Hello xivg I am learning the ways of the shinobi

I am using the prepull suiton opener, what is my priority system after that though? What I have been doing is reapplying DE, then doing an AC to refresh huton, then SF, then Mut., based on timers.

After that I just sort of reapply things as they run out, use TA off CD, etc. I figure it's best to just use stuff asap instead of trying to wait to string a bunch of attacks together. However, there are times when I am faced with the choice to use an AC or reapply a dot, or reapply DE vs. reapply SF, that sort of thing.

Are my priorities huton > DE > Mut > SF?

The problem is in a 100% perfect scenario, the change is very marginal. Fights will never get this 100% perfect scenario, especially because the duration on the shield swipe proc is only like 6s long. I'm not saying its a nerf like some other people, I'm just saying the change is not something we will see change PLD at all currently. Alex 2 catering to PLD will.

Retard, Shield Swipe was a DPS loss because it has a lower potency than the average of the Goring and Royal combos. It was barely an increase in ARR when you only had Halone. And there's nothing relevant that can be pacified. This change is making Shield Swipe into a skill you actually want to use instead of one that didn't need to be on your hotbars.

It's not "solid damage", that's not how that works. Every time you use a GCD on Shield Swipe, you pay the cost of delaying all of your other GCDs by one GCD.

You compare it to the AVERAGE potency of your GCDs.

Average potency of Goring Blade's combo is 307. Average potency of Royal Authority's combo is 230. Average potency of Rage of Halone's combo is 203.

The average potency if you're gunning for max enmity (GB-RoH-RoH) is 238.
The average potency if you're rotating all three (GB-RoH-RA) is 247.
The average potency if you're gunning for maximum damage (GB-RA-RA) is 256.

All of these are substantially higher than the 210 you achieve through wasting a GCD on Shield Swipe. You effectively lose between 28 and 46 potency every time you use the GCD version of Shield Swipe.


The ONLY benefit to it is extending your TP, because the last relevant content that Pacification worked on is Ifrit HM. If you want to do PvP in this game, that's a personal problem.

I have an idea, instead of the stupid shitty shield swipe change, they made it so Clemency can be cast on enemies too, and deals half of what it would have healed in damage. So essentially 600 potency. I think in addition to that, making it so that blocking an attack with sheltron would make the next Clemency instant cast.

You get your dps increase without shitting on an already existing ability.

This. XI jobs may be "unique" but others suffer from being useless or not wanted in content. It's nice that all jobs in XIV are viable in any content.
The PLD problems is not the job, but because they made the raid a DPS check, and the devs said that they would avoid doing that and will focus more on making jobs viable, and do tank and healer checks mostly, and DPS coordination. This doesn't mean they won't make job adjustments though.

So far my rotation has been:
Dragon Kick>Twin Snakes>Demolish
Bootshine>Truestrike>Snap Punch
Bootshine>Truestrike>Snap Punch
Repeat
And I refresh Touch of Death whenever it runs out since it does not kill my rotation much
And I go for Positional damage every single chance I get

Blood For Blood is always used after Demolish
Internal Release is used after the first Bootshine, but never with Blood for Blood
Howling Fist on CD, but prefered with BfB or IR

I have no idea how to use Perfect Form

It's really not. You've got a couple of extra OGCDs to manage at 60 and your opener is a little bit more busy, but you're still having your hand held through your combos. The recently extended GL duration+Form Shift makes it even easier to maintain GL3 and as of 3.0 Demolish lines up perfectly so that you only need to reapply it every third combo.
