The whole chalice lore is about how Byrgenwerth found the old blood among the relics of a civilization of ancient superbeings inside the dungeons. The DLC is just an old story about hunters of the past, that's tangentially related to the game's lore.

it's a split damage weapon. the physical half scales with STR/SKL and the arcane half scales with ARC. the ARC scaling is better (25% better than STR), but the base damage is lower (62.5% of the physical damage), so the physical scaling is ultimately more important

i can break 800 AR on a 25/50 STR/ARC build with HMS. it's not the best build for it but it's clearly functional and the projectiles hit hard

I got the bloodletting beast, the headless bloodletting beast and a hot dog that is immensely harder than the defiled one(still haven't even killed it)

Since the vermin feed in blood, they compel their host to seek and consume more and more, and as they feed they become stronger, grow bigger and begin reshaping their host to better suit them. Some beasts get so large because the vermin never stops growing as it feeds, and it bends their physiology and mind to suit its needs. Ludwig's second 'head' is the vermin in his blood, grown so large it's actually emerged partially from his massive body.

I've found that 2 radial arcane percentage gems and 1 triangle arc% + flat arc gem is the best set up, so you'll probably want to get the uncanny version. Limited experience with it thus far, but it absolutely wrecks hunters with its flint'ed jumping R2's. And most bosses when staggered you can slam for 1k plus damage.

I haven't tested yet but I bet Oil would make this thing a monster if you charged up some R2's.

it matches up with my punch damage in human form. i think there's a huge multiplier in kin mode

assuming that's true, you shouldn't use +flat ARC gems. because they don't take attack multipliers, they always add the same amount. you will look like you have the highest AR with flat arcane gems, but your actual damage might go up with a triangular 27% arcane gem, even if your AR goes down
