I know this is ingnorant bait but for any innocent anon there who wishes to get enlightened.

You don't need to use the health hack. In fact, the health hack is going to crash your game.

All you need to do is join pubs or play with friends and once you get a grim, hack that grim into whichever number you deem appropiate taking into account tomes and dices and that's it.

You're pretty much only partly rigging the gamble part of the game(implying it's not all a gamble). The best part? Your game is not going to crash due to CE, I've been doing this for the past 100 hours and the only crashes I get are the ones I got already before.

I would only buy it if your rig is far above the recommended system specs, with a lot of spare RAM to help with the "optimization." As someone with 700+ hours in L4D2, I think it has some things to offer while generally not being a great game. The loot system IS a bit fucked (though according to Twitter that will be addressed soon) and the optimization issues ARE pretty ridiculous (also supposedly going to be addressed in the patch next week) and the AI director IS an insane monster that hates you AND you're going to think the "special infected" are overpowered as fuck (and in the case of the hookrat and pouncer you're right, mostly due to them being twiggy as fuck due again to optimization issues) BUT if you can get past all that, there's something of a game there.

Sword and Dagger so far has been the best weapons I've used in game.

Got Orange ones with Devastating Blow, When you Shove, if you continue to hold Mouse 1 she stabs with it and it works like a Charged attack. Great for Stormvermin.

Other than that the swipes on it start off great for a crowd then you just pick out the one not stunlocked and stab it in the head with final blow.

Funnest I've had with a weapon, I dunno why. I've had Orange Sword and Shield with DB and create literal tides of Slaverats. Not as fun.

It's a small community but by no means dead.
IMO it is actually kinda smart of TWI as most people have forgotten about it, so upon the actual full release they'll be able to hype it up again. It's all about watching each others backs. If you see someone dealing with a pack, trust he's got it and you deal with another incoming pack or make sure he doesn't get flanked while he deals with the bulk.

You'll learn to read the sounds and not get surrounded and you'll learn that you want to cut off their run in and hit them just before they crash into the group effectively separating each platoon of slaves so they can't reach critical mass. If there are no waves immediately attacking you, take a second and make sure a rat didnt get knocked behind a team mate or that they aren't spilling around his guard or a lone rat snuck up on him. That's where you are losing the majority of your health if you're decent enough with the block - getting backstabbed by shit outside your field of view. Always, always be thowing glances over your shoulder and listening for rats.

Protip: Play as elf to remove all the elf shitters. She's not bad if you're a decent player, but she also attracts the worst faggots.

Longbow is a great weapon. It's not as good as handguns against specials of course, but if you can headshot, it's still very fast and you also have less reload speed. Good against masses as well, since it's piercing and even more so if you've got the split-arrow trait on it. (The other ranged weapons are shit though.)

Dual daggers/single sword both have amazing charge attacks that will fuck up a stormvermin in like 2/3 hits real fast. Their standard attack is lacking, but if let your shieldbros cover you, you can still rack up more than enough kills to carry your own weight.

Best weapon is probably dagger/sword. In fact, I have to disagree with you, I think it's overall THE BEST melee weapon in-game. Wide slashing arcs and still very fast + headshot modifier. The only thing that isn't great is the charge attack, which deals sub-par damage compared to dagger/dagger or sword.

As for WH, I'll agree that he's also top tier. His only weakness (talking rapier/pistols here) is a lack of long-range anti-specials. Rapier is quite possibly the best melee weapon in the game and you can go rambo with the pistols to bring down nearly any foe if you've got the ammo to spare.

Soldier and Dwarf are both very solid options, but I find their melee weapons unimpressive in terms of killing potential. They're either good for tanking or taking out storms, but not just cleaning house. Sure, the two-handers work, but swings take so long you have less time to move around and dodge. Handguns are obviously best for ranged special sniping though.

Lastly, Wizard is obviously useful because of her infinite ammo and ranged AoE. But I wouldn't say she's more necessary than any of the other classes.

I'd argue that the Dwarf's 2h Axe and both his and the Soldier's 2h hammer are great at wave clearing/stunning. They hit a huge arc and deal damage to everything, and their basic attacks can 2-shot Storm Vermin during a horde encounter.

While shield-weapon may be objectively their best loadout, it's nice to have the other with a 2h for some extra crowd control and actual damage output.

I think it really makes a difference what your team's gear is.

For instance I'm a BW and use Beam Staff and in conjunction with a shield user we can tank almost anything. Knock back hordes while I blast them, and I've vented enough by the time more have rushed. Plus I can down a strength pot and M2 torch an Ogre while the shield user tanks. But I couldn't do either of those things without a shield user, or if I used a different staff.

I think people need to realize weapon synergy is just as important as player skill.

