Apparently consoles couldn't handle the size of the Normandy so there is a loading screen at that part and since nowadays games aren't programmed for maximum performance but for lowest common denominator, it was just left in for PC players to enjoy as well.

I think it's probably down to the individual. I can't see Jack ever going to battle in a heavy suit of armor. Even if she did, she'd probably feel weighed back by it and constricted. She's much more likely to rely on her biotics alone, as she's probably become accustomed to most of her life.

Miranda and Samara on the other hand would and should be much more sensible, donning the armor but I'd much rather see their respective cleavage
