Rifleman is one of the few must have perks for any gun build. It works on ALL ranged weapons that are not automatic, heavy, or pistols. Lasguns, shotguns, mostguns.

I just recently finished it after it being the only one I haven't played in the main series, just felt like there wasn't really much to do and what is there isn't the best.

The main quest and the couple of side quests are interesting enough to keep you hooked for a couple of hours

Fallout 2 is the better game. The mixture of a big world, plenty of unique NPCs, many side quests, complex dialogue trees, and a nice amount of adult-themed humor and social critique are still unsurpassed.

However, Fallout 1 just oozes that dark, gritty atmosphere. The future happens to be a grim place. The awesome atmospheric soundtrack, the memorable characters you meet, and the broken towns and nuclear wastelands you visit during your journey through southern California all contribute to that special post-apocalyptic "feel" in ways that Fallout 2 can't quite copy, and Fallout 3 is totally unable to achieve.

Is it possible to play a tank character in New Vegas? I've got the DLC and will have Project Nevada installed but no other mods other than unofficial patches.

Its probably the weakest build for the first 10 levels. You need to either have DR and HP out the ass (or power armor) or have enough burst damage to 1-2 shot raiders, otherwise you'll die in every fight on harder difficulties.

don't know about that specific atmosphere but DUST for NV was pretty dark. I couldn't play more than a few hours in a sitting because there wasn't even a light at the end of the tunnel, just a bunch of cannibals, psycopaths, and tunnelers. The precious few friendlies you run into you are almost forced to murder for ammo.

The railroad could have been really cool if it was made by robot/synths for robots/synths. Sort of like 01 from the matrix, where robots all congregate away from the enslavement and oppression of human society and try to live as their own with their own free will.

Sure, they could probably end up fucking over humanity if humanity tries to fuck over them, but that only happened because humanity rejected their peace and started a war they couldn't win. Power creep pretty much mandates that they gotta introduce new power armors eventually, T-60 really should be BoS version of APA i.e. post-war model though. This game has so much fucking potential, but it's replayability will be very limited, as well as it shitting on the "choices" you supposedly have.

Every single play through, woo you pick "no" or "sarcasm" and everyone just plays along as in your last play though where you just said "yes sure" The illusion of choice is bullshit and gets boring fast.

A lot of this is because (and this is just me speculating) that they make their art team make the world and then try to fit a story + lore in it

That sure makes for some interesting locations (like megaton or rivet city or the entirety of shivering isles) but it also creates inconsistencies and makes things make no sense sometimes (again megaton)
Bethesda focusses more on things being spectacular and fun to look at not at them making sense which is a shame because that takes you out of the game sometimes

Did you really not notice how many NPCs are immortal? In Fo3 there's a lot more immortal NPCs than in 4 but there's still a lot of immortal NPCs in that game, even in side quests!

Well I've hardly played FO2, but I just recently finished FO1 and you're only a messiah relative to Vault 13.
Everyone else just sees you as yet another wastelander. At least one major character laughs at you if you say you're from a vault.
Set in Necropolis will tell you to fuck off unless you agree to work for him.
Gizmo in Junktown just assumes you're going to work for him without asking, and will kill you if you say no (or if you call him a fatass twice).
Everyone has their own problems and they aren't really interested in yours, just what you can do for them.