Absolutely, though I do think dwarf and soldier make each other a bit redundant. Nothing bad, but I think my dream team is WH/wiz/elf/dorf (dwarf because he makes a better tank as others can look over him while he's in front), with rapier/pistols, conflag staff, daggers/longbow, hammershield/handgun. Everyone capable to taking out specials at range, everyone has a counter to storms, and most can deal enough damage to down an ogre without bombs.

Actually, that's a thing I've noticed more and more. If you have two shields in your group, that lowers your combined damage, so you'll have bigger trouble with ogres.
After all "tanks" do not tank ogres better than anyone else. (backpeddle + block + dodge for whoever has aggro is the best tactic)

Even given perfect skill, there are certain shots that will be impossible for a longbow user because of travel time and erratic enemy movement, and you have to account for bullet drop. I don't have a group, so for pubs, picking elf will at least lock out all the regular elf shitters.

Interesting to see that you dropped shields altogether though, do you agree that they're less useful against ogres?

I've been telling /vtg/ this since release, you're wasting your breath.
Also the Sword/Daggers have a 2 hit combo for their charge attack. The first is the sweeping attack from the dual swords, then the second attack is the dual head stab from the daggers the second does more damage and fucks up SV. Also there is a 'charge bash' if you use a charge attack through the guard (hold LMB while blocking) you push then perform the last attack in the normal combo, a long lunge.
Also
The first 2 attacks have wide horizontal sweeps. The 3rd is a smaller sweep and the 4th still has cleave, but it's in a straight line, so you can stab forward through multiple rats.

The contact point for the first 2 strikes is the just towards the centre from your right hand and around halfway down the dagger blade respectively, so remember this when going for headshots.

And yeah, regarding elf hate, nobody seems to believe me, but the game improved by a lot for me after switching to elf for pubs. Maybe it's just my imagination, but elf seems to be one of the most divisive playerbases, either complete dogshit, or really good, from what I've seen on other elves. (The majority being shitters of course.)

One blast into instantly venting has you pretty much at zero charge in time for next wave. You can also go full blast mode and build up a lot of heat and then switch to your melee for a while. Also venting when on higher heat drains it faster, so the health loss from venting isn't as bad as you'd think.

I've never completed a map with any other heroes because autism. So I'm totally insulated from the 'elf shitter' phenomena. I just know it's a bit of a shock to see anyone elses name appear at the top of the stat pages. I'm usually doing it by a large margin too and I don't really feel that it's all that hard to do. I mostly play pub nightmare or hard with my friends as cata pubs is a nightmare and I'm still trying to train my group of friends into an acceptable fighting unit but they all have jobs and other retarded shit so they can't play for 12 hours a day in the service of Lileath.
So as for the combo. You really want to only do the first 3 attacks unless it's a lone straggler or a finishing blow, as there is a large (relatively) pause after the 4th attack and in a 1vHorde situation you're going to basically be planning on stun locking everyone so you don't die. This pause will fuck you up sooner or later either go into a charge attack or block after the 3rd attack to interrupt the chain. Then you can either push, start your combo again or perform the charge push (which is the 4th attack in the chain anyway). With the charge attack you're always pumping out horizontal slashes and it great if you have a shield wall you can duck in and out the front of. The seconds method is based for solo work. There are lots of combos you can put together on the fly to shit on rats around provided you're not mashing the mouse like a scrub can prioritize the right targets.

Because you're relying on interrupting every rats attack before they hit you, you want to be constantly attacking, like whack a mole(rat) on steroids and you can pick which rats to push down, which to sweep, which to finish. I like to do a sort of 'waltz' pattern but cutting through the rats so you keep moving, you exploit their inability to turn during their attacks and it's great for maintaining 360 awareness. If you get good at it you can just dance around in the middle of hordes avoiding damage because the attack speed is so fast anyone you see about to attack you just stab in the face or put on their ass, Provided you are fast enough, you are literally invincible, The trick is blending the turns and dodges - hence 'waltz' to maintain 360 awareness and dupe the rats you can't knock over or kill in the window before you need to attack again.

You can pretty easily spot who CE'd their way through levels/got carried on HoM runs.

I've beaten the game on nightmare, working on cata. I've done probably 30 runs of HoM and I'm only level 46.

When someone joins that's level 99 and misses all the pot spots, is on half health 3 minutes in it pisses me off pretty raw.

Master Crafted on the bows only increase fire rate by 15%. Very unimpressive compared to the 50% decreased reload speed of handguns, crossbows and repeaters. Definitely not essential, but still very nice.

it's possible with some fairly easy jumps and trial and error to jump your way to the top of the map and preform it backwards. The final objective, when completed, has a neat quirk of killing all rats that spawn (instead of stopping them outright) automatically so people wouldn't die during the ending cut scene. Then you can go down and toss the barrels onto the pillar unopposed and complete the map with minimal effort and in minimal time as long as you don't get raped by special spawns before you do the final objective.

The knight can be heavy and armored with fast and heavy weapons alike, maybe even a spear. The squire is just another sword and shield class with accesss to french things.
