Well, even in this version the only slot that changes anything whatsoever is the fourth. The other three slots don't actually change Shoggoth's stats.

If you put a level 1 card in slot four, the whole thing just gets the level 1 card's stats even if you had level 4 in the other three slots. If you put the level 1 in those slots and 4 in the fourth, it gets the level four's stats. It's a cool idea but as things are they could at least average out the slots for a stat difference

I've become really confused as to all the options for swordsmen. All of their skills are mostly physical attacks which is fine, but how can you tell which ones are worth it over others?

I'm looking a tthe skill builder and working with my c1 pelt, and I just am at a loss for what to put points into that will help whatever I end up choosing.

Dopel and Corsair don't really interest me.

Can Cleric 3's Guardian spirit castable on non party members? The skill kinda seems trolly.

It doubles the amount of bonfire regeneration, and adds 50 SP regeneration at just 1 point. It's a skill you put one point in and just use on cooldown. Paladin does suck ass, but it's not because of Regeneration. Smite and Regeneration are currently the only reasons to take the class.

Barrier straight up doesn't work most of the time, enemies walk right through it and they removed the attribute that gave +100% stabbing damage and +100% magic damage.

Conviction is bad, has a nice animation and very slightly increases magic damage enemies take. The cooldown is too long and the magic resistance debuff only lasts 5 seconds, but it's literally the only other attack paladins have.

Most of the time I'll lay a conversion down and it'll go the full duration without converting anything, even if it does convert something it'll just stand in one spot until I leave the area.

Resist Elements is great. If it had 100% uptime, it would be insane.

Turn Undead isn't even worth talking about, I've used it a massive amount of times and it has only worked a few times. The enemies I turned undead also never dropped anything, silver or loot, and I don't know if that's a bug or a feature.

All you really need for damage are multi hits so hoplite seems mandatory by default, then either a high leveled cata since their skills seems to gain a few more hits as you progress, a corsair for hexen dropper and autos or dopple for cyclone.

No idea about fencers but it seems they have some multi hit so they probably don't completely sucks.

Swordsman tree in general isn't that interesting. Just pick whatever fancies you. But Doppels and Corsair C2 are the usual late game. You could check Fencer, highlander could work and barb for crits and slash damage to compliment its boost on slash and pierce skills. Maybe hop too, but you'd be abandoning finestra for a rapier

If I start grinding now, do you think (with the current exp rates) I could reach Fencer? I'd probably make the character on Gabija this time around just to see the community over there, so I'd have those rates in my favour, too

You gotta read more of the descriptions. As for Peltasta, their big damage comes from attacking enemies that you just blocked (particularly with Umbo, which has "increased" damage on such enemies). I have a Pelta>Hoplite 3, my umbo crits still one-shot enemies that I block all the time.

It makes me realize that Peltastas that run around using Umbo blow raw on enemies are just wasting damage efficiency.

The other swordsman classes also have their own unique flavor to their attacks. Except for vanilla swordy, there's really no good reason to stay swordsman.

I was kind of confused with this, I thought Umbo Blows animation is enabling you to guard mode before spinning to hit. I guess I got it wrong, so I might as well just use the block attribute skill to enable guard and get higher block success then just use umbo after that.

I didn't get your question completely. Basically, as soon as you see the "BLOCKED" text over your heard, one of the enemies attacking how has been staggered. This is visually shown as them flashing green (this also happens to you when an enemy blocks your attack, try attacking a hogma as an archer). Your umbo blow will now deal additional damage. I don't know the duration of stagger, however. It doesn't seem to show as a debuff, but it does seem to last a second or two.

As long as the mobs you're gathering up don't use magic attacks (unblockable shits), you can block, mash umbo, and jump to cancel the recovery and block again. Once umbo is on C/D, I either use Rim Blow in the same manner, or just jump-attack in a circle.

Unless you can clear out the Harugal rooms quickly, you're going to get less than half the exp/hour in demon prison 1 compared to 2. Harugals give 3,084 base exp, and the trees in demon prison 2 give 4,734.

I would recommend only using High Guard when you're in a party for the sake of becoming the ultimate tank. You'll need Gung Ho for grinding and questing, and there will be plenty of enemies that you can't block easily, and you'll just have to take advantage of damage types (umbo/rim for strike-weak enemies, auto-attack for slash-weak enemies, lvl1 thrust for pierce) and auto-attacking, which Gung Ho will help with, particularly if you max the attribute. The defense-loss from Gung Ho is easily made up for with your defensive attributes, so just use it whenever you're soloing.
