Dragon's Stand is a timed map, i.e. you have ~2 hours to complete the meta event (the only dynamic events that pop up branch off from the meta event). If you don't, you get nuked and off-loaded to a newly created instance. As such, it needs a minimum of 5 people a lane to start things off. It's a bitch to organise but I found it surprisingly fun once the train gets going.
I don't much like TD because I don't really "see" or "feel" the other lanes like I do in AB or DS.

As much as any other model.
If you don't have 3D experience, you should know that after modelling something, you have to rig it, which involves creating askeletonand assigning weights to each vertex, until the deformation looks good.
You can try to pose a model by hand, but it usually looks bad, unless you put a lot of time into it.
Also, I'm not sure if it's a engine thing, or due to the .obj format, but the model came triangulated. You can see on the right side of this picture how it used to be, and on the left, how it was modelled
And also, Arenanet has the weirdest UVs I have ever seen. They probably paint over the model, instead of working on 2D

Why did they give the femnorn the WORST FUCKING VOICED DIALOGUE in the game? Even the humans have better lines and fuck humans. Man, i hope some people are right and that's we're just getting introduced to him and his minions, and not going after him next.
If the next living story is just us moving onto another dragon i would be shocked, Mordremoth barely even lasted a month in Tyria time. He stretched his vines out over what was probably a few weeks, we found out, set out on a mission over the course of a couple of weeks, attacked the jungle where pact got destroyed, then HoT begins and our characters just literally sprinted through the jungle which felt like it was 3 or so days tops and then Mordremoth was supposedly dead. Zhatain took probably almost a year since the undead attacks, our character built an army from the ground up then trekked across the land over months and months, slowly destroying Zhaitans sight and mouths, cutting off his food supply which severely weakened him before we launched a final assault.
I mean it's going to be lame if they just pull a "lol mordremoth isn't actually dead :^)" too, but at least that would be better than killing an elder dragon without even breaking a sweat then just moving on to the next one.

I'm really pissed at the guild wars community based on those three guilds I'm in. People have time and time again begged for Guild Halls. Anet finally releases them and all of a sudden all these people don't give a shit anymore. These guilds are filled with people who have absolutely no care for halls.
In each of the same 3 guilds I've been in similar situation. "We've just unlock X, come and check it out!"...3-4 people show up.
I mean what gives? Is anyone else seeing a similar thing where 90% of the guild just doesn't really care for halls? Is all the begging for halls pre HoT just hyped up BS?

My guild has like 20 people, 10 or so are active, and most of the work is being done by myself, my GM and a friend of ours who flips pres (he handles shit that requires deep pockets)
None of us are particularly bothered by it. We explicitly make it a point to tell new guild mates, "Hey man, if you're poor, don't worry about donating, just save your shit or sell your shit, we aren't about to squeeze your balls."
If they're rich we ask them if they have anything to spare, and if they say no, we don't press the issue.

The 10% that were shouting probably seemed like alot of people becase the other 90% didnt give a fuck, so you only heard about the 10%, 100% of the time when in reality, it wasnt many.

I guess. My issue is that I know they're not poor.
I know they play a lot. I see them online. Some have been playing since release, others for year+. It's irked me even more that a few have said that they're hoarding something for resell. Like Flax seeds.
For most general items, it's not a big issue. But for high demand items that require farming (like Coarse Sand or Flax Seeds), no body is donating. So far when it comes to Coarse sand in my main guild, there's two people (counting myself) that have donated 90% of the coarse sand. I've probably personally lost out on ~150g in mats that I've donated instead of sold.
The thing is that they didn't design these numbers thinking that only 5-10 people will be doing the donations. They designed it with the guild in mind. It's supposed to be a GUILD effort, not a "Leaders/officers pay for everything".
I had someone the other day have the tenacity to ask "When are we going to get a real building for an upgrade" (reference not smaller upgrades, but a fully built none ruined structure). He's donated maybe 1% of the items so far. Which isn't much.
I'm going to just stop doing most of the donations. Tired of losing out on this money. If bitches want to leave because were not getting upgrades fast enough, then I'm say screw them.

