You get those massive soldier stacks because soldiers are the lowest tier on the promotion ladder, they're what farmers/labourers demote to. So they tend to be the ones immigrating. But you probably turn your soldier spending all the way down when this happens, and needs fulfillment is a factor in pop promotion, so they have a more difficult time promoting back into useful jobs. I think Australia sees it the most because the non-immigrant population of Australia is so small, the soldier immigration is very noticeable.

To be honest with you family, I think CK2 needs a huge overhaul on how traits and stuff work, especially in relation to events.
Instead of having the golden options if you have some trait when you get an event, you should only be able to choose that gold option.
