This is false actually. Shara has the better growths that fit the standard mage archetype. Plus, Shara is a lot easier to get and use due to Tsukuyomi coming a lot earlier and actually being a good unit, unlike joining at the end and being completely useless.

Alen and Lance are both pretty decent, though FE6's growths mean they can easily get screwed. Treck and Noah are kinda shit, though the latter is able to recruit Fir.

Marcus is good until you get Zealot, but don't overuse either of them. You should definitely recruit Perceval. He is excellent, has HM bonuses and is arguably the best Paladin in the game.

It's largely because it's more socially acceptable for women to have more diverse appearances. The standard of male handsomeness is pretty narrow. Just look at the people you see in daily life--women can have all kinds of hairstyles, with men it comes down to a dozen different flavors of short. Male fashion and accessories are more subdued.

I do think Mamui has some especially shitty hair options, but only build 3 Robin's hair wasn't boring as fuck. They're on the same level to me.

I'm fairly sure that just like with EXP gain, RD Laguz gained weapon rank much faster when doing untransformed counterattacks. This turns grinding those ranks up from being merely dull to actively dangerous, depending on what point in the game you're at and which enemies a given map has. For instance, Vika in Part 1 was best off trying to kick the Armors in the face, because she could eventually double them, but the Cats in Part 3 would get doubled by everything when untransformed and could only survive attacks from Swordmasters.