The presentation, scope and mechanics improved significantly, but the actual delivery and narrative of the story fell flat on its face... namely because they didn't deliver much of anything, sylvari-related especially - in an expansion that focused on sylvari no less.
I'm hoping that Anet actually delivers some answers now that Mordremoth is "dead." Since HoT's story act canonically takes place within a week and it's a crisis scenario where our character didn't really have the time to explore the jungle for keks, we can now start delving into the real meat and potatoes of the mysteries and lore - like Malyck's role, the other pale tree, how the Nightmare court and sylvari in the outside world we be effected once word breaks out, the fact of the remains of the pact, the whole royal heir debacle, how Rytlock got his powers and so on. But considering that they didn't delve into ANY of this for an EXPANSION of all things, I'm not sure if I have much hope for the living story segments in the future.
What's certain is that they WILL dive more into Rata Novus, the White Mantle, the egg and the exalted. That's a given.
I feel like the basics are there. If Anet can actually get the narrative aspects on par with their new story form presentation, then I feel they'll have something really special on their hands.

If Anet actually starts implementing guild vs. guild battles, or finds a way to connect player housing and player housing instances into guilds, then that would probably change. But right now the rewards aren't really that personal, or just too much of a damn effort to grind.

His one offhand remark about the mists letting him understand how to invoke the power of legendary figures is all we needed in the case of him actually obtaining his powers. The mists is a funky place where no real laws or time applies. He was there for a while, it got in his head and now he understands how to use the power of figures of legend. Rata Sum and the whole Rtylock/mists ordeal will almost definitely see some attention later on. Seems like the 64 bit launcher is a big upgrade for people who kept crashing a lot, but if you never really had any crashes seems like 64 bit is worse. I haven't had any crashing problems in the jungle events yet but when the 64 bit came out i grabbed it because why not? 64 bit is just a straight upgrade right? But there's no actual improvement, the game runs the same except only now, the 64 bit version has a huge memory leak for some reason. So after you play for a bit shit starts getting clogged up to the point your game has a quick stutter for a couple of seconds so everything can sort of reset itself. Doesn't sound like a huge issue but it's fucking annoying, especially when it happens when you try to glide then fall to your death because of it.
I thought the stutter was weird so i looked around and seems like it's a common issue with the 64 bit. Kind of dumb, hopefully they fix it with the actual official release of 64 bit.

The economy is always awful because Anet tries to control it. It's so bizarre.
Any other MMO the company never touches the auction house and they rarely ever interfere with the economy unless something is extremely out of whack. They just let players do their thing, they let players sort of prices of shit by themselves because supply and demand will always create its own natural balance.
Anet doesn't understand this at all and it feels like they don't trust players to handle their own economy, so they try to control it themselves. They will do whatever they can to make items have a fixed rate and never change. If people decide to farm some specific at all they will immediately adjust it and stop them. You're not allowed to farm anything. Anet will tell you if they want something to be cheaper (which never happens) or to be more expensive (which ALWAYS happens) by dropping more and more useless gold sinks because fuck players ever actually making any money, right? They literally dictate the game's market and economy. It's fucking awful.
I mean just before HoT released anet made a blog post saying "don't worry, we're going to keep a very close eye on the market and fix whatever we need to". I mean the sheer arrogance of these asshole is insane. You don't need to fuck with anything, just let players handle it, let people farm things if they want to farm things. A natural balance will always create itself.

What is there in this game that costs EXCLUSIVELY gold that you suddenly can't afford now? All the new sinks need just a shitload of materials, not gold, materials, and the price of the materials is decided by players, so when the amount of gold in the economy drops so do the prices. Dropping some redundant 3 gold rewards in fractals or some events isn't going to make the playerbase get their legendaries or guild halls any quicker.

Okay normally I wouldn't be farming Kessex Peak and Gend Fields for Oregano leaves, but when they skyrocket in price from 40 copper a piece to 10 silver a piece (and I need 5 per salad, and 80 salads, not to count other mats), yeah I end up having to farm them. If they were 40copper a piece still I'd buy 2 stacks for a few gold, run a few paths of AC, and call it good. But now It'd run me about 66 gold and I'd run every dungeon in the game for like a week to make that gold back.

