The only good carriers are Langley, Hiryu, Midway. Midway is still too damn strong, Langley still stomps against no AA and Hiryu is the strongest around its tier. Everything else has terrible planes that die to AA or is in the tier where others just run fighter loadouts so CVs have no impact.

Cruisers are WAY more flexible, but BBs offer more direct ability to deal damage.
That obviously means BBs can get you more credits, but BBs pay way more for repairs and ammo.


Ultimately, it comes down to your tolerance for RNG vs. your tolerance for watching retarded teams die and being unable to carry them to victory.

If you can live with RNG fucking you over, go BB.
If you can live with doing your utmost but still watching your team die like retarded lemmings and losing the game, go CA.

Anyone know where I can download the patch files manually? The osw wrapper screws over the download process, in torrent mode or direct. I know WOT has direct access to patch files.

fighter loadout is very capable though and you can rack up scores of 50+ planes shot down per match

Aoba is Fruity Taco v2, with better turret turning speed, better shell trajectories, reload, torpedoes, and marginally better armor.

Myoko is Fruity Taco v3, with almost twice the guns for more alpha damage, better shell trajectory, more torpedoes, and marginally better armor over the Aoba.

This trend continues up to, and especially including, the Zao. The entire time the guns themselves getting progressively more and more railgun like, allowing them to directly pierce into enemy ship hulls at longer and longer ranges instead of plunging.

I have more than enough EXP and flags and shit to go around but I'm really missing money and money calculation is strange as sometimes I do poorly but get a lot of money or I do really good but money isn't that great. I've played up to mutsuki, farragut and this.

With soviet DD's, I'm trying to use my guns at long range as often as I can, but I had to push onto their DD's this time around, otherwise the 2 fubukis and 1 Kagero would have complete dominance of the match. As they did, once I was removed from the game.

I can run a simple mod to trick the game into thinking I have LoS of everyone. I use it to send my strike groups away from the enemy aircraft and can alpha strike a carrier 9/10 games. It's undetectable so far thanks too...

GM's use a very similar system, all those phantom fortresses could see everyone at all times and there's files in the game that allow this for the player if you know what to change.

The differences between tiers are nowhere near as great in WoWs and HE shells are the great equalizer. They could have done everything right this patch, but they decided to fuck it up.
Instead of just buffing exp for capping and planes. We are going to do this while drastically nerfing damage exp/credits. So now you can cap points and die in the first five minutes and still do better than most of your team.
Then the CV nerfs. They are fine to be honest and where they need to be. Oh, no they couldn't fucking let well enough alone. They've fucked with the dogfighting skill and completely fucked all semblance of balance.
Oh and that's not fucking all. Now BBs can't even punish broadsiding cruisers at sub 6km.
We all agreed that CAs needed a buff at higher tier.
Nerfing BBs this fucking hard though without even a warning is too god damn much.

The Karl is slow and fragile with short range guns, use islands for cover and punish over-aggressive plays.

Hide behind islands and jump out while they're busy dodging your torpedos. The only thing the Karl is decent at is ambushing the broadside of an unsuspecting ship rounding an island - something any ship can do. KLM AP being what it is, it does mesh with the broadsides, citadels or not.

If you're on Strait or Ocean.. narrow your profile and retreat/reverse when ships start shooting at you. You're still going to die, but atleast you might buy your team a few more 'wasted' enemy volleys while you twiddle your thumbs because nothing is in range.

People tend to tunnel-vision Karls; exploit that. I had a div-mate run straight up to a group of 5~ ships with their Kuma and torp them point-blank because they were all trying to focus my Karl down - I even sunk their DD with a torp for getting too cocky about chasing me.

That said, embrace the suck; the Karl has plenty of it.

He has only one TB squad. Use one of yours to kite his fighters over friendly anti-air and try to kill his bombers. Don't try to use your fighters for kiting. With the latest patch they will enter dogfight that they won't be able to either win or leave. You should be able to turn things to your favor if you don't screw up and if your opponent isn't a seal clubber. That's the best you can do if you get MM like 2 Hoshos against 2 Langleys.

Go to tech tree and look for ships you will use for AA cover. Don't even bother with AA defense stat, look for the ones with good dpm on their guns. Fly directly above them while kiting as much as possible, a lot of ships have big increase in their AA aura at 2.1km.

I'm honestly not seeing this so called "AP nerf". I keep hearing about how showing your broadsides to a BB is better than angling now. I I tested it out in a match, 1v1 Baltimore vs Iowa, going against all I have learned so far and showing my broadsides at close range, 10-5km. I got deleted fast. Angling is still a better aproach, since it's a smaller target area and easier to dodge shots.

Yamatos delete any cruiser by doubleclicking on it, Midways and Hakuryus delete whatever they want by selecting all planes and clicking on it.

Unless a CA can do shit like invisiifire, it's simply free XP for the first baBBy or CVnt who feels like collectign the kill.

