Replayed a scene romancing Solas and tried breaking it off with him. It was so quick and subtle, but I could see the slight disappointment as he walked off with much less than he walked in with.

Well when I'm not going completionist mode, I am not making that much on average.
My first playthrough I had no money issues and didn't spend a dime. Second playthrough, I can't be assed to fill up my inventories and I raised the difficulty to the stupid tanky enemies suck up 5 times the damage.

Idea: what if Solas really is an "Agent" of Fen'Harel and not actually Fen'Harel, but following his will. Think of it like when yoo drink from the Well of Sorrows you pledge yourself to the service of Mythal. What if Solas pledged himself to the service of Fen'Harel and does not even know it (or forgot). What if in DA4 we end up seeing Fen'Harel is tormenting Solas, as the actual trickster and we need to stop him just to save Solas and the elvhen people. What if having to kill everyone removing the Veil is a part of Fen'Harel's tricks, he tricks Solas into thinking it'll work, Solas does not even try to rebel, then Solas does his bidding.

I disagree, I had the best playthrough as a rogue-archer-tempest. I'm playing as a mage right now (elf of course) and it feels so unsatisfying, plus the lack of mobility. I chose Necromancer over Knight Enchanter because I have Knight Enchanter planned for my Templar-punch Solas in the face - playthrough.

Knight Enchanter probably most fun with Riftmage at second because you don't get your best ability early on.
