What are you strength players using to invade? I have Amy arm, beast cutter and the pizzaroni pepperoni at 9 or 10, but it feels like pizza cutter is the best. R1 hits multiple people rushing you and the big damage makes them back up immediately. Amy arm is alright, beast cutter is worse damage but better range, once used it to hold down Brador's bridge for 20 minutes against a host and cooperators. Will be very difficult to hit a good player with though.

My point is that the game frequently punishes the player for playing agressive in its monster design and controls, just like dark souls did. You don't get anything out of passive play anymore sure, but that doesn't mean offense is actively encouraged either, it's just a weird game where you kind of weave in and out and do one attack each time unless you have the sheer damage output to trump game balance

You get the key in the 2nd hamlet lanturn hut. Talk to the guy lying on the floor for it and the bowblade. Rakuyo is down the well in the hamlet, have fun with that. Loch shield is in the research ward, on a platform you can only access after you've moved the stairs the first time. Just go back through and explore and you're sure to find it.

Assuming you're on a physical damage build and have the DLC, you can farm 22% gems off of the brains before the OoK fight
Compared to the 27%'s in dungeons, you'd be missing out on about 15% damage total which isn't too huge

I'd say chalices are worth going through anyway because it can be fun and more content to play through, but if you just want gems and don't mind settling for 22%'s then it's not required whatsoever

Does anyone have some good examples of a BLT/Skill build? I can't figure out if going for the full 50BLT is worth cutting off access to some nifty skill weapons.

Is it normal that str is pretty underwhelming at the start? I ran skl and a blt build and never had much problems but right now it feels much slower. Kirkhammer while cool looking isn't that strong compared how it swings. Does it get better?

Basically, there's a chance your HDMI cable is all sorts of fucked so the Bloodborne you're playing is a dull piece of shit full of washed out colors and disgusting contrast.

To fix this, Just go into Settings > Sound and Screen > Video Output Settings and on RGB Range change it from automatic to full. Hell, keep the game on when you do this so you can see the difference immediately.

Colors are mode vibrant and pop out more, dark area's are now genuinely dark, lights like torches are now rich and actually useful, ext...

I don't understand one thing, guys. Why do people think that it was Oedon that impregnated the women during the red moon? Is there any real evidence to back this up?

Logically it makes more sense for Mergo to be active during the low moon. He is formless like Oedon, and possibly his very son (the Pthumerian Queen would be his mother in this scenario, to explain her presence near the boss room and the bloody abdomen). This would also explain the Tomb of Oedon: he's really dead just like Kos is (to bring its child to life, perhaps), or maybe he was just killed during the Pthumerian era. We kow some buildings in Yharnam date back to an ancient era because the very city is named like the ancient queen, suggesting a strong connection, so it's not impossible that the tomb and the church date back to Oedon's and the Phtumerian's time.

Mergo is present all over the city during the red moon, proven by his crying, so it makes more sense for him to actually try and give birth to another spawn. I don't think we should use the logic "it's a child so it can't have babies" since he may be centuries old, and besides he's a fucking cosmic entity. We know that Mergo's actions are not entirely connected to Mensis scholars, because their initual ritual seemly failed and their brain went into "stillbirth", trapping them into the nightmare while killing their physical bodies, even if they aren't aware of it (as it seems like when listening to Micolash' dying words, when he says he will forget everything, even if his real body is dead)

They're really fun. Bloodborne is like one playstyle of dark souls expanded on and taken to an extreme, you'll find souls games feel more multifacetted while having similar exploration and world design.

BB-onlyfags seem to get caught up on the fact that souls game weapons have smaller movesets, but you realize when you actually play them that it doesn't really make that much of a difference. The combat systems amount to being about the same depth despite their differences.

It's just a meme. DaS2 is arguably the worst entry in the souls series, mainly due to its weak world and level design compared to its predecessors and the strange decision to tie iframes to a stat at set breakpoints, but never clearly indicate that function of the stat to the player or where the arbitrary improvements points lie. Soul memory was also a really shitty multiplayer system and the lack of a full eye orb for unlimited invading is a kick in the nuts, though it's not like the rest of the souls games (or BB for that matter) don't have infuriating and stupid issues with their multiplayer system.

It's mentioned somewhere that the Mensis School and the Choir together form the leadership of the healing church. They're just 2 sides of the same coin, 2 divisions of the same organization that are in co-operation with one another. Their methods aren't really any different from Byrgenwerth's, they're more or less the successor to it.

Birthing Mergo, the "nightmare newborn" was their method of ascending to the higher plane. They were beckoning a Great One by helping to provide it with a surrogate child. It's like a contract. It's implied that Gehrman did the same to contact the moon presence and create the hunter's dream, hence why the leftover umbilical cord is on the table in the old workshop.

So I'm a level 50 blt build...struggling because I'm still weak. skl is at 25, and I'm using +6 BoM. Unfortunately they hit like garbage. I went to fight Simon to get the bladebow early and I was doing 20 damage per hit to him.

I went to try to kill Logarius to get Chikage, but no matter how hard I tried, I just do no damage, I actually got him to about 10% before getting my face smashed in last time.

So I figure, maybe I figure out how high I can go for SKL and dump that OR see if someone can help me kill Logarius so I can get a weapon that will do more than tickle.

Side note...did BoM always suck this hard for PvE (at least at lower levels)?

