Not at all. It gives you 3 trees (except maybe Scion) to further modify your character on the grand scheme. Each tree has 6 points to spend (if the whole 2 points per difficulty is the only source of points) which is enough for any 4 point path and 1 2 point path on one of the circles.

It's some big shit and I like it.

A D3 is still running the same skills, no variety, with the same runes, no variety, until death do they part.

optimal starting points do matter. stats are critical for certain builds, so you really cant pull a 900 str iw caster if you start as shadow, templar could do a hybrid one with ease; the same was as marauder is going to struggle with crit setups, etc

the expansion can potentially reduce even further true diversity, by making certain combinations so strong that a new endgame is balanced around them
