So I'm still not high enough of a level to get through the DLC but I did run through and grab the two weapons I want and they're fun as hell (Pizza Cutter and Beast Cutter for STR build) and I was wondering how the Fist of Gratia is for PvE? I use the hunters pistol just for parrying and I'm considering either the cannon or the gatling gun as a second weapon, but the Fist has be interested. What exactly does it do? Can you counter with it? Does it damage decently?

Even when BB has the least players, in late summer before DLC announcement, i was able to invade virtually anywhere with great success just by knowing that i had to move around during invasion attempts.

How do you guys bring yourself to spend days farming Chalices for good gems?

The Chalice dungeons were so fucking boring to me that i didn't even make it through the main ones. I wish i could participate in the Bloodborne PvP but i think i'd rather kill myself then spend days playing those shitty chalice dungeons over and over again on every single new build that i make.

Well, aside from the transform attack the 1h moves is tonitrus tier. Can't blame people for sticking with the godly 2h moveset.

It's 3 bosses deep, halfway to the 4th boss. The 1-handed untricked mode has 0 blt scaling and is a shitty strength weapon, the tricked mode is 2handed (no firearms) and consumes a % of your max HP every time you enter it, so you can't freely swap between forms to use a gun without killing yourself. Transforming can actually kill you.

As someone mentioned, the untricked->tricked transform attack has extremely boosted rally potential and with guidance rune can instantly restore the transformation cost if you hit something with it. Also does a fuckload of damage.

In pvp, though, you basically never want to un-transform it or switch weapons once you've transformed it. Fortunately it has an AoE explosion attack that's nearly an instantkill and doesn't cost qsb

What's a good weapon to use in the mean time whilst I aim for chikage and then bloodletter?

You can run them in a few hours once you know your way around. Beat game and then use your 80-90 char to run the basic ptnumeru dungeons in like 1 hour, then do ailing loran, then defiled, then lower loran then isz and ihyll.
All in all, you should be ablt to do a full chalice run in about 3 hours, less if you plan ahead and ask for help ahead of time for the annoying bosses like Rom, Loran Darkbeast, Headless Bloodletting Beast and Defiled Amy & Watchdog.

Here's a picture guide on the bare essentials to pick up. Afterwards, FRC spelunking is lots of fun actually (unless your farming 27.2% arcane or bloodtinge radial. that shit is suffering).

It's like the highest difficulty in a dmc game. Everything practically 1-shots you so you have to dodge around and stunlock normal enemies wherever possible to play essentially without being hit, and work hard to wear down the hp of even regular enemies, who you can't just kill in a single stamina bar of stunlocks or a single visceral.

I like it. The enemies that don't go down easy and are legitimately threatening are the most fun ones and making every enemy like that makes everything much more enjoyable of a challenge.

When you are too powerful relative to your enemies (like the normal chalices and shitty watchers mooks) the game just feels like endgame darksouls where you approach everything by hitting R1 twice and moving on to the next target.

You can buy all of the materials in NG+ now. If you want to pvp, just blow through one of the short or easy chalices to grab the root chalice, and then buy the materials to create it in NG+ and you can start doing glyphs. Farming isn't so bad because you're not thoroughly clearing the whole damn thing, you're just going to kill a specific enemy or boss over and over. The runs are short and straightforward, no better or worse than any pother kind of farming in any souls game.

It's extremely, extremely good, probably the best dlc weapon for pvp. The problem is that it's boring as hell. In a dlc full of crazy, goofy weapons it's a super bland estoc/halberd hybrid. It'll become meta once things settle down and the tryhards lose interest in the fun weapons.

25/50 would probably be the absolute optimal, but it definitely does enough damage as a pure skill. I've been using it on a pure skill build, unfinished, with shitty 15% gems and ~40 skl and the damage is still exceptional. It's strong enough on its own that you have a fair bit of leeway build-wise while still doing excellent damage. I wouldn't bother making a new build for it, as your skl build will use it just fine, fine enough to still outclass most of the other weapons in the game quite decisively.

I don't buy that. Micolash is probably the most knowledgeable character in the entire game who's capable of speech, barring Gehrman who just wants to be a grim old man everytime you talk to him. Micolash specifically says "Grant us eyes, grant us eyes, as you once did the Vacuous Rom". I don't think that was metaphorical. Remember that Rom is considered "Willem's secret", and Willem was (assumingly) very ashamed over the events of the fishing hamlet. I'm sure that it might not have been as simple as Kos booping Rom to get Rom instantaneous ascension, but it had to have been more direct than "research developed from Kos".

I think I enjoy every fight save the Maria battle. The failures are not super exciting in themselves, but the arena is enchanting. Laurence's phase two gives me fits, but I appreciate how dramatic the transition between phases is. Ludwig and Orphan are just frenetic and suit the aggressive gameplay well. Maria is slow and has large, lingering hitboxes, especially in phase three (I've been blocked from ripostes several times by phantom flames). Just doesn't do it for me.
