I'm already so sick of this game and I've been playing it for like a week and a half. The whole game feels like a fucking coinflip since it's so full of cheap removal and cheaper burst. Whoever draws their cheap removal and burst first wins. If you don't have 30 health by turn 5 you're basically already dead. Fuck this shit

It's a shame because it was really fun when I was playing with just starting decks, it was a nice pace and the fusion of the turn based strategy and card game elements were neat, but as I got more and more cards and fought more and more people with all the bullshit cards it turned really dumb really fast. There's just way too much cheap removal so everything you play just dies instantly and waaaay too much burst so even if you're winning it doesn't matter if they draw all their combo pieces. Which would be fine if that were only restricted to some combo decks but it's like every fucking game

It's not strictly bad, but it's a bit double-edged. On one hand, it can pull your sorry ass out of a loss by giving you the extra life you need, or it can straight up win you a game, but usually it'll just lower your health instead. Even in Gauntlet, getting a 1 turn kill on a target with 10 health is easy

I think this game would be more fun if there was some incentive to manage your mana or cards in hand as actual resources. Drawing 2 and not having any reason not to blow all of your mana since you get it all back with a +1 makes clumsy play very forgiving.

Third wish is only complained about in conjunction with Star's Fury. Here's the wall most players encounter against the race:

This combo costs 7 mana and deals 15+ potential damage. It's a low risk, high reward combo because the requirements are low and likelihood of happening is fairly high. In order to fully avoid it, you have to either stack units one in front of another, or be more than 2 squares away from your units. There's going to be some point in the game where you won't be able to keep this formation.

Even if you somehow do, after mid-game stacking units together will no longer be an option. A portal guardian or amara healer is going to come out that you won't have an instant answer for (dispels used on earlier targets). It's a constant looming threat that is always very likely to happen because of how many card draw mechanics the faction has.

The abyssian "version" you talk about is slightly easier to avoid and less dangerous because it requires an active setup. Vertruvian can just summon whatever he wants in the meantime, the defending player is the one that has to play clumsily just to try to avoid a SF/TW combo.

To be fair tho, the vet deck also needs a minimum of ~ 9 legendaries and 6 epics.

He was talking on early game, Portal Guardians are by definition a threat if left unchecked for too long. Early game they're a big wall but they're more defined by the threat they are late-game when any player can summon 3-4 minions a turn.

Just go Lyonar and take every literal provoke and dispel. Rush them and they will lose with no way to fight back. In gauntlet these 3 things are king:

I don't know much about Abyssian in general. Never broke 9 on this game and getting there was mostly starter Abyssians and Songhai for me.

Still, slower decks tend to hate creep from what I've seen. Basically adds a clock to the game if the Abyssian player gets the right shit going.
