I'm pretty sure it's gonna even out eventually because it's a Bethesda game and they're shit at balancing, but I'm playing on Very Hard and my favorite thing is bullet scarcity. Any game that can make me cheer when I find a decent cache of shotgun shells makes me happy. It's also forcing me to use a variety of weapons, which is cool.

Anyone else honestly having trouble getting invested into this story? I mean holy fuck i'm just so bored. I just fucking murder this guy who was hassling a girl named trudy, traded with trudy, then beat her head in with my tire iron because she was no threat to me. I've explored like 50 areas and have failed multiple quests but i'm still level 7 before i've even reached diamond city. The game just feels off like it shouldn't be this easy to just murder everyone but it honestly is.

I had no problems roleplaying in new vegas or 3 but this game is just so... boring. It looks nice but it doesn't feel like a fallout game. The story is bland as hell and it just feels like every ones getting by just fine. The story is just boring the shit out of me so far.

I went melee and regretted it. If you get attacked by anything mid swing you get interrupted. Every ghoul basic attack will stop your swings and it just feels really clunky. Luckily I found a legendary shotgun with explosive rounds so now I'm just using that.

Honestly I feel that if you're going to give the MC of a game as much of a predefined background as FO4 gives, they should just make the character a full character like the Witcher games do instead of still trying to make them a blank slate, since the end result is just a super bland character.

New Vegas was great for being able to RP your character since the only background given was "is a courier"

Anyone encounter a system memory issue @ 8GB?

Granted I only have 6.9/8 available due to igpu on which I am going to turn off-- I just had F04 closed by Windows saying I ran out of system memory. Meanwhile, a friend is reporting only 2GB of sys mem in use by FO4. 2.2/6.9 still allows plenty of clearance but still occurred.

Wondering if this happened to anyone else.

I'm about four hours in. Game certainly feels like more Fallout, and I haven't encountered any game-breaking glitches yet.

Killing raiders for the Minutemen is already starting to feel bland and I've only done it twice, I'm really having trouble feeling any investment in the Minutemen/Sanctuary stuff. I like the concept of the base building stuff, but in practice it just feels like a lot of busywork.

I'm probably just going to make a beeline for Diamond City tomorrow and just get the main plot out of the way so I can start doing silly runs.

There was a reason why Courier Six was introduced as someone who had survived the wasteland for years. This "fresh out the vault" stuff makes the rest of the plot impossible to take seriously.

I prefer DT because while it does fuck over shotguns and rapid-fire weapons it feels more believable for small and/or slow projectiles to be almost completely ineffective against sufficiently strong armor while more powerful ones just punch through without losing much of their energy.
Also it opens up choices like the damage and DT multipliers on different types of ammo in New Vegas which wouldn't work as well with DR.

So I'm trying to go for a playthrough in which things are at least semi-realistic. From all of your experiences thus far, how much carry weight would be good for such a playthrough?
