So the Snowdin NPC mentions that Sans and Papyrus appeared out of no where one day. That got me thinking with all of the Gaster info and connection to the two, is it possible that when he fell into the machine he was split into two beings?

It would explain why no one seems to find their sudden appearance strange and why they seem unusual compared to other monsters.

Depends on whether or not the energy 1 child receives is split if the parents have another child of if the extra child receives just as much energy from the parents along with its sibling, thereby killing the parents faster.
Overall though supposing Asgore and Toriel were both ~100 years old, they'd probably have Asriel for 100 years before dying and turning to dust. Asriel would have 200 years of power under his belt though, and so on and so forth if he married and had a kid with another Boss Monster.
Boss Monster children could theoretically become gods simply through passing on more children, since the effects would only increase as more were had. Eventually you'd have boss monsters with the powers of the hundreds of generations before them.