The CVnts justify this by pointing out how CAs have barrage that can actually shoot down planes, and the baBBies will tell you a haunting tale about the torpedos and HE spam that is really terrible and actually may cause the poor target baBBie to lose hitpoints.

DD players don't really give a fuck because they realized their class is a mem around tier 7, and they just like to go fast anyway.

That would be fine if it was only BBs, except it affects cruisers as well.

Both my Myoko and Aoba no longer penetrate the citadels of any cruiser nearly as often at every angle. I used to murder Omahas and Phoenix's that so much as looked at me funny and now I rarely get any cit pens against them except from the strangest of angles. Conversely, neither one gets penetrated themselves nearly as often. I have been bouncing shots I knew should have killed me in the patch before but in this patch just ricochet off harmlessly.

general rule:
A cruiser 10km out at full broadside and speed will generally require a 10 notch lead.

Destroyers will require more, Battleships(unless its a Kongo) will require less.

Every ship(and player) is a bit different and they aren't always going to cruise in a straight broadside line for you; adjust and learn; your brain will adapt.

I can't really speak for other people because I've mostly enjoyed it too, but the complaints tend to be over stuff like the excessive grind, balance issues, lack of new content, matchmaking issues, and there's probably other stuff I'm forgetting.
I didn't really have any of those problems, but this patch killed off a bunch of mods, fucked with CV's pretty badly, and more importantly for me, fucked up armor penetration mechanics to the point where ships I enjoyed stopped being fun.
It's a shame too, because the actual content of the patch and most of the changes that were actually intentional seemed promising.

So, what you're trying to tell me is that when you "eyeball" the shot, your shells will magically change course mid-flight to adjust for the change in course of the target ship that occurred after firing? Is that what you're trying to say, you smartshit?

Torpedoes ar fucking slower than shells shot from a gun. They take longer to get to the fucking target. The target has more time to change course for whatever fucking reason. The moment they do so they invalidate whatever fucking lead you had on them when you fired, unless they only slightly change course or change course way too late.

Not the guy you've been arguing with, but the aim mod was only good for a lead indicator on a target moving in a straight line, it's was unreliable at best when a ship was trying to turn a lot to evade fire. I'd always just eyeball it whenever someone was trying to dodge fire with the aim assist as just guide on their speed, and I found it was a lot more successful.

Besides, someone with aim assist is always going to have the leg up on someone without it. They will always have an exact lead on any ship traveling in a straight line, which is the vast majority of targets to shoot at in pubs, and even if people did turn, they are just as capable, if not more so, at hitting the target as someone without aim assist.

It's less that more you have to judge torpedo lead and attack angles to trap your targets.
You have to judge shell lead in a battleship but where the shells go after that are entirely dependent on RNG. Torpedoes just travel in a straight line so how good they are are entirely dependent on how you drop them.

Still, the recent shitstorm and AW showed WG that they are not the infallible gods of tank-game-design that they previously thought they were, and this kind of reality check is actually really helpful for any given design process.

The chink game was literally a 100% copy of WoWS alpha state around 1.8, with higher speed, subs, and controllable secondaries.
It remains to be seen if they manage to make a good game out of it, but utimately any kind of competition is better for us as customers than no competition at all.

Depends on ship and tier.

In a a Myogi, that is OK. Use AP against BBs at 12 - 14km.

In a Wyoming, switching to HE to wreck a cruiser that thinks he is oh-so-smart by not showing his broadside is perfectly viable.

If you can pen with AP, you should always try that. If not, just smash him with HE.
You must decide this on a salvo-by-salvo basis, with 30 seconds of forethought. Do not start switching ammo types in mid-reload, when in doubt bad hits are better than sitting there watching your reload timer.

Low tier BB's are objectively shit. You're pretty much a punch bag and XP piñata for cruisers. According to WG, this is to discourage people from going up the BB tree in droves.

It gets better at higher tiers, but you should never go alone, as in a 1v1 a cruiser can still maul you up pretty badly.

Also, don't play BB's right now. Their AP is not working as intended™, and they're having troubles fighting cruisers (tho they still win the encounter). Low tier BB's should be even worse now. Just wait until WG hotfixes it.

No. That means you use your Myogi's superior speed to stay at that range where they cannot simply delete you with their twelve guns.

You can pretty much dance circles all around the slow fat US baBBieships.

Against BBs you are almost always better off firing AP., but be aware that there are ranges and angles where you will have a very hard time penetrating them.

For the Myogi or Kongo against the Wyoming or New York the range where you will have trouble penning is between 9 and 12 km. Below that, your flat arc can pen him, above that plunging fire can pen him.

But he has a good chance of penetrating your belt at up to 12 km, which is why you want to stay away from his huge number of guns.

Angling can of course change this a lot, but it should be pretty obvious that presenting your flat sides to the eenmy is a dumb move.
