Got caught in the open as the close-range slugger Reaper? Just press your invulnerability button and float over to a healthkit. You get this and many other movement tools completely free, there's nothing you give up for them, like sacrificing health with a rocket-jump.


The tools Overwatch gives you to solve problems are contained in a single, brainless button rather than a complex and difficult set of movements and/or offensive measures. The entire game revolves around identifying the correct rock-paper-scissors situation to press your button, then pressing it. There is no serious skill of any kind involved. You're going through the motions of what you think a video game entails.

The miniscule difference between a week-old Overwatch player and a year-old Overwatch player will be lost in the cloud of instakill ultimates, teleports and AOE abilities. This game is transcendentally shit, and there is no escape from it. This is the very profitable future of FPS. Hell. Population: you.

Yes, it hits every shot perfectly, sure, but the point of their ults isn't that. It's line of sight area denial in the form of auto aim in order to simplify things, otherwise you get into a situation where things become needlessly complex (see: LoL, battleborn)

Basically, /everything/ you listed exists to play onto the map, and promote a style of play based around control and teamwork.

Every ability counters something.

Every ability gets countered.

Some abilities are stronger together.

Some abilities work better or worse depending on the map.

This is called depth and makes for engaging gameplay that doesn't get stale and force you to bloat the game with cosmetics and weapons where neither of which fit the original design of the game because your players got bored and your employees are basically vagabonds wandering from cubicle to cubicle until they realized how badly they fucked up applying for Valve and not Blizzard.

It's not necessarily how absolutely accurate their feedback is, what's important is that the devs get to see the disparity between how they understand the game and how they see the game. They've spent at least a year now scrimming internally and they're looking for some outside perspective. So after the scrim they ask the guys they played what they think and why they think that and they compare that information to what they know about the game.

Obviously they're not just going to automatically take the TF2 guys word as gospel and start implementing huge nerfs or buffs based on their 4-5 days experience with the game.

The tanks are very well designed I think. All four are strong in unique ways and have definite niches depending on the map and whether you're attacking or defending.

Mercy is probably the only hero that's a 100% pick. Other strong heroes are interchangeable, like Widowmaker, Pharah and McCree are all strong (especially with Mercy). Winston and Reinhardt are really fucking good. A lot of the time it seems like a primary tank (Winston for attacking a point, Reinhardt for pushing a cart or defending a choke) and a secondary utility ult (Zarya for her ult and shield on Pharah during her jumps or Roadhog for front line assassination (hook goes through shield right?)).
