The FFXII cast was so weirdly designed. They all looked like normal people (and the main cast is all blonde!) but they have such weird clothing. Basch for example has a weird red vest with a completely useless scrap of fabric for a shirt under it, and then some shorts and knee high boots and armor (more like trinkets) that seems to protect absolutely nothing.

Aoe or really well honed abilities. If the barriers keep using their own aoe shit, you have no choice but to restart the fight but you can actually get by with just a RW for healing as long as you can nullify most of the damage from the first phase. You don't even need shit like Valefor or Meteor: Ruinga and Ifrit with the rest of the party spreading out single target damage evenly between the barriers was enough to take them down in a timely fashion. Chains of Promathia and Wings of the Goddess are the best 2 storylines. They're also the longest. CoP takes you to some of the most beautiful and interesting zones in the game and has a great finale. WotG is the longer of the two and has basically 2 storylines in one: the main storyline and a set of quests with a story for the nation you Ally with. I personally did the Sandoria storyline for the quests and loved it. The main storyline thrusts you into the middle of the war that defines the current era of Vana'diel.

Any necessary mods for ffxi? Can't believe you still can't alt tab the game, so windower is a given. I seen a youtube video where the fellow had an onscreen mini map. Is that a mod?

What would help you have more fun? Maybe level a job you would never consider playing? Maybe beat the Dynamis Lord or Arch Dynamis Lord solo? Become a notorious shouter in Jeuno. There are lots of options.

I finally beat the Dark Lord for the original release earlier this year. That's all I ever wanted.

At the basic level it means you can just type in truncated spells ("/fire5" instead of "/ma "Fire V" <t>", "/mea" instead of "/ma "Teleport - Mea" <me>", "/ichi" or "/ni" for Utsusemi, "/cX" for cure tiers), as well as truncated party names at a minimum of three letters. If you dig in a bit, you can also set up your own shortcuts, so if I wanted to set up "/exn" to use Exenterator on the target, I could. If you have enough gil, enough storage, and lucky enough to pull something off the first time.

Getting crests for the one of the level cap quest took forever. It takes like 5 minutes to walk through all the areas where the crests are, and I probably took me 20 tries just to get one crest because you have to take sneak off to get through a door and grab the crest without aggro a room full of 75+ monsters.
In Davoi, you had to do the same thing to get through a barrier and then visit all the pools. And Oztroja you have to go through a password puzzle every time, and touch 4 levels to get through a door without aggroing. That prism powder ain't cheap.

I don't think there's any reason to believe the Rift will be skipped at this point. The reason those banners aren't translated is probably because our celebration banners won't be identical to what Japan got. I would at least prefer to know in what order the banners come and how the relics are distributed among them so I could at least plan out what to draw from and how many times. What are the best trusts I can use while leveling? Preferably ones that I can get without too much trouble too. I mostly want a good tank that can hold aggro and keep the enemy still so I don't spend so much time chasing it while they juggle aggro. Damage that kill things fast is nice (semih and mumor start sucking hard at higher levels, they used to be my favorite)

If you're talking about FFXI, I think it gives you a link to download a .zip file of all of the expansions along with the base game. There was also some weird authentification thing that I ended up skipping. Also, be prepared to update for like +8 hours.

DNC is great for soloing things. Also one of the best melee DDs currently, when you get it geared to a decent level.

GEO is good because it's the single most powerful support job in the game and, as such, is pretty much required in any group - PUG or otherwise. They're also serviceable nukers if you get the spells and gear for it (although still far behind BLM in terms of pure magical damage).

The reason why native patching is long is because the PlayOnline server is notoriously slow. Thankfully we have a choice to manually download them due to others work.

Trusts are sorted by type now with Tanks at the top. Gessho is pretty great as a Tank. Apururu is best healer, Kupofried (Wyrmking Event on right now) gives a 20% boost to XP gains, Shantotto II from logins is a pretty great Black Mage, Koru-Maru for Red Mage boosting.

Zidane even outgrows daggers in his own game. Dissidia is doing an awful job at capturing the characters, making Zidane look like a prepubescent monkey girl.

Like, look at his skills in FFIX. He had the potential to be a completely different character.
His abilities involve feints, misdirection, traps and status ailments.
I don't know, he could have abilities mimicking What's That or Flee that allow Zidane to take the enemy by surprise, or moves that are visually reminiscent of his abilities like Thievery and exploding chests, or the steampunk machines he uses for Detect.
But instead they just have him generic dagger abilities and randomly made him an Aerial Ace, which has never been iconic for him. In fact, none of his original attacks involve doing crazy jumps, unlike other characters like Squall or Cloud.
And as if that wasn't enough, they completely remodeled his design. Instead of giving him regular proportions to fit with the rest of characters, they just kept him small and tiny. But he was never short in his game, in fact he's supposed to be the same height as Cloud. Not only his design was changed, they also changed they way he moves. In Dissidia he's constantly crouching and jumping and doing weird acrobatics that, well, he never did in FFIX. He doesn't even have his signature dagger, the Orichalcum! Just two random mage mashers.

This doesn't feel like Zidane at all.

Has it gotten easier for low level players since 2006? Last time I played I felt like I was hitting gear walls at lvl 40 or so where I couldn't find great quest stuff or anything affordable on the AH. Is the crafting still hard to get into? I used to have woodworking pretty high but it started to get way too expensive.

Quick XI question here, treat me like a senile 70-year-old. I downloaded everything I needed to play on the Era server a while back and it worked fine. Now I'm picking up retail. Should I delete/uninstall everything from that previous download to ensure no errors?
