is DSP levels of bad and it took him 11 hours, then there is this other guy who is pretty good at the game and on NG+ and ran it in 3 hours but he knew where some items were (although he did get 100% everything).

Are you shit or good at bloodborne? If the latter, it probably will take you 5-6 hours. Avoid the general for spoilers.

I only say 70-99 because the hunter tools continue scaling way past 50. It's the weapons themselves that start seeing diminishing returns once you hit 50. Again, if you're just gonna use the parasite you're probably going to be relying a lot on your tools, too, so you might as well get the most out of them. Plus, dealing over 1000 damage with two casts of Executioner's Gloves is definitely something I would not want to pass up.

Anyway, the Kos Parasite is really good and not just gimmicky. The weapon itself is a bit slow, but it has long reach and its untricked dash attacks hit twice. The damage it deals isn't too shabby, either. Plus, you have a trick-mode L2 that's basically a built-in Wrath of the Gods. It's pretty awesome.
