Well, theres Dark which scales off both faith and int. Sometimes yoyu need a chime, sometimes a staff to cast a spell. But there are items that allow you to cast both

If you want pure sorcery, go magic and work your way up to Hexes. Pyromancy and Miracles are good as sub abilities later in the game, each have their strength and weaknesses. Dark scaling(Int+Faith) if you couldn't tell is only really useful when you have a decent amount of levels with you.

Pure? not really, from what I remember. I haven't gotten into SotFS that much, but I doubt they made them better. What you want to pick Miracle wise is the Lightning spears, maybe Heavenly Thunder if you like it, Sunlight blade, and Great Magic Barrier. To even use some of these you'll need a high faith level, so it's more a late/ng+ mechanic now

Dark Souls II vanilla owners on Steam: you can currently upgrade to Scholar of the First Sin for just £1.99 (about $3 USD).

Probably worth it, even though the business model behind it was pretty scummy. The game is no where near the quality of DeS, DaS and BB, but it's still a fun game in its own right and has some real good PvP. SotFS allows for 3v3 too.

Does SOTFS run fullscreen at 120hz now? I got it when it came out and it refused to run fullscreen on my 120hz monitor so i refunded it.

Then I would just play vanilla. There isn't a lot of difference between the two versions. The new enemy placements are only meaningful if you already know where everything is placed in vanilla.

For some reason, when I play DaS on PC, sometime the framerate will be at 30 fps, sometime it will lock at 15 fps without me doing anything. If I go to a different zone, it will be back to 30 fps, and when I return, it will still be 30 fps. But then I quit the back at this area and come back, and it's 15 fps. For information, I mapped the fps lock option between 30fps/60fps at a different button than backspace, and I am playing on a controller, so it shouldn't do anything anyway. The worst part is that sometime, I get good fps in Blighttown.

Is there any real reason to do so, though? I know a lot of enemies and items were re-arranged. Is it worth it to play through both for the sake of seeing the layout differences? Are there any things that SotFS does worse?

if you only care about damage, get 20str/12dex and chime hammer+roaring halberd, dark infused
if you dont, get 15str/22dex and fume sword+stone twinblade, dark infused
either way, any weapon you find early on dark infused will be fine
and get 20 int+faith and talk to felkin to get his set and staff, and buy the archdrake chime, itll carry you far
i'd say have at least 25 attunement after lgk, youll have enough casts for anything
if you want i can just use mugenmonkey and make a build for you

this is a more streamlined version of my favorite build
enough str/dex to use most weapons and rock solid defense
drop str to 20 and get more attunement if you want more of a spellcaster

backstabs are gay

just kill the damn merchant, after you get to Andre after killing literally 1 boss (or mini boss) you will never ever go back to him again. unless you hadnt already bought the residence key, which drops when you kill him anyway.
