Before that the server went un-updated for a month because the owner got butthurt and didn't update out of spite.

The server has gone down twice in its entire history, the first time was Kami-sama being unable to support the server, and in less then 12 hours someone else was hosting it.

You want my take on it? His dad moved the shit to a different box, with a different IP, so the port forwarding isn't set for the new IP, and Sentinel has no idea what port forwarding is. That's my best guess, because the server's online, and can be seen, but no one can actually get on it.

So to make everything clear as someone that only played Ark casually and started on this server, the server is down or was it moved to another IP?

My dad says this isnt the only server that had an issue like this, alot of servers got bum fucked in patch 225. He said either wait till the next patch or try changing your bandwidth

Also the server is still up so peoples dinos are slowly starving and crops withering so just saying you should switch it off until it is actually fixed in case it drags on.

So umm... every promo shot I've seen from this game feature lush green trees but mine are yellow. Sometimes even more so than pic related, often completely orange. Is this a bug or something? I'm okay with sentinel being the host. He always had the server updated and the lag wasn't that bad until the last two days of it being up.

But, this whole fiasco of the server being down three days is frustrating. They keep refreshing the ip thinking it will help when they need to do some port forwarding. If that doesn't work just google until you find a solution.

One of our guys has hosted an ark server before for a community he is involved with and regularly works with server hosting for said community.
He was building his own dedicated server for an Arma unit when I derailed him with this, I'm pretty confident in him.

Our other guy, panda, is a computer scientist (Ph.D.) from South Africa.
I'm just the PR guy, the servers are really up to them I'll try and run community aspects of it because servers are much more their forte than mine.

I was getting about 150 ping from sentinels server connecting from Ireland, Geography is a factor, some Americans are getting really good pings and some arent.
Its obviously a lot better for us because we're connecting from EU and South Africa so it cut a lot of distance off all 3 of us. Sorry for americans with bad ping but there havent been any reports of lag spikes yet so hopefully it stays nice and smooth for you guys.

We chose the location because it was well rated and cheap enough that we wont have to ask for donations or anything like that.

I'm pretty sure that levels gained while tamed have a higher impact on stats that one from when it was wild or bonus levels gained from the actual taming process.

So if you haven't actually level up the trike that much then that frog which at least had about 70ish levels it had gained after being tamed was probably much stronger. even if you had leveled it significantly then 100+ plus is a large enough gap especially with a torpor inducing animal

Avoid them. Take a risk and tame a high base level dinos then level it like crazy so you can 1v1 maybe.

I tamed a level 112 sarco on NFA PVP that ended up being around level 170. I fairly confident it could solo a lot people who are out with their mounts or run away if it can't.

I'm not sure if Sarcos have been reworked since a few months ago but they were always a bit of a bitch to use. They have a bad hit radius and turn radius which always made it hard to hit anything, even in water. However I always had trouble killing AI tamed Sarcos with a mega. You'd probably be fine with smaller mounts like a pachy or raptor but I wouldn't recommend going against a saber or something like that unless you're close to a river or ocean.

I love helping out new players after I get set up by filling an argentavis with a good amount of starter shit and flying it to fresh spawns.

They might die and lose it all right away, but it makes them happy and I don't mind doing it multiple times.

Last time I played I had allied with the guys near me, farmed him tons of stone iron and shit to get a big base, then started doing that.

Nobody minded me doing it either, because I had helped so much with the base.

I don't even think I've killed anyone on this game before, but the pvp does add to the thrill for me since I don't know if I'm flying to a fresh spawn or a guy about to fuck my shit up.

As much as I'd hate to lose my tribe's progress (and I'm sure most of you would too) we basically already have. Starting fresh on Valhalla seems like the best option, especially since I'm sure it will be a new experience for many of us. All in all I think it's a good opportunity for us to have a fresh experience which should really spice thing up a bit.

I object to MoreCrafting in the strongest possible terms; I probably wouldn't play on the server if it was added. I don't know about using third party maps either, I'm finally getting to know my way around the default one, I don't want to have to learn another map, though it wouldn't stop me from playing.

The grinder is a great idea, but I think we should just wait for the devs to add one, like they did with the forge and the oven. Spiral Staircases are fine, I suppose. Better Beacons is the most necessary change, and I doubt anyone would object to it. No more double compass/water bottle blueprint red drops.

I hear Advanced Architecture is cool, it adds drawbridges and castle stuff like ramparts, rugs, statues, and larger walls parts. But I dunno how that shit would be balanced for PVP.

The combustion engine makes a mockery of players who actually go to the hazardous snow biome or under the sea to get oil to run a generator. Just throw fucking anything in there and it makes electricity/charcoal? Fucking no. If you're really that lazy, trilobites exist for that purpose. Metal storage box? We have vaults in the game already for that purpose. Electric furnace is pointless when we have the Industrial Grill. Why do we need a freezer? We have fucking fridges that multiply the timer to retarded levels already. Glass walls/ceilings are fucking retarded (windows are fine). Industrial AC? I doubt we need this anymore now that wall torches exist, and can provide heat and light while looking awesome.

The tent looks really useful if you just want to set up a temporary base somewhere and quickly demolish it when you're done. Armor rack is nice cool too (does it actually display your armor on a dummy?). Honestly the cons outweigh the pros with this mod in a very large way.

It's a custom map some guy made for Ark. Played with it on another server and it's pretty cool, didn't run into any major issues with it. Great landscape, lots of great places to build and it's a lot bigger than the vanilla map. More smaller islands, more ocean, etc.

We'll add Better Beacons this weekend and we'll have a look at any other mods that are suggested but personally I dont want any mods that change the overall gameplay experience too much, just ones to fix the shit devs arent getting around to, like the broken beacons.

We currently have the same rates and I'll do some polls and some research on proper breeding buffs.
We'll also try and do some fun Admin events so anyone with any suggestions please post them in the thread, we've had a few suggestions so far including a shark pit for shark on shark deathmatches.

Might try and have tribes "host" the games too so they can build the arena themselves and decide the terrain/location, if nobody wants to do it though we'll just build it ourselves, Panda loves to build.