BoM suffers from BB's shitty damage calculation system that murders the damage of low AR weapons, or fast but low-modifier attacks. Part of using the BoM effectively is making good use of the R2s, which hit as hard as a strength weapon's R2. Dodge, go in for poke, R1 and while your R1 is going off, watch to see what the boss does; if he doesn't immediately go for his built-in "fuck off out of my blindspot" move, go for an R2; if he does the fuck off move, dodge and repeat. Your R1s are so fast and safe that you can basically use them as a hit test to get one or 2 of those ~30 damage hits while you wait to see if the boss will let you use an R2 this time. As long as you aren't mashing the button, R1s always recover fast enough to let you dodge.

The BoM isn't a good weapon, but it's not nearly as bad as people claim. You just have to get used to the playstyle being very different from something like a saw cleaver. Your crazy fast R1 combo doesn't become a real source of damage until you're all gemmed up

DeS being good is a meme. We all have fond memories, but it is far inferior to what we have now. DeS is the Vanilla WoW. Everyone talks about how good it is, but in reality it was kinda shitty and only fun because it was "new" and had ridiculously OP shit.

Bloodborne doesn't necessarily encourage offense,but it also doesn't encourage defense.

I think the best way to describe BB is that you always need to think on your toes and always be ready for anything

If you go in and try to whale on a boss they will attack back and they also have super armor so their is no hitting them before the release a big attack cause they can tank a few hits, but you can knock them out of it sometimes,but its a risk you have to be willing to take.
Not to mention going crazzy on them and using a ful stamina to attack them leaves you with none to dodge their attack once you finish

Its actually hard to learn how to play and counter bosses 100% effectivly due to the fact that everything can 1 shot you if you make a single mistake and their are no gaurented ways to prevent bosses from attacking you at any time.

With old school games like Meagman all you need was patience.reactions, and good memorization skill, but that doesnt apply to bloodborne.

Bloodborne prevents this by putting many obstacles in your way(having to go grind/restock for vials and bullets, having to star from last lamp which means going thru same enemies again and again).

Not to mention the enemy tracking and how their attacks follow you around with the exceptions of certain moves forcing you to dodge precisely at the right moment and even if you dodge if your attack doesn't stagger,prepare to eat another attack so you better hope you have enough stamina to do it or you are fucked.

Thats why some can lose interest in BB cause it can be a choir to play for those who arent used to challenging game play.

Making it all the way to a boss to die form his first attack numerous times kills the fun for some.

Rolls are also incredibly fast in DaS3. There's that crazy mini soul arrow spam spell that's super fast and you can just chain roll through all of it. Bows will probably be similar to that spell in that they won't stagger normally (probably unless you get a headshot). They probably still won't be fun or do decent damage because Miyazaki seems to love the idea of bows being pretty much exclusively a tool for cheesing of aggro pulling -they're the souls equivalent to pebbles or poison knives.

It's a shame but I seriously doubt they'll learn from Simon's bowblade and make melee+ranged bow skirmishing a viable playstyle or source of damage.

What're the possible negative effects of cursed tempering damps that drop from the winter lanterns in the dlc? I've gotten 5 and they're all either -hp gradually or -x weapon durability. Just want a negative stamina one..

So did a couple of ludwig co-ops to help the kiddies using my new Rakuyo and there's some kind of glitch going on.

After the 2nd phase cutscene, when skipped and it goes back to the fight, he dies immediately...This happened twice. Not sure if it occurred before but I co-op'd a fair share and this is the 1st time I've seen this.

It has shitty scaling in general, but good base damage and incredible dps. The saw cleaver is the anti-PvE weapon. You don't need anything but upgrades to make it shitstomp every enemy and boss through simple R1 spam and the occasional visceral.

The Whirligig Saw gets B-scaling in ARC and gets serrated bonus in its trick mode. Of course it's a great ARC weapon. Imbue that thing with fire and watch those beasts turn into fleshy, hairy ribbons right before your eyes.

I never had to grind/restock vials. There were always times when I got a little low, but if you were healing too much it meant you weren't strong enough for the area, or weren't fighting the enemy right.

Both plagued me on my first playthrough, but on successive ones, if I'm downing vials too much to clear an area on one go-through then I just go level up. I'd rather grind levels once than grind vials over and over and over.

That's effectively what's happening here.

I did a bow only run recently on DaS1 and it wasn't good, it was just the bosses and mobs didn't know how to react half the time. O&S were easy as fuck since I didn't need to get right into Pikachus stab range. Also after smough died, pikachu literally just stood in one spot hurling bolts of lightning at me so I just stood behind a pillar and killed him with a bow, he literally never even tried to come after me. Some other bosses were fucked too. Most the stuff in das1 is basically coded for melee only, if you use magic or arrows you will have an easy time. But bowing was still fucking shit, low damage, low range, almost impossible to aim headshots (especially on a controller with no precise movement), etc etc.

The only thing I liked about bows in DaS1 is being able to hit people behind their shields by shooting their legs.

If DaS1 is any indication, most throwing weapons will just be tools to help hold your hand through the first area of the game and become completely useless afterwards. They're like training wheels while you;'re still learning the game. Bows replace them, after the first few areas as the glorified aggro-pulling tool. The exception being poison knives, which are essentially just an alternative way of poison-cheesing something if you don't have arrows or the dex to use a bow.

I hope I'm wrong. One of the things I actually liked about the 2nd game was how it made all of the thrown items actually useful beyond the first area of the game. That doesn't seem to be the way miyazaki does things, though, so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

or you can just get 50 skl, consider the build complete and not waste levels in shit you don't even care about

I made a skl/blt and wanted to use rukayo, but it's not that great, it's better to just use simon's bowblade and chikage

rukayo isn't even that great in general, it's basically just another BoM
