I just want to share this addiction i have for path of exile. Ive been playing for the last 3 years on and off, taking breaks here and there but always coming back to it.

And in the last year ive been playing non-stop like a real addict. Runing at my PC every time i get back from work. Cuting on my sleep to play a little more. Skiping meals because i just riped and i must get this new char to act 4 before i go to bed.

I find myself always thinking about poe when doing something else like when im at work for exemple. Thinking about how i could improve my build, new builds idea, etc.

Anyway that might sounds lame but i just really love this game ! I can only hope it keeps going like that for years ! Maybe some of you poe addicts can relate and feel free to share your personal addiction symptoms !

That is certainly a part of it, but it also has to do with the fact that a lot of people have really burnt out on the game after all this time. I didn't play for 1 and a half years or so and then came back in the last third of warbands/tempest so I'm fine, but I can imagine people continually playing poe having been burnt out.

Small changes in mechanics, new uniques and skills are fine and all between major patches but what the game really needs in my opinion is more NEW end game content. More things to do other than chaining maps or killing Atziri over and over. Maybe new Atziri-like encounters, I dunno.

I honestly never got why people kept asking for more chaos gems to be added to the game.

Like, I get wanting more gems, and mechanically contagion looks interesting, but it could deal fire damage and be just as good in my eyes.

So... I'm playing an evasion melee cyclone build. And something is kind of bothering me a bit.

How come there is no trigger/counterattack gem that works on evade/dodge of an attack? Call it Feint or something

You have triggers for block, and one for just getting hit, but if you go phase acro all of those are bad trigger gems

For an evasion/dodge one, you could just basically change vengeance slightly, go from "30% chance to to counterattack with this skill when hit" to "30% chance to to counterattack with this skill when you evade or dodge an attack"

Most game devs are like these days. No one's fucking thinking of possibilities and end up getting wrapped in chicken code after a few years.

The ultimate nightmare being that the devs change after a while and you actually have to sort out the previous person's chicken shit. At times like these I remember WoW's default bag size limit problem, where it's hardcoded into the game to the level that people cannot figure out how to change it without sinking countless working hours into it and breaking everything apart, because the game was built in the 90s, the programmers have changed a bunch of time and no one could think ahead.

Of course that's an example that doesn't apply in this case, but just to see that everyone does shit like that. And to be fair thinking ahead constantly even for the most minor details is not that easy.

TL:DR Want to build a bow-tank build for HC. (Must be a bow build)


So, came back to the game after ages it feels.
Back then I build myself an Aegis block melee tank. I loved how safe it was. But that guy sits on std now and I dont care much for it.

Next 4month league I want to play ranged so I am already testing bow builds since flashback.
They seem all rather lackluster compared to what my tank can pull off.

Range meta, here range meta there but its all kind weird and new to me.
I see how 'regular' melee chars are inferior to melee, thus range builds rule since always I assume. But nothing can really can beat aegis. (Was suprised the item actually still exists) its flat out OP.

anyway, thinking of going Bow duelist now.

Aimed defense:

30k AR, 6k HP (seems like the most effective HP ratio)
Enfeeble and Ice Wall on CWDT
Iron Reflex, unwavering stance
Life gain on hit with Tornado shot in order for instant leech. (Thus we can go regen based)

DPS will probably end up somewhere in the 10k span.
I dont care much for DPS or crits. Aslong as I can clear a map in 3-5 minutes I am totally fine with the damage. I much rather am indestructable.

First of all, are there any builds out there like that? Can you suggestion other means of defence when being ranged?

The dodge is nice, but with current plans I'll sit at 6 frenzy charge (inc. boots) for 12% dodge.

I played a TS evade+dodge build (Not viable at all imo), a 10kHP Explosive arrow (EA needs to get changes. OP as hell | HP without armor is still squishy as fuck) and a SA build in the past weeks for testing purposes. Getting ministunned was a problem on all of those.
There is to much shit that jumps into your face in this game imo. Especially with those crazy map mods sometimes.