Why is it boderline impossible to find a good guild if you want something in between? I've been stuck for months with about 6 friends of mine trying to find a guild for us to join that isn't some map chat all welcome guild but doesn't come down to no fun allowed. We've joined like a dozen guilds now and It's getting to the point where I think we've done literally the same trails for different guilds.
Are PvP guilds as shit as PvE guilds? I found a pretty nice WvW guild almost right away when I tried.

Crafting is really only useful for endgame stuff like ascended weapon crafting, and quite expensive.
Those things are also account bound, so it doesn't matter who crafts it among your characters.
So check the wiki for stat combos and a crafting site for prices, and see if you want something and how much it'd cost to do.
When you think you'd want to sink the money, then train it on someone, doesn't really matter who, but I personally like to keep the theme of the character classes.

I'm personally fine with long-term achievements, but I dislike time-gating, RNG and things like gating the crystalline ore merchant behind a 2h meta event. Let the pods be the reward, and/or make it so that the progress of the meta event unlocks merchant tiers like in Dry Top.

Mesmers are fine. DHs were never a problem when I play on mine.
Warrior was easily the 2nd worst class after thief. Don't know about now with the Berserker buff, probably still bad.
As for baseline rangers, I don't know. My druid bris been fine survivng against everything atm tho.

All Elder Dragons have a hunger for magic. His theme is being undead and comprised of many rotting pieces of flesh, a sort of modular dragon. That's what helped form the strategy of killing those wandering pieces of him that fed him magic and information. That could have been his weakness - being everywhere at once like Mordremoth but unlike Mordremoth his pieces were disconnected. We starved him just to make him weak enough for the ships to assault him.
Another theory is that Zhaitan was killed the "hard way," without exploiting his weakness, which is why it took a century to get rid of him and why an assault on Orr was so elaborate and time-consuming.Not that that stops me from hating how flat Mordremoth's defeat felt.

Perhaps it's a double-edged sword and though he's well versed in it in some ways (being able to corrupt Sylvari who are literally just somewhere in the vicinity of him) things like the Dream provide a bakc door where he's less able to fight.
Or maybe the distributed nature of their (or at least Mordy's) psyche cripples him. At the time of the story instance the Pact is pushing on him (it happens step in step with Dragon's Stand) and he constantly has to be watching EVERY mordrem to ensure they're under control. If you replay the Rata Novus segment of the story and walk back from the start you find a Mordrem guard who's lying there and Canach's able to strike up a conversation with him because Mordy's call is weak down in Rata Novus for some reason. It lasts for a minute or two before Mordremoth catches on, focuses on the guard and forces him to fight you. It really seems like he has to keep up the control on everyone at all time or they can just go off and do their own thing.
Kind of makes me wonder how they'll justify fighting in Magus Falls after his death. At least with Zhaitan there was no ambiguity about his lingering control (Arah explorable takes place post-death after all) but with Mordy I guess the idea is that the remaining guard will be just too loyal to notice that their head has gotten too quiet I guess? Or maybe HoT zones are just going to forever be in that time-frame and never move forward.

The treaty isn't really a fair example, considering that it's entirely likely that it's taking forever to come to agreeable terms, especially with renegades/separatists looking to ruin it. The real world has countless counterparts, North/South Korea probably being the most well known contemporary example.

Given that the PC says "the Pact is gone" to Trahearne (which is kind of a fucking lie, they're fighting right outside. What an asshole.) I think they might be basically scrapping the Pact in favor going back to the three Orders. You even sort of see this already. Each of the first three maps are Order-themed. VB is Vigil. Auric is Priory. TD is Whispers. Pretty much all important NPCs in those zones belong to their respective faction or one of the "native" factions.
Alternatively they'll make it Laranthir or just use the PC and tip-toe around actually using your name by saying "the Pact Marshall" and "they" forever. An election would be pointless because it'd just be between random nobodies at this point as that's all there is underneath you and Laranthir.

Technically, it's done to tell the story of how each Order re-establishes themselves before all three of them team up for DS.
You see all three orders in all three zones, so it's not like VB is all Vigil, AB is all Priory and TD is all Whispers. You see a lot of Vigil members in Tarir, for example.
I do like that over the featureless, faceless Pact, though.
