He has 2 hits. Not 2 HP, 2 hits. Everything does 1 full heart of damage. You cannot increase this at all until after you beat the Hush, where you can have 3 hits instead.

You do not get free devil deals. They are still the same, costing 1 or 2 hearts. In other words, without 9 lives, you will die taking Brimstone/Mom's Knife/Abbadon. And any that aren't 2 HP deals, leave you in a lost state, but without the ability to fly.

You cannot get Soul or Black Hearts.

Picking up coins does not give you the coin if you are missing a hit. It's consumed to refill it.

Wafer and the Percs pill actually reduce the amount of damage he takes. He gets Polaroid invincibility because it's not considered red hearts by the game. With Piggy Bank or Swallowed Penny you can essentially have infinite health. Wooden Nickel is a flat out better Yum Heart for him too.

He's certainly better than Maggy, ???, Lazarus and the Lost at least.

I actually love hush for many reasons. You just need to realise that it's the actual end to your run and everything after that is just the victory lap.
I usually felt really underwhelmed when I got over powered before let's say depths 2 and then the rest 50% of the run was just boring and mindless button tapping. Now with hush you have like a new condition to your runs with a reward. Get to hush in 30min with really good build and you have a chance to "skip" to the chest cause you get to choose 2 items from 4 with usually a good item/trinket/card from shop/chests. And then the rest ~5-10min is more enjoyable cause you feel accomplishment for winning hush and then you get the additional feeling of power from the 2-3 item boost.
And the scaling hp is just bredmunds way of putting a timer on the boss (aka survive 2-3min) which I like a lot. Learn the patterns and it's as easy as any other boss.
